In her deliciously steamy novellas, Lori Foster introduced the sinfully attractive—and sensual—Winston brothers. Now she continues their story—as sexy Zane Winston sets his roving eyes on the lady of his dreams…Zane Winston is used to fielding women’s not-so-subtle advances. But he’s still shocked when an exotic gypsy whispers some very suggestive words in his ear—and surprised to find that he’s aroused by her words rather than amused. After all, she’s not exactly his type…

But he soon discovers that Tamara Tremayne’s not really all that exotic. Her so-called psychic powers are (mostly) made up. Her waist-length black mane is a wig. And underneath the witchy makeup is a very stubborn, seductive woman—who may be in very serious danger…

Tamara refuses to accept Zane’s help—but he’s still sure she’s the woman for him. She may not be supernatural. But she’s sassy. Sexy. And totally wild…

Zane is the hedonist in the Winston family - the least likely to settle down and the one fighting the Winston curse the hardest. So it's with particular effort that he turns down the very direct request for sex put forth by his neighbor, sexy gypsy shop owner, Tamara. He's never wanted a woman the way he wants her, and when he finally gives in he has to continually fight feelings of wanting more with her. Tamara knows she's not going to be in town much longer, with her business up for sale, so she's determined to have a passionate night with Zane without offering her heart, which she wouldn't trust him with anyway. She finds him a little hard to turn away and that barrier between physical and emotional just topples with him - especially as he gets protective in the wake of the threats against her and her business.

This was much, much better than the other Winston brothers's stories. Maybe it's because this isn't a novella, so the characters have a little time to get to know each other, develop their personalities and really build that UST. And that's the strength here. By the time Zane and Tamara finally get into bed together, their chemistry is damn near explosive and it comes across on the page. The mystery aspect wasn't really that suspenseful and things were obvious for me - no real mystery except why the villain was after what they wanted. I really like this - it had a bit more depth too with Tamara's family and their not being wholly perfect and Tamara being just that little bit too stubborn but not being annoying or TSTL with it. I'm actually tempted to read the continuation spin-off series because I kinda want to know what happens to Joe and Luna.

In her deliciously steamy novellas, Lori Foster introduced the sinfully attractive Winston brothers. Now, in Wild, she continues their story-as sexy Zane Winston falls for an exotic lady who may not be at all what she seems.

Wild - a full length Winston brother story! We've seen glimpses of Zane in the previous stories. He always appears irreverent and we knew the woman to make him come to his knees would have to be special. Well...meet Tamara. She's mysterious and talks Gypsy stuff which drives him insane, but soon he's crazy for her. When unexplained things begin happening at Tamara's shop, it's Zane to the rescue. And whew...Wild is a scorcher! We also get caught up on all the Winston brothers and get introduced to rakish cousin Joe Winston.

In standard Foster form, the hero is a big, strong, alpha male and the baddies aren’t super scary. But, in this one, Foster toys with the idea of mystical powers. The heroine is a gypsy fortune teller. This could have been a downfall, but since Foster doesn’t go all out into supernatural powers, it works. Instead of going the paranormal route, everything is written off as “intuition,” which is easier to buy. It was a fun, light read.

One thing I think Foster does really well is write siblings. She does an excellent job of catching the teasing, affection, and sense of camaraderie of siblings. I’m willing to go back and read the rest of the brothers’ stories, even though I know how they end.

Tamara Tremayne has a special gift. She can sense the emotions of others and sometimes her gift can be a little overwhelming. Funny things are happening on the home front, things like random break-ins and items mysteriously falling off shelves. Oh yeah, and she tries to maintain a strictly sexual relationship with alpha male Zane Winston!

What I like about this story was Tamara’s sassy, independent attitude. She had Zane completely flummoxed and the banter between them was the best part of the nearly 10-hour audiobook. I felt the story drifted a bit and I felt like author Lori Foster, who I love, lost her way a little bit on this one. After some research I discovered that this book is a much earlier work of this author and then it all made sense to me. This story was written 17 years ago and Lori is a much more accomplished author now and this book is a clear illustration of how far she has come.

