A new edition of a classic stock market guide offers clear explanations and reasonable and understandable advice on investments, updating information to cover new regulations and new opportunities. Simultaneous. 30,000 first printing.
The latest version, written by Henry Hecht, still is a good introduction to the stock market. It was written long before high frequency trading and doesn't talk about hedge funds much but still can teach you a lot about the basics of the stock market.
This book is not about how to pick stocks. It explains corporate capitalization and markets in baby talk for adults who have no prior familiarity with these subjects, which are crucial for developing a greater understanding financing and investing. At that, it is a classic.
6th Revised Edition: dated material; good history of the Market - wish I would have read it 30 years ago = what can I have my kids read now that will help them in the future..?
From 1976, this book reads more like a history of US financial markets than its title would imply. Often unintentionally hilarious in regard to the ethics of industry participants.
