While leaning more towards "crime" than mystery, this was easily the best I'd read in the series so far as we finally get to the case we've been waiting for her to investigate....

This book was WONDERFUL. The writing is just beautifully spare. Just a wonderful ride. Loved Loved Loved it! And I finally found out what happened to Johnny and Cantor and why...I was really thrown for a loop! In the best possible way...

Didn’t like this one nearly as much as the first three. Very confusing, maybe too many characters. I’ll move in to the next one in the series.

Well-written mystery from the police procedural subgenre featuring detectives in the undercover narcotics unit. Someone is systematically eliminating cops, and they're not very subtle about it either. The heroine, an experienced African-American policewoman is the only person who seems willing to dig deep to find the connection between these killings and the death of her beloved husband, a narcotics officer himself.

Good plotting--it drew me right in. The main character is admirable and yet not perfect.
