I never let a Groundhog Day pass in my classroom without bringing out this book. The illustrations are detailed and beautiful, and increase understanding among youthful readers. Some pages fold out, and most include holes strategically cut to add to the feeling of peeking into a hidden world. It gives the reader a look at what a burrowing animal's home might look like. The animals are divided into groups according to the regions and biomes in which they live. I believe it is out of print, but there are used copies advertised for just pennies plus shipping. I have even purchased a second copy because the heavy use it gets in my classroom just might wear it out.
