Excellent way to introduce young children to art. Children will be introduced to this important artist. It is so important to encourage an appreciation of art in children - especially now when so many schools are cutting back on the arts - books like this can help to fill that gap in a small way.

Too advanced for my infant right now, but I'll come back to it later.

This is one of a series of artist-themed board books (mostly Impressionists, but there's a Picasso one, too). Painting reproductions are accompanied by simple rhymed descriptions of the images. May be useful for simple picture study with toddlers, although Charlotte Mason purists will note that there's some interpretation going on in the descriptions.

My 14-month-old loves turning the pages and looking at the paintings in this book. I can only read about half the words on each page before it's on the next page, but any book he brings us to "read" is a winner. I'm reviewing this before looking for similar books in the series or by these authors.

This book in the series was just ok. It wasn't good, but it wasn't disappointing. I think it's important to subject children to good art early on, but I am not sacrificing language for illustration. I almost think a board book with these paintings would be best left without a plot. I would like to see a large board book with perhaps a legend for counting or searching.

Mary Cassatt is known for her absolutely peaceful pictures. I love how this book shows family connecting in so many different ways. A fabulous book use to introduce your children to art and specifically to Mary Cassatt.

** Talking Points: Which picture do you like most in this book? Do you like Mary Cassatt's artwork, why or why not? What things do you like to do to connect with your family? What things do you like to do to connect with your children?

** Essential Oil Pairing Tip: to set the tone for this very relaxing book, I'd diffuse 3 drops of doTERRA Balance essential oil blend with 3 drops Bergamot. You'll going to love how it relaxes the whole house!

Another title in this board book series of famous painters by Julie Merberg. This one features ten of Mary Cassatt’s paintings featuring children and there adult caretakers. Two of the paintings were familiar to me, “The Boating Party” and “The Child’s Bath”. All paintings pictured are owned/displayed in public museums.

Quiet Time with Cassatt by Julie Merberg and Suzanne Bober is part of the Mini Masters series of board books. This is a delightfully, sweet board book that has a Cassatt painting on each double page spread with a rhyming verse that describes the art in an age appropriate way. Quiet Time with Cassatt is a great board book to share with a little one on your lap.