What helped tip this book over to a 4-star rating was the awesome reading by veteran narrator Jim Frangione. Absolutely no one does the alpha male better than Jim and he can make any story more enjoyable. The way he conveys understated humor and emotion definitely gives life to the characters.

Wild is the fourth and final book in the Winston brothers series, but it is the first that I’ve listened to. I’m on the fence whether I will continue the series.

Setting: his computer store; her psychic business/living quarters above building; Winston Tavern;

Characters:
Zane Winston: parents passed when they were young; Cole finished raising his brothers – with the accompanying lectures on how to treat women, and safe sex; he has been into avoiding the Winston curse (of falling in love) and plays the field with lots of women…; he has devoted the last couple of years into his own computer store, working late nights; he is aware of his kooky neighbor, but keeps his distance from her, especially since he has started having hot sexy dreams about her;

Tamara Tremayne aka Miss Gypsy (at least to Zane): Mom died, and she was raised by uncle and aunts; all 4 of them are typical, modern day gypsies – fortune telling, moving around, etc; though well loved, she’s uncomfortable with the deceit (therefore she studies human nature, empirically and reading up on it, and her ‘readings’ also based on intuition and her knowledge of human nature); when she got her inheritance from mom, she purchased a house for her aunts/uncle, and a shop with living quarters above for herself; at her relatives’ insistence, she dresses the part – wearing a long, black wig, rings on her toes and fingers, bells around her ankle, colorful, layered skirts; she has never fit in; she has watched her neighbor for 2 years – sometimes going into their bar and watching his family too; she has had some expensive mishaps at her store (a fire, and a rat in the toilet, bursting her pipes), and has decided she needs to sell;

Felicia: a wealthy woman, disowned by her family, of years gone past; she wrote her insights, lifestyle, and philosophy of love into a diary; she intended for a gentle young man of her acquaintance to get it, but her diary was sold in an estate sale with many other books… and Tamara has been reading it and taking it to heart;

Uncle Thanos / Aunt Eva / Aunt Olga: love their niece, though they don’t quite understand her; when they come on her and Zane in a clutch on her front porch, they attack Zane with zealous intent : )

Luna Clark: Tamara’s assistant; tall, gorgeous, and wears her hair in drastically different ways and wears outrageous clothes; she has Tamara’s best at heart;

Cole & Sophia (11 month son Nate) / Chase & Allison (5 month old Samantha)/ Mack & Jessica (and year old daughter Trista): all giving Zane their support and teasing; Zane loves his nephew and nieces;

Joe Winston: cousin; ex special forces, ex cop, injured knee; currently a private PI; getting a bit bored with having an different woman every night, and agrees to help Zane out;

Arkane Devane: one of Tamara’s customers; quiet, gentle man; in love, but doesn’t know how to approach the one he loves; friend of Felicia, and wants her diary promised to him – so tracked Tamara down – and he likes Tamara – and Tamara, knowing he is in love, starts go give him pointers from the diary; he has tried to quietly explore the books in her store to find it;

Boris Sandor: Felicia was his aunt and an embarrassment to his family; he is low in funds, and has married well – but a scandal would cause problems; he sold his aunt’s things as quickly as possible – but wants the diary back… he is the one who started the fire… caused the plumbing problems… and then starts smoozing with the relatives as a prospective beau for Tamara – and tries to get her to go out on a date with him…

Summary:
On advice from the diary, knowing she is leaving when she sells, Tamara heads over to Zane’s store, finding him stocking shelves on his ladder, and tells him quietly she wants him… he doesn’t know what to make of her – and makes her repeat it twice – and tells her no way, no how… but then heads over to her place that night, when he sees the lights go on in her unit – and takes her into his arms when she answers the door, and then her relatives promptly show up, and rough him up (aunt Olga jumps on his back).

And from there they learn about one another… Zane’s protective instincts come forth when he learns of her troubles, and he must relinquish his up to then personal control over the relationships he’s had in the past with women… and she tries to caution herself to not expect more than sex with him… but it moves beyond that quickly… their intimacy grows as they share the journal, and some of her suggestions…

And in the end, Boris makes an attack on her and Zane – Luna rushes to Joe (who’s undercover at the computer store) and the two storm up the stairs… and mild mannered Arkane goes up the back stairs, and shoots Boris in the arm… and all of the strings are unraveled…

And Zane and Tamara navigate their ending – to living happily ever after.

