Gabe Maddox married Skylar James eight years ago and he hasn't seen her since. She's now been abducted and LCR is engaged to rescue her and Gabe's point man for the operation.

We finally get the story behind Gabe's marriage, which slowly unfolds throughout most of the book. I enjoyed the flashback device used to relate the details, sometimes from each of their points of view. The kidnappers are heinous and, as is typical of this series, the experiences are really tough, gritty and frightening. It made for many exciting and tense moments.

I loved Skylar and was happy Gabe had a formidable partner. He, however, drove me nuts with his stubbornness. There was a pretty good balance between the suspense and romance, though there were plenty of thrills. 4.5 stars

The author couldn't possibly make it more clear what she thinks of her hero. She puts her own thoughts into the heads of all the characters, including the hero himself. There was one scene with the guy's boss. During the scene, which is from Bossy Boy's POV, Bossy Boy has to throw in a mental insult about the hero...in EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT that crosses his mind! And all I could think was, Wow, Christy Reece, you hate your hero that much? Because it's so painfully obvious the author is simply trying to let the readers know she does NOT like the hero, by having her characters dwell on it for her.

Now let's talk about Skylar, our "heroine." Guess what? In every single scene she's in, she's either A. crying, B. fainting, C. falling asleep from "exhaustion" (even though all she does is sleep), or D. all of the above. It felt as if the same scene was being written over and over again. There were literally TWO plane scenes during which Skylar burst into tears (over the tiniest hint of a criticism) and had to be comforted. Over and over I have to hear about poor Skylar this, poor Skylar that: she's so exhautsed, she's collapsing, she's an emotional wreck, she's doing all of these things at once. She always has eyes "fuzzy with exhaustion" or is "trembling" or "about to collapse" or tears are "forming in her eyes." I'm sorry, but to me she comes off as completely weak. She cries over absolutely everything. I mean, if I cried every time someone I like insulted me, I'd being crying pretty much 20/24 hours a day. Which she is. Only more often.

On top of that, the author makes it clear that Skylar's feelings are the only ones that matter. She's always hurting MORE than Gabe. She's always been more BETRAYED than Gabe. After her psychotic father tricked them into splitting up, it didn't matter at all that Gabe was hurt. All that mattered was Skylar was hurt, because, OMG, she suffered SO much more! Well, in my opinion just because someone is a weakling and can't handle pain without falling to pieces doesn't mean she suffered more...it means she can't take it. Am I saying she shouldn't have felt pain? No. But the fact that Reece goes on and on about how Sky's feelings are more important made me so freaking angry.

On top of that, she's a major hypocrite. She believed Gabe would kill himself after marrying her, and yet she doesn't want to forgive him for believing she'd want to break it off with him? Why is SHE allowed to be stupid, but not him? Answer: She's a woman. Answer: Christy Reece likes her better. Answer: A lot of women like that kinda thing in romances.

I don't understand why an author would make a heroine cry THIS MUCH. Am I supposed to feel sorry for her? Relate to her? Well, I don't. Her pain isn't so freaking much more than everyone else's. I've been through just as much as she has, but do I cry every minute of every day? No. Why? Because I actually have a backbone.

The entire plot of this book is Gabe or someone else comforting Sky. Not my kinda thing.

Plus, I don't think Reece understands what a PHOBIA actually means. It doesn't just turn off conveniently when the person wants it to. It doesn't just go away just because the situation doesn't call for it. Gabe is supposedly claustrophobic. However, he was completely fine in the tiny bathroom of a plane. Why? Because that scene was not about him, but about comforting Sky. And yet he doesn't even like to be in a hotel room for more than one hour at a time? And yet he fears elevators? But of course, when he goes on them he's completely fine, because we wouldn't want the man to be seen as weak. That's the woman's job, after all.

If you have severe claustrophobia, you have it. You can't just turn it off whenever you feel like it. If Reece wanted it to go away at his will, she either shouldn't have given it to him, or made it so he just didn't like small spaces but could handle them. But then again, books don't have to make sense, right? They're just books.

