Lost Days

My uncle is crazy. Not fun crazy, but scary crazy. He was in some weird accident when he was a kid and it messed him up...

That's the extent of what fifteen-year-old Hayley Wilkins knows about her nutty Uncle Crew. Unfortunately for a teenaged girl just trying to fit in at school, being related to such a whack job isn't doing her social life any favors. But then Hayley's parents get divorced, and she, her mom, and her little brother, Grover, are forced to move in with her grandparents and Crew. Living under the same roof with her odd uncle, she can't help being a little fascinated by him, especially once she learns his story. It seems Crew was the sole survivor of a car accident that killed his mother when he was a toddler, and the child was lost in the woods of Washington for more than a year. Four decades later, he's still tormented by those lost days, and so Hayley makes it her mission to uncover the truth behind disappearance. How could a little boy survive on his own all those months? Did someone look after him? If so, who? As she digs deeper for clues, Hayley finds herself growing fond of her uncle, crazy quirks and all. And when her investigation brings her face-to-face with a fantastic creature of local legend, she finally realizes that being different may not be so bad after all.

This was an OK read for me. I actually liked the characters, setting and mystery of the book...it was the subject of the mystery that just didn't quite cut it for me. Everything that happens revolves around the fact that a couple of guys believe in Bigfoot and have been investigating everything they can about their beliefs for quite some time. When a woman who has been photographing nature habitats for owls is found dead, the 2...who are considered "not quite right" are suspected. Actually a fairly complex plot if you have no objections to reading about Bigfoot. There were parts that were even funny enough to get some laughs. Ok for a light read!!
