I thought our Book 1 couple moved fast, but they got nothing on Xander and Charli in that department. These two could have given me motion sickness with how fast they moved.
(Spoilers about their progression, but no other major plot points)
One minute they were meeting for the first time at Mickey's Bar. A couple of days later they were making out there. Which is totally cool. They're young and sexy, it happens lol. But then, shortly thereafter, Xander is declaring himself her boyfriend. Despite the fact that they had yet to talk after the make-out session. They get together the same night of his declaration, fast-forward three weeks and they're already exchanging "I love yous" like damn y'all chill. And while I did like the book overall, it just doesn't really stand out in any way. I'll probably forget about it in a day or two.
But if you're looking for a quick romance read this is a decent pick. Though just an FYI this one doesn't focus/center around hockey quite like Book 1 did (skipped Book 2). If you read the book, you'll find there is a clear reason for that.
We kind of see Charli get sexually harassed at every turn before we meet Xander so her immediate surrender to him didn't make sense to me. They barely say 2 words to each other the first time but she's already giving him googly eyes which felt very... naive to me. Also, the chemistry between them was sort of bland.
Absolutely loved this book and Charli and Xander. This is book 3 in the Kings of Denver Series and each book just keeps getting better and better. I don't know which of them is my favorite as they've all been so good.
Charli is running from her past and ends up at Mickey's where the Denver hockey team the Dragons frequent. She ends up getting help from Mickey and finds herself working at the bar where she meets Xander and there's this instant connection they feel towards each other.
Xander from the age of 11 he's been trained to become a hockey player with little to no regard as to what he's wanted. He's just trying to make it through the season so he can do what he really wants to be an MMA fighter. He's at Mickey's with the team when he see's Charli and can't look away there's just something about her that draws him in, but whatever it is, he's all in.
I just loved these 2. Charli thought she was weak and helpless, but she has plans and ideas and it takes a special man for her to realize she's strong enough to stand on her own two feet with him by her side and he knows as long as she's by his side he can do anything.
Just when I had the series figured out, they changed the timeline. This was book three in the series, dual perspective, his and hers. This is a college story, this book features hockey, underground fighting, dark pasts that aren't really in the past. Parts of the book were riveting, but then they added more drama, it kind of wrecked it for me. Some steam, tons of drama, multiple climaxes in the book. Similar to bookkeeping 4, too many tropes to make a cohesive book for me. This won't a re-read for me.
“Whatever you want, Xander. On the bar, in the ring, spread out on the ice as you feast between my legs”
This book was fast, the couple couldn’t even be described as slow burn, they’re moving in with each other and the next thing you know bellowing I love yous. It’s crazy. But I guess that’s what love is.
“How fast and hard, how raw and wild. Fuck, I’ll never be able to resist him.”
I loved everything about Xander and Charli’s story!
I loved how brave Charli was and how strong she is! She had a tough life but that didn’t stop her from achieving her dreams! Xander always had one thing in mind at that was fighting even though he was amazing at hockey he knew it wasn’t his true passion!
This whole story is about doing what you love and it was so heartbreakingly beautiful to read!
I cant wait to read the final book in this series!
This one felt a bit more fast paced but I really enjoyed Xander and Charli's story. I also liked how even though it is a hockey romance, it wasn't the MMCs passion in life.
I really liked the first book in this series, but decided to skip the second one due to some reviews I read. I couldn’t resist reading this third one though, and I’m glad I picked it up!
This book is different because it isn’t a ‘pure’ hockey romance, there is actually very little hockey in it. It focuses instead on a broken woman finding her way in the world and a hotshot hockey player that dreams of having a different career. These two were fire together!
It isn’t a highly complex read, but wonderfully predictable. We get some sweet romance, some seriously hot spice, friendships, some drama and a lot of feel good. I’m here for it!
Safety: No OW/OM No cheating No separation / no third act break up h comes from an abusive home. Mentions drug use h is kidnapped and violently attacked
This book wasn't what I expected. It was sadly not it for me, didn't feel it with Xavier and Charli. They got togheter pretty fast and the storyline itself wasn't it for me either. I enjoyed the first two books of the series way more.
This book is for people who like: - Underground fighting - Fast love
MF/dual POV/med burn/HEA/college sports romance/violence/assault/underground fighting/drug abuse/abuse and neglect
This is the 3rd book in the Kings of Denver series. Each book follows a different set of characters and can be read as a stand alone but to get the most of the series it is suggested to read the books in order.