Okay, let's talk about Skylar and her dad. It was all her dad's fault. Sky and Gabe fell in love, got married. Then her dad pulled his evil machinations and lies, splitting them up. What does Sky do? She forgives her pops...and still blames Gabe. As does the author. As does probably everyone that's read this book. I can't get behind that. After they split, he TRIED to get near her, but does that matter to her? No? Why? Because women are always right and men are always wrong. I mean, can't a woman write a romance without pulling this crap?

Not to mention the fact that Skylar lied to him about her identity from day 1...and never told him the truth. But, y'know, that's okay, too, because she's a woman. And it's okay if women do stuff like that. It's only bad if the man does it.

Also, I don't like woman who hit men any more than I like men who hit woman...and being insulted is not an excuse. If I hit a guy every time he'd insulted me, well...I'd have hit at least fifty guys.

8 years ago Gabriel Maddox and Skyler James met and married in a whirlwind romance, but circumstances tore them apart. Now Skylar has been abducted, and Gabe is the LCR point man assigned to locate and bring her home.

This is another book revived from my stagnated series pile.

The prologue and flashbacks to Skylar and Gabe's initial meeting set the tone for the rest of the book as their attraction is undeniable and their chemistry sizzles on the pages. While they are both appealing characters (although Skylar does seem to cry, collapse or sleep a lot), the reasons for their break-up are on the ridiculous side, and one cannot help but wonder why a couple so much in love gave up on each other so easily.

Similar to the other books in this series, the suspense plot focuses on human trafficking, and this is where the main problem lies. There is only so much of this trope that one can take as the descriptions of kidnapped girls, drugged and forced into sexual slavery, are dark, gritty and realistic, perhaps too realistic. This gives way to another issue, namely that the focus is on Kendra, a girl lured by the promise of a modeling career. While her suffering is undeniable, she is not a particularly likable character given her selfish nature.

Overall, the book has potential and the romance has its moments. The next book is Cole's and there is nothing I love more than a scarred hero.

I liked this one a great deal too!!

While vacationing on Kalamina Island eight years ago, young Skylar James and Gabe Maddox met and quickly fell in love. Both of them were looking for the love and acceptance, they were able to find in each other. Skylar needing to be accepted for who she is, and not the celebrity face the world knows. Gabe who has suffered a lot of rejection, stemming from an accident that took the lives of people that he loved just needs acceptance. Within a very short time of knowing each other, they fall very much in love, and decide to marry, while still on the island. Gabe doesn’t know Skylar is the celebrity that she is, and she doesn’t disclose this information. Before the honeymoon even gets started, lies, deceit, and betrayal will drive these two apart.

Skipping to the present, Skylar James, and her good friend Kendra have been kidnapped, and Skylar’s father has gone to the LCR for help in getting his daughter back. Gabe Maddox, now working for the LCR is the operative that Noah McCall has called upon for the job. Noah knows what he’s doing, by the way. During this rescue operation, all the lies, deceit, and betrayals of those eight years passed will start to unravel, along with some new ones.

Gabe is so sweet, but at times has to be an "Alpha" ass. I really cheered for these two, and I liked that they had a past, it made some of Gabe's sweetness that much sweeter. I liked Skylar too, another strong, brave, but yet vulnerable woman.

I love Reece’s characters, and gritty plots. I also love that I’ve gotten to know these characters, or something about them throughout the series so far. It’s not just in “their book” that I’ve become acquainted with them. This is the reason I’ve been looking forward to the next book

I became a fan of Christy Reece when I discovered her first trilogy last year featuring the men and women of The Last Chance Rescue organization.

I had high hopes for Reece's latest entry, but have to admit to being disappointed.

No Chance is billed as a romantic suspense, but the suspense portion never had me thinking Oh My God I can't put this book down; or anxious to turn to the next page or make me want to stay up all night reading. As for the romance, the relationship between Skylar and Gabe left me feeling probably as frustrated as the two of them. Finally the villain never felt truly evil but more like a dirty, sick pervert.

