Scythe

Rate this book
A hot chick. A golden blade. Dead bodies. It’s enough to make a cop crazy.

Keely Montgomery doesn’t spend much time thinking about death. She’s too busy working toward a Ph.D. in social work—her ticket out of a low-rent apartment in a New Jersey urban center. Until an angelic courier delivers a scroll from the Office of Death and Dismemberment that could take her career down a new path—as one of Heaven’s Holy Assassins.

Her? Become a Scythe? No thanks, not interested. But she underestimates how persistent Heaven can be.
Detective Josiah Adler has seen a lot of weird things during his time on the force. A hot blonde wielding a golden blade, standing over a string of dead bodies? That’s a new one. So is the fact that her grisly deeds leave no blood or marks on the bodies.

The woman’s effect on his libido is another new development. One that leaves him no choice but to nail her before she kills again. And before his heart no longer stands a chance…

Warning: Contains wise-cracking heavenly bodies, sci-fi geekery and a bulldog named Pugsly.

M.K. Mancos

MK Mancos began her storytelling about the same time she acquired language skills. When faced with nightmares as a child, the pediatrician instructed her mother to read her stories before bed. But being the precocious child she was, she wanted nothing but unadulterated tales by the Brothers Grimm. The battle raged between MK and her mother over suitable bedtime material, until MK was forced to begin telling herself tales before going to sleep. Thus began the lifelong love of books, stories, and lives not her own.

After living for years in the Midwest and Deep South, MK now resides in New Jersey with her wonderful husband, Dave, and her temperamental cat, Kittygirl.

Kathleen Scott lives for today and not tomorrow or yesterday. A mercurial individual, she has the high flying life of the jet set, and is hard to track down on most days.

This was a really good read. Who'd have thought becoming a Scythe would be so exciting. Poor Keely Montgomery gets roped into this crazy job. She tried so hard to shake off being the Grime Reaper....but you know how that goes sometimes. Then hottie Detective Josiah Adler gets a look at this very odd beautiful blonde carrying a golden blade and can't quite believe what his eyes are showing him.
A fun spin of what it would be like to have a female Reaper. Humor is rampid on all sides of this story. I can't wait for the next book.

Who ever thought that being a Scythe could be so exciting? I mean dressing up in a cool Goth-like costume and carrying a gold, very sharp, blade weapon and wondering the city all hours of the night....all while the rest of the world slept! Try telling that to college student/bar tender Keely Montgomery......my thoughts are, she'd beg to differ. But when a heavenly being walks into the bar she works at and hands her a scroll from (get this) the office of Death & Dismemberment.....to recruit her for a job....her first thoughts were this was a joke. Enter a hot sexy Detective that wants to know a lot more about this beautiful woman, like why she shows up at several places where dead bodies are turning up.

This was a fun book to read, after you get past the dead people of course. Excitement at every turn! We even have a delightful little Bull Dog named Pugsley that gets in on the fun. I found this wonderful romance a nice distraction from my mundane life. I look forward to the next book in this series!

Samhain published books often have lots of sex, and sometimes not much in the story department. This was not the case.

Keely is just your average, hardworking girl trying to go to school. She works too hard, studies too much, all in attempt to prove to her rich, smothering parents that she can make it on her own. Little does she know that powers bigger than her parents are also looking over her as well.

The Office of Death and Dismemberment has decided Keely is their new recruit. What happens once Keely becomes the newest recruit sets the stage for a fun, action packed, lighthearted book. Her involvement with Josiah, the detective, is sweet, but very real. Some of the best scenes revolve around Keely, Josiah and his dog Pugsly.

Sure there is sex in this book but more importantly, there is a great story as well.

Es una historia entretenidad e interesante, aunque a los personajes en algunos aspectos les falta origanilidad.

Does it matter that I'm a little in love with the guy who "recruits" Scythe's? This is a dark tale about death, and redemption. When you get that little nudge (in the form of a scroll?) to help the on-high.... can you really not accept? Pretty sure that doesn't happen....but this tale tells the story. M.K. Mancos lets her thoughts, fingers and wits fly in this tale of a girl gone....well.... I'll let you find that out. Well done.... well done indeed.