Xander loves hockey, it’s been his whole life, but it’s not his dream. It’s his dads. From the very first MMA class Xander took, he knew MMA would be it for him. Now in Denver to play with the Dragons at his dad’s demand, Xander also finds a new MMA gym, where he’s offered a chance to fight and earn money so he can get out from under his dad control. But if he gets caught fighting, he could lose his spot on the hockey team, also resulting in being completely disowned by his father. Now add the new girl working at Micky’s that’s caught his eye and he has a very full plate.
On the run from an abusive, drug addicted, stepmother, Charli finds her self seeking out refuge. Which leads her into Micky’s bar where he immediately brings her under his wing. Charli is determined to make it on her own. Micky lets her work and helps her get started toward her dream of owning a hair salon. The Dragons are at Micky’s celebrating a win and she feels the pull to Xander before she even knows his name. Then a night out has her at one of his fights and him saving her from a bad situation, ending with him laying claim to her, which is only the beginning of their story.
Let me start by saying that when it comes to sports romances… MMA and hockey are definitely my top favorites, so to have them together 😍 yes please! I loved Charlie’s strength and determination to excel and move forward with her life. I loved how Xander also made her feel stronger. As for Xander, I really felt for him and all the pressure I’m can imagine he was under from his father. Then to go against something like that, I’m sure was stressful. I loved the connection between Charli and Xander. While this series is probably the lightest I’ve personally read by Sheri, I will say a common thread that I’ve enjoyed throughout these books so far is the utter devotion to each other with in every couple, as in no sacrificing the relationship for the greater good, etc. This was a great read proving you should always follow your dreams.
ok so this one took place during the same time as the second book but it starts with charli leaving her abusive drug loving stepmother in the middle of the night after flushing her pills and she runs into mickey’s (the bar) and mickey is a king and gives her a place to stay above the bar and gives her a job. xavier is one of the hockey players but loves mma fighting more but his dad is forcing him to play hockey. but he says fuck that and gets into underground fighting which is super illegal but he doesn’t tell anyone but comes to practices with bruises and all that jazz and the boys r confused. all is going well for charlie and xavier after they meet and chat u til her stepmom comes to find her and she gets attacked. thankfully xavier is there and helps her and he attacks her moms boyfriend too which then leads to xavier getting mugged a few weeks later by four other dudes and a baseball bat. he ends up being fine but charli tries to take care of him whoot whoot. the underground fighting is almost over and xavier just has one more person to beat whose pitbull but he fights super super dirty but xavier thinks he can win. however pitbull kidnaps charli and threatens xavier to throw the match or charli gets it. obviously he finds her and beats the shit out of him both out of the ring then in the ring during that last match too. while charli was taken there was a dog that was supposed to be guarding her but quickly starts protecting her and he’s such a cutie so they take him home with them too. at the end xavier is back on the hockey team (he got kicked off for a second bc his coach found out and his dad was sooo pissed but he comes back for the rest of the season) and they win the championship with jaxon’s leadership. overall it’s super cute and they get engaged two years later and they both have their own gym and hair salon
This is the third book in the Kings of Denver series. Here, we meet Charli, who is running from her abusive stepmother. She ends up at Mickey’s bar, where Mickey proves to be an absolute lifesaver—I loved him so much for how kind and protective he was. He gives Charli a job and a place to stay in the apartment above the bar to help her get back on her feet.
This is also how Charli meets Xander, since the Denver hockey team often hangs out at the bar. From the moment they meet, there’s an instant connection between them.
Xander’s backstory was really interesting. He’s been training as a hockey player since he was 11—not because he wanted to, but because his father pushed him into it. His real passion has always been MMA, and his dream is to leave hockey behind to become a full-time fighter and eventually open his own gym. For now, though, he plays on the Denver team, working hard to get through the season.
Compared to the other books in the series, this one felt more fast-paced, which I really enjoyed. I was so happy to see Charli follow her dreams, especially with Xander by her side. I also loved how he made her feel strong and supported. And seeing Xander finally step out from under his father’s control made his character feel much more relaxed and authentic.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend the entire series.