The story begins 8 years in the past where an innocent, 20 year old, wealthy socialite and famous model, Skylar James chances to meet Gabe Maddox on a South Pacific island get-a-way. Gabe is recovering from a horrific ordeal during which he was held captive for a year in Africa where he was treated little better than a dog. He's emancipated, weak and has developed a raging case of claustrophobia.

The attraction between the two is evident from the start and within a few days, they fall madly in love and get married. Skylar makes a conscious decision to keep her true identity from Gabe and this action signals the beginning of the end for the two lovebirds. Skylar's father the wealthy, powerful Jeremiah Jones who is unimpressed with the news of his daughter's marriage then perpetrates a series of lies that shatters the course of true love for Gabe and Skylar (no spoilers here, if you want to know what he does, you are going to have to read the book).

Fast forward eight years where we find out Gabe is a recluse, working as an elite undercover operative for LCR (which is still being run by Noah McCall, from Reece's previous books) and Skylar has been kidnapped by unsavory characters who plan to sell her into sex slavery until they realize who she is and decide to ransom her for 10 million dollars instead. Enter the Last Chance Rescue team hired by Jeremiah James and the hero to the rescue is none other than Gabe Maddox. As in another of Reece's previous books, white slavery and sexual exploitation plays a major role in No Chance.

So the Gabe/Skylar reunion is not one big happy family gathering; both are bitter and harboring feelings of betrayal toward each other. Even though they haven't seen each other for the past eight years (each for their own specific reasons - cue Daddy's lies), neither has forgotten the other (nor apparently had sex with anyone else either o_O).

I wanted to feel for these two but something was missing. Maybe I wanted some playful sexual banter instead of the: I love you, but I don't want to love you, but I've always loved you, but you lied to me and betrayed me ad nauseum. Skylar cries and tears up repeatedly and is just an emotional mess. Gabe is busy casting furtive, longing glances in her direction and on no less than four occasions, Gabe catches Skylar in a skimpy towel after she has exited from the shower...and nothing happens. Just get it on already!! You both know you want to. They tortured not only themselves, but each other and then me in the process.

I really really wanted to love this book, but now I see I had No Chance of getting my wish. I already have book 2, Second Chance on pre-order which is Cole's story and I am hoping it lives up to its expectations (the excerpt certainly intrigued me).

I like Ms. Reece’s Last Chance Rescue books.

That said, I had issues with this particular book.

First one is that Gabe and Skylar didn’t talk to each other!

But, no, they pout like children.
I wanted to yell: TALK, TALK, TALK TO EACH OTHER!!! all the time!

Second, WTF!!!

Third, I really hated her father! I would have liked if Ms. Reece arranged his demise ! That would have been poetic justice! But sadly, Skylar forgives him at the end!!!! OMG!!!

Even if the book is very well written and the story interesting, I just couldn’t forgive these issues! So instead of 5 stars, I give it only 3. But if you can stomach all the above, do read it, because the villain is truly, truly scary!!!! :D

3.5 stars I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Christy Reece. She is no doubt an excellent writer. Her stories are gritty and a little scary. Her characters seem the same on the surface, but when you scratch the surface they're all different. Broken and vulnerable. I want to get to know them. I want them to succeed. I want the bad guy to get caught. I get caught up and can't book the books down.

But her bad guys are so very bad. Her somewhat broken characters are so very broken. They've had such bad things happen in their past. So I feel like the HEA you get at the end of the book is not enough. They're not cured, can't be. The bad guys are still out there and those that were hurt are still hurt.

So that's my dilema. This was a great book. I want to read the next one so I can get more story and find out what happens next. But when I finished this book, I was left feeling down. Just sad. I'll have to read something else before I can continue with the series.

