Meri Strikes Back

Rate this book
Meri is back with a vengeance! When we last left our tale of deceit, blackmail, and really great shoes, our heroine Cindy Bixby had gotten rid of Meri Sugarman, the diabolical sorority president of Alpha Beta Delta. Now Cindy, along with her sorority sisters and friends at Rumson U., including her über-hottie boyfriend, Keith (yum!), is working hard to rebuild the sorority . . . but then along comes Meri. She's back. Sure, she's not allowed anywhere near Rumson U., but do you really think that will stop her? (Get real!) Meri's still got a few tricks up those Dolce & Gabbana sleeves, and she's determined to destroy Alpha Beta Delta once and for all -- and exact her cruelest revenge on Cindy! But Cindy is nobody's fool anymore. She's ready to do whatever it takes to beat Meri!

MERI STRIKES BACK is a continuation of the story introduced in HAZING MERI SUGARMAN. Meri Sugarman, evil sorority president whose downfall was brought about by Cindy Bixby and her friends, is back. Criminal charges against her amounted to nothing but a few hours of community service to be done. This time around, Cindy is being set up so that her sorority sisters will think she's the crazy one, instead of psychopath Meri.

Meri's not alone this time, either. Even though her old vice-president, Gloria, is in prison, Meri has gotten the help of some evil Catholic schoolgirls--miniature Meri Sugarmans. With their help, Meri's plan is working. Everyone sees Meri as the victim, and Cindy as the crazy girl who just won't forgive poor, apologetic Meri Sugarman. Only Cindy knows the truth, and she's got to convince her friends, the Dean of the college, and the rest of Alpha Beta Delta that Meri's just as dangerous as she ever was.

Readers of HAZING MERI SUGARMAN will love its sequel! It might be even more hilarious than book number one. The great characters are back as well. The only reason this book might not live up to the very high expectations set by the first book is the ending. MERI STRIKES BACK ends in a way that is very obviously setting it up for a continuation. Cindy's last diary entry hardly wraps up any loose ends, and even creates several more questions. Certainly, I'm glad there will be another story, but it would be nice if each book was also a story in itself, not just a continuation of one long story. HAZING MERI SUGARMAN stands on its own very well, but this novel, unfortunately, does not.

Still, though, it's a great read that is not to be missed! It's not entirely necessary to have read HAZING MERI SUGARMAN first, though it is recommended (certainly don't read that one after reading this one; there are a lot of spoilers). MERI STRIKES BACK is a fairly quick read that will have readers anxious for the next book about Meri and Cindy, DARK CINDY.

Meri Strikes Back is about a girl named Cindy. Cindy hates Meri a lot. Meri is a girl who always wants to make Cindy look terrible in front of everybody. This time, Meri wants to get Cindy kicked out of Rumson River University ay North Carolina. Meri was recently kicked out of that school because Cindy ratted her out of going to L.A and drinking.

While reading this book, I made a text to text connection. Cindy always thought she was a weak person and could never go against Meri. Cindy thought that Meri could control her whole life. Cindy reminds me of a girl named Cassie in Secret Circle. When it was Cassies first day of school, she got picke don by a girl named Faye who thought that she could control everybody.

I would give this book 3 stars. The reason i didnt give this book 5 stars was because Cindy was a character who was always whining, trying to get other people to do the work for her. It irritated me that she just sat there and did nothing to try to get Meri back in the beginning but at the end things went well. I recommend this book to anyone who likes books about revenge.

Meri Strikes Back by M. Apostolina is a sequel about a college girl named Meri, who is back for a great vengeance. The last book was a tale of vengeance, blackmail, and really great drama, our main character Cindy Bixby had gotten rid of Meri Sugarman, the diabolical sorority president of Alpha Beta Delta. Now Cindy, with her sorority sisters and friends at Rumson University., including her boyfriend, Keith, are working hard to rebuild the sorority. But Meri does everything in her power to not let this happen. Meri comes back and even though she's not allowed anywhere near Rumson University, that won't stop her. Meri's still got a few tricks up those sleeves, and ends up as determined to destroy Alpha Beta Delta once and for all, and exact her cruelest revenge on Cindy. Meri Strikes Back is about a past sorority president named Meri who obviously wanted revenge against the protagonist named Cindy. I haven't read the book before this so I'm going to be honest with this review.

I read it back when I was tween and I didn't understand the function of a sorority or why Meri simply wanted to kill Cindy because she would use freaking cherry bombs at the Uni! Honestly, though, all the time I was thinking about these girls studies.

I thought it would be like a college version of The Clique series but no it wasn't. It really got to my nerves like Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks. I wanted my dollar back but I had to finish the book because I usually feel guilty when I give up on a book.

I can not recommend this to anyone. By page 4, I wanted my money back, and I spent all of $1.08 on it. It's not just boring, it's badly written (like seriously something a 7th grader might write) and entirely unmemorable. And it's a sequel, which means the first book sold well enough that the publisher thought a second one was a good idea, which - frankly - boggles the mind. I am boggled. I mean, it's one of the worst books I've ever read.

Read this book because I enjoyed the last book. I also enjoyed this book too dont get me wrong, but its like Cindy didnt have faith in herself at the beginning. Thinking Meri could in a way control her, and she would just secretly hate on Meri. Im glad at the end, she fought. It gave her a voice, and willpower.

In my oppinion most of the books I read that are a series get less interesting as the last. The story of Meri just keep getting better. It is more dramatical, if thats possible and a little more decieving. THis book makes for a great drama.

This was the second part to the trilogy and it was good. But it was more of a filler to go from the first to the last than being very eventfull... For me anyway.

Quick read, but the first in the series was better.