Let. Me. Tell. You. This book... these characters... I'm not gonna lie... I was peeky-peeking at Xander while reading Jaxson's book. The peeky-peek left me wanting and waiting, just hoping that Xander would get a book of his own. WHEN I TELL YOU MY EXCITEMENT AT FINDING OUT KISS MY PUCKING BASS WAS ABOUT XANDER! I swooned... and then yelled at my husband about how gorgeous and mysterious Xander was. SO, this book... Xander and Charli go through some sheet. They both have some rough backgrounds to traverse but mainly because it's a little bit of each hit close to home, but what I love about it is that it made me relate, it made me feel like I continue to stand a chance against those that think I am beneath them. Le sigh... ANYWAYS, I was SHOCKED by Xander's journey... his hopes, and dreams... is that weird? I feel like I didn't see it coming, but loved it nonetheless. If you can't tell, Xander and Charli's story is my favorite thus far and their attitudes. 😂 The way he just inserts himself into her life cracks me up, and she's just there for it and accepts him. It melts my cold, dark heart. If you decide to pick this book up, PLEASE, check the trigger warnings beforehand!
This is the third book in the Kings of Denver series. It’s a standalone, but it’s helpful to read the first two because there are some character crossovers.
Charli has my heart from the very beginning. She’s broken but fighting to survive and thrive. Her whole ordeal leading to her getting to Micky’s bar just broke my heart. She’s sweet but not a pushover, she has scars but she doesn’t let them define her. She works so hard to achieve her dream, and I was rooting for her the entire way.
Xander is a fun and complex character. I genuinely like him, and sympathized with the difficult choices he had to make. He’s driven and motivated to go his own way, and I love the way he treats Charli. He isn’t as much of a possessive caveman like some of the others, because that wouldn’t work for Charli. Instead he protects her, shows her that he cares, does what he can to make her smile, and supports her goals. Their relationship makes me smile! And the spice is 🔥🔥🔥
This is another emotional rollercoaster from Sheridan Anne, and remember to check the TW!
OMGGGGG!!! Xander! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I have been eating these books up. They're not as dark as what I typically read but they are definitely hitting the spot. With that being said, there are some darker elements in this one, but it's not a lot.
Charli is running from her past and is given a chance by Micky, where the Denver Dragons hang out all the time. Enter Xander, who now only has eyes for her.
She ends up in a situation and Xander happens to be in the right place at the right time. Her very own knight in shining armor, who continues to save her again and again. Just because she's being saved by Xander, doesn't mean she's not strong. Being on her own and out from under the thumb of her stepmother, she blooms and holds her own.
I loved seeing this one line up with In Your Pucking Dreams at times and interactions from that one make more sense in this one. I cannot wait for the next one! I am addicted!
Charlie and Xander, ughhhhh. Charlie had such a rough go at life given her alcohol and drug abusing stepmom taking custody of her after her father passed. something bad happens and Charlie has to flee in the middle of the night to protect herself, then as she’s on the streets of Denver a man approaches her wanting to take advantage of her, so she’s on the run again until she reaches the locally loved bar called Micky’s and Mickey himself saves her and takes her in under his wing giving her a place to work, a place to live, and an opportunity to set up a great future for herself! Xander, a hockey player who actually secretly loves MMA fighting, he’s a complex guy living under the thumb of his mother and father. lots of things happen in order for them to come together, but they are such a great couple, they compliment each other so well where Charlie comes from nothing and Xander comes from everything. be sure to check trigger warnings before reading!!

After reading the first book in this series, I knew not to expect a cute, fluffy sports romance but my god I was not ready for this. Illegal underground fighting, violence, kidnapping, abuse… gawd dam. That makes it seem like a really violent book but honestly it was a story of two people who fell in love and grew together. Charli grew so much, that first chapter I was so worried for her but then Micky came in and he was an Angel sent from heaven. He gave her a real chance to be the amazing woman she wanted to be. Xander was an interesting character. He’s probably one of the best mmc I’ve read about. He’s sweet, caring and he knows his place. He worships the ground Charli walks on and respects the hell out of her. There’s a line about him looking at Charli with absolute awe and calling her the strongest woman he’s ever met. God I love him and I love them together. They’re so cute!! The epilogue made me so fucking happy. They deserved it. 4 stars.
Kiss my Pucking Bass is book 3 in the Kings of Denver series and follows Xander and Charli.
Charli has run away from an abusive step mother and finds herself at Mickey’s bar, where he gives her a job and a place to stay.
Xander and the team are celebrating a win at Mickey’s bar where he first sees Charli and instantly knows he needs to get to know her. Xander happens to be in the right place at the right time and saves Charli from a bad situation and basically lays claim to her on the spot 😅.