Great book, but geez - CR writes some really uncomfortable torture/rape scenes. She doesn't go into details exactly, but she puts these depraved thoughts into your head. For me, it sometimes was a bit hard to get back into the romance after one of those scenarios.

I did love Gabe. He's always been portrayed as a loner-type, quiet and gruff. But we get to see some of his vulnerability here, especially in terms of his fears. He's not exactly brought to his knees by Skylar, his estranged wife, but he still can't stay away. It was funny to me how he was actually relieved to have a good reason to stay and 'guard' her when the dust finally settled after their big reunion.

As with Christy Reece's other LCR books, I really connected with the characters- no one was super annoying, and there were plenty of blips and cameos from the other LCR operatives. Solid read.

I'm really pleased to have found this author and her Last Chance Rescue series. If you enjoy top quality romantic suspense, this is definitely a series worth your time.

As much as I'm not a fan of the 'big misunderstanding', this one was really well done and actually had substance. It was heartbreaking to think of the time Skye and Gabe lost, particularly given the brilliant portrayal by the author of their reluctant longing for each other.

The suspense element was extremely strong, too, which I've come to expect from this author. The subject matter is never comfortable, but the execution is always outstanding. The balance between the romance and suspense was perfect.

A great entry in a strong series.

Christy Reece delivers another fantastic romantic suspense.

Christy Reece is one of my favourite romantic suspense writers. She has created a fictional security agency, and manages to incorporate the perfect balance of action and romance into her stories. I have been so looking forward to Gabe's story - he is a tragically troubled character who needed his own happy ending, and this was just what I wanted for him. His relationship with Skylar was beautiful and exactly what I had hoped for.

This book had me right from the beginning and didn't let me go until it was done. If you are a fan of Cindy Gerard or Pamela Clare, Christy Reece is definitely a writer you should read.

Fantastic romantic suspense story.

I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this writer so far - starting with the fantastic Rescue Me, and through the second trilogy. This is great romantic suspense - the suspense part of the story actually matters; I can’t stand it when a book is marketed as romantic suspense just to turn out to be another romance story.

Gabe and Skylar are an incredible couple, and I’m so happy Gabe got a story because he was a character who desperately needed to be happy. Christy Reece’s characters are tortured but human - you have to care about them. This book didn’t disappoint, and I’m glad there are more in this series, because it is one of my favourites ever.

Gabe's story was one I surely wanted to read, but I found it more drawn out and the suspense a bit more lukewarm than I expected. Maybe it was just my mood rather than the book's problem. I will eventually move on to the next book, since I have copies of all in paperback now.

Perhaps this was a small blip my enjoyment of this series. Last Chance Rescue stories concern such intensely fierce circumstances that the damaged heroes (and/or heroines) can have issues that sometimes make them stupid when it comes to feelings. There was too much of this here, IMHO.

Gabe is now among my top 10 of fictional men I would want to marry in my fictional life. I am already blessed with an amazing husband/father of my children, but every stay @ home mom needs a fictional escape :0)Another AMAZING Reece story, I had to finish in just under 48 hours. Reece is my kind of romantic. This is a must read series. LOVE, LOVE, LOVED it! For me Gabe and Noah are probably tied for the sexiest, most amazing heroic characters in Reece's Last Chance Rescue books.

I am enjoying this series immensely. I finished the first trilogy and just wanted to move right on to the second trilogy. So I did. I really liked this book. It kept me reading, page after page, wanting to know how it would all end up.

Series Note:
Fourth book in Reece's “Last Chance Rescue” series about an independent agency that rescues victims in need of help. Honestly, it's tough to say if you need to read this series in order. I'd say yes because I'm a big believer in reading series in order and there are lots of connections, running characters, some running storylines and all that. But at the same time, I think Reece does a decent job of making this book independent enough. So I don't know what to say on whether this can be read as a standalone.