Memorable scenes:
“the Winston curse. He believed in it, had seen its effects on his brothers as one by one they’d been caught and married off. Happily. “

“You thought things would be simple when you propositioned me? Zane asked. ‘No messy involvement or unsolicited caring, just sex? I’d show up when you said, leave when I finished, and not talk to you much in between?’ She looked uncertain, started to say something, then pinched her mouth together and shrugged. Indignation nearly choked him. In the past, a no-involvement relationship had always suited him just fine. But at the moment, he wasn’t really sure what he wanted. He decided things would last as long as he said, and she could just deal with it. Not that he’d tell her so.”

“Tomorrow he’d prove to her that he was still in charge. And before the day was over, they’d both believe it.”

“Loving an independent, headstrong Gypsy with meddlesome, wacky relatives wasn’t going to be easy. But not loving her was the impossible alternative, so like each of his brothers before him, Zane smiled as he accepted his fate. The Winston curse had struck again.”

An entertaining read with likeable characters.
Found it easy to skim through at parts but enjoyed the ending.
Tamara and her wacky family were very unusual and different.
Zane really didn’t know what hit him.
The background story with the problems Tamara was being plagued with that called for Cousin Joe to come in was enjoyable.
Been a long time since I read these and I have already reread Joe and Luna’s story in the Visitation series, so seeing their beginning again was fun.

I loved this book. It’s such a fun book. Zane keeps checking out Tamara even though he at first doesn’t think she’s his type. But he becomes so possessive and protective of her. Who is messing with her? Will she have to sell her place. It was a shocker. Loved that they finally got thrift happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.

Great read

The curse caught Zane very easily. Tamara is perfect for him and their families are just wacky enough to fit together very well. Lori Foster writing great characters and really good situations. I would recommend this story to any adult reader that enjoys sexy romances.

Enjoyable

If you enjoy a side of quirky humor with your reading you will enjoy this book. Gypsies, possible ghastly uncle, and a couple of uniquely different families mix together to create a good story.

Zane and Tamara | the straight laced IT/ computer store owner and the exotic gypsy palm reader next door

Tamara's extended family is a whole cast of interesting characters and there's a Cameo from Zane's cousin Joe (from "Say No To Joe?")

this book is wild

Take a gypsy, the hero who has a curse over him, and you have a wild ride. Add in overbearing family members on both sides and you have fun!

I enjoyed this book!

Wild, was a roller-coaster! It’s amazing how much can go on in one small town! I like the fact that Zane and Tamara knew each other because their businesses were next door to each other. It explains why they knew each other but weren’t close. Tamara is extremely socially awkward with Zane at first, but somehow it came across as endearing. Once Tamara became comfortable with Zane it was understandable why the two got along well and are a good match for each other. They had a lot in common.

Everyone seems to have at least a few crazy or odd family members so I could relate to Tamara’s aunts and uncle, and I liked them even though they were obtuse most of the time. There were quite a few surprises in the plot and with the characters. The villain(s) is certifiable so the fact that that situation didn’t make sense is okay (the character is crazy and therefore he was doing crazy things).

Overall, this was a very cute story filled with lots of steamy romance scenes. It’s sort of ironic that the main characters rarely if ever actually go out on dates or do romantic things, usually all of the romance happens in the bedroom, which is fine with me since it is true love and the characters are happy. Since Joe Winston played a pretty significant part in this book I kind of want to reread Say No To Joe? (book 1 in the Visitation, North Carolina series) now. The Winston men are truly loveable characters, I wish there were more of them!

Zane Winston is all Tamara has wanted for some time now but he never noticed her. Now that she has to move soon she takes her last shot at gaining his attention. It doesn't pan out the way she thought it would though. Zane turns her down and she slinks home. But dressed in her psychic costume, wig, and make up she looks nothing like the real Tamara so Zane is shocked when he goes to her home/shop to speak with her.

The real Tamara is a small blonde that doesn't wear the dramatic makeup, and Zane really likes the real Tamara.