Both him and Charli are dealing with different but equally challenging pasts and they really find strength and comfort in one another.
So far Xander is my favourite man out of the series!
We didn’t know much about Xander. Only that he transferred to Denver in Jax and Cass’s book a few weeks prior so his story was anyone’s guess and what rode it was.
It wouldn’t be a Sheridan Anne book if we didn’t have ups and downs and loopty loos. We get all the feels, happiness, sadness, fear, anger you name it, you will feel it.
I love watching Charli become the strong woman she is throughout the story. Her spine of steel is forged through hardship and love.
I hazarded a guess in In Your Pucking Dreams that Xanders bruising was from fighting. I am glad I finally have my answer and even though the secret he is keeping has consequences I think it makes all the relationships in the book stronger.
Kiss my Pucking Bass is the third book in the Kings of Denver series. This book is told from dual points of view from Charli and Xander. These two may be my favorite couple so far in this series!
Charli is going through some things and runs away from home. This kind stranger takes her in and offers her a job. At her new job, the hockey team turns up quite a bit, and she meets Xander.
Xander is going through his own battles. His father wants him to be a professional hockey player, but he has his own plans. What happens when Charli finds out what he's doing? Xander starts showing up to see Charli more and feelings start to evolve.
Lots of things go down, that could rip them apart. Will they get their happy ending? Can they get through all of the craziness?
I really loved this book, and can't wait to see what happens next in this series!
Charli and Xander are so freaking adorable!!! I love that they both came from their own version of hardships despite being in complete opposite ends of the financial spectrum. The love and protectiveness Xander has for Charli is top tier 🥹
Seeing both MCs grow throughout this book and become who they wanted is such a sweet “sight”! I love that despite what occurs in the book, they overcome and come out on top.
I LOVE that Micky took Charli under his wing and helped her get on her feet, it was something so sweet and wholesome and made me love Micky! (I love that we get to “meet” the man behind the bar finally!)
Book three of the Kings of Denver series and I loved every second of it. I adored Zander and Charli, and just couldn’t put this book down! I loved how they are both just two people trying to find their own was in a life that’s has tried to dictate their paths for them, never giving up on their dreams, and just fighting for a chance to be who they want to be. Charli has such incredible strength, and Zander is so supportive of her and all that she overcame.
I adored how fatherly Mickey was to Charli, swooping in and offering her a chance to not only survive but to shine.
I can’t wait to see what the 4th and final book in the series has to bring
I couldn’t put this book down and fell in love with another Denver Dragon! Sheridan Anne ties these stories together with the cameos of the characters from the series but each book is unique and amazing.
I loved Charli and Xander’s story. Charli is so strong and I loved seeing her develop her independence throughout this book. Xander is so protective and just made me swoon! They were perfect together and had me grinning throughout so much of the book.
This book has some unexpected twists and violent moments but it all just added to the excitement of the book. I really wanted more of Xander and Charli in the future!
Okay these two were not what I imagined when I started this book or when we met them in Jacob’s book. Charli lacked confidence after everything she had been through but once she met Xander you could see her gilding herself up brick by brick. Xander also had his own issues but we didn’t really get much of it beyond the shouting matches here and there. I did love that he was a hockey player that loved MMA. It was the best of both the hockey and MMA romance world! The story overall focused on their relationship and how it was built together rather than each dealing their their history. It felt like a refreshing take on a classic.
Xander and Charli's story There was humor, angst and steam! Told in multiple. We learn about Xander and Charli. Both are fighting for freedom in their own way. Charli is sassy, funny and sweet. Then we have Xander, he is determined, strong and so supportive of Charli. I think this was a sweet romance overall, I'm not saying it was all perfect though. Both had demons that they had to deal with, but they both stood by each other every step of the way. I loved the banter between them and seeing their relationship develop. They spicy scenes were hot 🔥 too!! I loved it!
Charli and Xander’s story is a cute HEA sports romance. This series focuses on a members of a hockey team, but Xander comes in to shake that up a bit with his preference for and talent in MMA fighting. This story brings us drama, victories, and a sickeningly sweet couple that gets their well-deserved happy ending. I believe this book happens simultaneously with book 2 in the series, which I haven’t read yet! But I don’t think you have to read it first. There may be a spoiler at the end of book 3 for book 2 though, so if you don’t like spoilers: read them in order.