Summary:
Eight years ago, Skylar James and Gabe Maddox met at an island retreat, fell in love, and got married within a couple weeks. But Skye was keeping secrets...like the fact that she was a wealthy socialite and an internationally famous model. Shattered by her betrayal, Gabe takes off, holding his broken trust as a shield as he began a career with Last Chance Rescue.

Now, Skye is in trouble, kidnapped after trying to rescue a friend from human traffickers. Gabe rushes to the rescue, thinking he'd be able to get in, get Skye out, and get away from her. But new intel leads to some disturbing conclusions and Gabe must stick close to Skye if they have any hope of finding her friend and stopping an evil predator. And the two must face what happened in the past and the feelings they still have for each other.

Review:
I really like how Reece set up this story. Readers have gotten to know Gabe a bit through the past 3 books so it was interesting to start off this one with flashback scenes about how he and Skye met. But more than that, I liked how Reece made their falling out so complex. At first, it seems like something so simple, but then as you read and learn more, you realize a lot more was going on. I thought she did a fantastic job weaving that bit of the tale together. It really worked for the book.

Plus I really liked Gabe and Skye. Poor Gabe...he's been through so must. It was intriguing that he suffered from claustrophobia. You usually don't see this Alpha heroes with a weakness like a phobia. It made he character that much more real. And Skye...interesting woman. She's rich, famous, beautiful, yet she's very down to earth, wanting to just be like everything else. I liked her. Which made it tough to side with either one on their personal differences. Both were right, and both were wrong. They had really great chemistry together, though, and I enjoyed reading about these two together.

And you get quite a bit of Cole in this book, who was heavily featured in the previous book. Now that guy is an interesting character. I can't wait to read his story (which is the next book). I just enjoy when series give past characters active roles and build up new characters. It makes the series so much more cohesive.

The suspense plot was...hmm, well, saying it was excellent seems a bit wrong considering the topics of human trafficking, sexual slavery, rape, abuse, torture, kidnapping, etc. There are definitely parts of this book that turn your stomach and make you bleed a little at the knowledge that this type of stuff unfortunately really does happen. But Reece writes it well. I was thoroughly engaged in the plot and wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next and how the bad guy would be caught.

Really, the only minor criticism I have is that it takes quite a while in the book for Gabe and Skye to move back to a romantic relationship. I wouldn't have minded things moving a little faster there. But that wasn't a big deal. Otherwise, I had no complaints. I enjoyed this book cover-to-cover and can't wait to dig into the next book, which will feature poor, tortured Cole.

So as I continue on my learning curve with romance novels I was introduced to No Chance (something I hear a lot usually after asking for a date) but rather than another knockback this book by Christy Reece is a suspense romance. I hear you ask what is suspense romance well it is a romance with a thriller thrown in. If this were a movie it would be one where the two central characters are at like bunnies every so often and the rest of the time blood is being spilt and a mystery uncovered.

Gabe Maddox is on Kalamina Island in the South Pacific recuperating from a horrendous ordeal in a time where he had lost his brother and step brother in a mining accident and having been held hostage in Africa. His eyes fall on a beautiful young American women, Skylar James who herself is trying to escape her name and her role in society. Skylar is attracted to Gabe as much as he to her, and even more so as he doesn’t actually know who she is. They get married and Skylar returns to New York to inform her family, with family intervention things go pair shaped for the happy couple.

Fast forward eight years and they are brought back together after Skylar has been kidnapped while looking for her mentee Kendra. It is Gabe who works with elite operatives to rescue Skylar, and eventually goes on to find Kendra. But none of this is easy as there is a lot of money being involved in keeping a sexual predator happy with his needs, and he will do anything to keep his mask of respectability intact and that means plenty of blood and guts.

It is through adversity that brings Gabe and Skylar back in to each other’s arms and bed. Like all Hollywood movies there is a happy ending which in this care means lots of sex, a kind of James Bond ending to the book. Like all men I see myself as Gabe Maddox, the hero, the man that can do everything perfectly and have the perfect girl in Skylar James. There is plenty of action in the book of the thriller and sexual variety and it really is a page turner as you want Gabe to get over his stupidness and just tell Skylar he wants to jump her bones but he is like most men, an idiot when he is confronted by the one he loves.

This is a wonderful book that has a great pace about it, there is enough romance and sex but not so much that it overrides the plot. I am sure you ladies can leave this book for your partner to read and he will actually love it. Well done Christy Reece you have won over this male sceptic with your writing.

Not a WOW book but still a good read,Gabe-Skye loved each other but cause of manipulations, lies, deceits from Skye's father adding the lack of trust and insecurities of Gabe and Skye hiding some facts from Gabe lead to their seperation but it does'nt ends there Skye was told Gabe committed suicide and she is mourning Gabe for past 8 years and Gabe was being told Skye does'nt wants marriage and does'nt loves him,Gabe has decided its time to move to get divorced and move on

Now they meet after 8 years cause Skye is kidnapped and Gabe goes to bring Skye back,Skye is shocked to see Gabe alive and then all the truth comes out and Skye is devastated by her fathers betrayal and also heart broken that Gabe so easily gave up on them, their love was so weak that it took only a phone call and one letter to break it but now that they have second chance Skye is determined to have real marriage but Gabe is still adamant that there's no future for them he is a no body and no match for princess Skye

Gabe still has the survival's guilt and other baggages from his past to deal with along finding out the pervert who is kidnapping girls and making them do worse things for his pleasures

From suspense part the story was okay but from romantic part the story was too good to read inspite of being manipulated in worse possible ways still Gabe-Skye respect and never break their vows and Skye's determination to fight for the marriage and no matter how Gabe hurts her and throws hurdles she will not give up Gabe will have to face past demons and she tries her best to heal Gabe, both know that the love is still as strong as it was when they met when Skye was 20 and Gabe was 23 only issues are Gabe's insecurities and past demons, but their love wins and after so much hurdles they get their HEA

Good read

I really liked this one! I enjoy romantic suspence books, but occasionally I find some authors tip the scale too much in favor of romance and therefore it lacks in suspense. This is not the case with 'No Chance'. Reece as with all her books in the LCR (Last Chance Rescue series) managed NOT to tip the scale to heavily in either direction of romance or suspense, but instead draws a fine balance between both catagories.

Each book in this series focuses and tells the story of an LCR operative. With 'No Chance' the focus falls to none other than Gabriel "Gabe" Maddox. While I've enjoyed Gabe's appearances in other LCR books, and enjoyed reading his character development in 'No Chance', I found myslef wanting to read more about the operative that Reece paired his story with. I found myself, wanting to read less about Gabe and more about this other operative. This may have been Reece's intent as this operative's story is next in the series, but I found the scale tilted out of balance and out of Gabe's favor.

I also would've liked to have read more about another character named Kendra. Though her character would be considered secondary, it played a major role in the plot of this story. In the conclusion of 'No Chance' I felt like Kendra was a lose end that needed to be tied off, and the resolution was disappointing. I can only hope her character makes an
appearance again.

Overall, this was a good fast paced read, and what I've come to expect of Reece. However, if you plan on reading this one start with "Rescue Me' and go from there, I'm a stickler for reading books in order.

The tension between the main characters in this book was incredible. Both were betrayed by those they loved on an unthinkable level but they still battled. Another cracking read and I'm right now downloading the next. Read in sequence to get the best experience.....its well worth it! I promise!!!

This has been sitting on my bookshelf for years and I wish I had known how good it would be.
The emotions in this book cover the range in full. The excitement and mystery are enough to keep you reading late into the night. The hot sex is steamy and sweet. I even had to hold back a tear at a couple of spots.

Fourth in the Last Chance Rescue romantic suspense series. The couple focus is on Gabe Maddox and Skylar James.

My Take
Interesting blend of the common drama with the rich girl's parents appalled at her choice and the unexpected twist of how he returns to her life. Reece incorporates some flashbacks throughout the story as she takes Gabe and Skye back to those initial idyllic days and provides us with their memories of the time.

I think it was just stupid for Skye to fly all the way to NYC to tell daddy about her marriage. Why? Why not just bring him home with her? She doesn't need a world between him and her parents to keep them apart until they're used to the idea. I did like that both Skylar and Kendra were not "ooh, help me, help me" kind of girls. They were ready to dive in and do what they could to rescue themselves.

The tension between Gabe and Skylar wasn't very well done. Part of that could be that I knew they'd get back together, but it still felt like Reece was simply writing the words and not really developing it. It was more of a "let's get this read to find out how Reece resolves it" kind of thing. Okay, Gabe taking off at the end like that was just lame. Was there a reason he couldn't tell Skye??

Why is it that, even as the truth kept unraveling, Gabe still couldn't see that Skye was just as traumatized as he was? Still, even with its predictability, Reece did a nice job on this with plenty of twists and turns to make up for the inevitable.

I hope Skylar doesn't forgive her family very quickly...

The Story
The prologue provides the general background with the details filled in as we go. The critical action begins when Kendra is kidnapped and Skylar sets out to find her. Girl should'a taken more backup.

It's Skylar's kidnapping that brings Gabe back into her life. Noah knows the tragedies behind each of his employees and it's part of his own personal mission to help them past it. It is rather poetic that Jeremiah Jameson is forced to accept Gabe's aid. So it's off to Rio for Gabe, desperate to save Skye before Lymes can start cutting off useful bits of her anatomy.

It's a glitch in the itinerary that forces Gabe and Skylar to spend some time together...well, technically together since Gabe spends most of his time not there. But then as more information comes to light on Kendra's captivity, it becomes necessary for Gabe and Skylar to pose as a couple until they can free her. Time that includes explanations on both sides. Explanations that expose the brutal deceptions practiced on both of them.

Too bad it isn't as easy for Kendra. She's been kidnapped to order and part of the delivery fee includes her training in submission.

The Characters
Gabriel Maddox's family was destroyed with a coal mine cave-in and he went off to Africa to help others. And forget. Forget that he survived. Forget the town's, his stepmother's resentment that he survived. But tragedy follows him with a kidnapping that lasts months and his rescue finds him in an exclusive tropical island. The older Gabe now works for Last Chance Rescue (LCR), an organization called in as a last chance for the interested parties to retrieve their loved ones.

The very complex Skylar James is the model daughter of a billionaire. Famous her entire life, part of why Skylar falls in love with Gabe is that he accepts her as she is, he has no idea who she is in the real world. Jeremiah James and his wife Carole, Skylar's parents, are furious about this quickie marriage. Malcolm Marshall is Skylar's chauffeur-bodyguard who obviously needed some tutoring. William Harrington III is Skylar's uncle with some dirty big secrets. Secrets Uncle Bill keeps because people wouldn't understand such a "reasonable" need.

Kendra Carson is a friend of Skylar's and anxious to pursue the same modeling path as her friend. Making her easy prey. Calvin Henderson is Kendra's scum bucket of a boyfriend. Benjamin Bradford and Skylar have a deal. A very useful one.

Noah McCall is Gabe's boss at LCR. Cole Mathison has recovered from events in Run to Me and he's Gabe's backup on this mission. McKenna, a.k.a., Ghost, is a very damaged coworker and she intends to take Lymes out. Whatever she has to do. Somehow, she's managed to work (and free his captives!) with Victor in the past and survive. I think she has a thing for another Lymes victim---Lucas Kane.

Aaron and Joey work for Styx who in turn works for Victor Lymes in their very lucrative slavery sales operation. The brutal Edmond Fritz is one of his operatives.

The Cover
The cover is split in two. The upper fourth is a textured orange background with the author's name while the bottom three-fourths is a headshot of Gabe and Skylar in an intimate moment with a strong purple cast.

The title reflects the belief about their quickie marriage; it has No Chance.