He shockingly meets her family and is quickly brought up to speed on Tamara's situation and why she has to move so suddenly. Zane decides he hasn't gotten enough of the blonde pixie and is going to make sure she stays in the building right next to his.

But all these mysterious accidents keep happening and now there is another man in the picture claiming to be the perfect guy for Tamara.

I picked this book up on a whim and fell in love with it. Tamara and Zane are really hot together, as are all the Winston brothers apparently.

Tamara AND Zane's families were a riot. Tamara's family are old world crazy gypsies and Zane's family is so large it was hard to keep everyone straight! I think "Wild" is the last in the Winston brother series but I wasn't confused by reading this one first.

Definitely go pick this book up if you're looking for fun, romance, laughs, and hotness.

I read this as part of the book Wildly Winston where it along with three short stories involving Zane's brother got ❤❤❤.

The opening of this story has the heroin, Tamara a gypsy who owns a palm reading/new age shop, snuggling up to Zane at his computer store and telling him she wants him. It was a bizarre but bold opening but falls right in line with the bizarre reality of this world. Tamara has decide to proposition Zane but he rejects her. Someone is breaking into Tamara's shop and with each break-in the damage and threat escalates. Zane thinks Tamara might be crazy but there's something about her. Still the Playboy of the Winston family isn't interested in any one girl and specifically not a crazy one but his protective nature takes over when he realizes there is really a threat. This one involves cousin Joe Winston (I'm assuming somewhere he has his own book/story), a shop worker named Luna, and Tamara's crazy gypsy relatives.

~~~~
Still haven't been able to find Joe/Luna's book (at the library) but I really want to read it.
I've read a few books by Foster now, and I have to say this is the best of those I've read. Great characters, great romance, a nice minor suspense storyline. Just an all-around enjoyable romance read.
The romance was by far the biggest aspect of the book. Zane and Tamara are a great couple. And their scenes together are very, very hot. This is definitely one of the better erotic romances that I've read. It's sexy and sensual without being crass or just about sex. It's about the characters connecting and being drawn helplessly to each other. True, Foster doesn't quite do justice to the emotional bond, but I don't think the story suffers all that much.
I loved the side characters of Luna, Joe and Tamara's family. They were great, and I enjoyed the cameo's from the other 3 Winston brothers. Also, the small suspense angle gave the story some nice added depth, making the book more well-rounded.
Overall, a good read if you want a sexy romance.
[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]
This was very obviously an earlier Foster book. I’ve read a lot of her books, enjoyed a lot of them, and this one was rather weak.
I liked the characters; I liked Tamara and her ‘psychic’ powers, and I liked Zane and how he was there for her. Their attraction was obvious and very nice. I also liked their families: Tamara’s was crazy and fun. Zane’s family was sweet, and his brothers definitely made me want to pick up the previous books.
The storyline was good, the pace was alright. My biggest problem was the writing. It was just so long. Long paragraphs, and perhaps the pace was a little too long for my liking. Everything just didn’t flow as nicely as Foster’s newer books.
I will probably pick up the first Winston Brothers book, but I also might give Foster’s very early books a rest and stick with her newer ones for a while.
great story....Zane the last of the single Winston brothers finally falls. Tamara a young Gypsy whose palm & tarot card reading shop is next door to Zane's computer store has wanted him since the first time she saw him. She propositions him in his store thinking that maybe she can get his attention but he brushes her off. She leaves planning to give up when Zane shows up at her home after work ready to tell her off instead is floored by the woman he sees now not the dressed up woman who propositioned him. Vandalism on her store & perceived threats make Zane decide to stick around. We get to meet another Winston in the cousin Joe who I hope has a story coming out about him & the incredibly funny & weird assistant Luna. Definite recommend to family & friends. Great job Lori Foster....haven't read a book yet of yours that I haven't loved.
This is Zane's story. The last Winston brother. When Zane's gypsy neighbor comes to pay a visit to his computer shop, it really messes up his day. He already has trouble keeping her out of his thoughts, much less his dreams, and she walks in and propositions him. Well Zane always like to do the persuing not being persued so he turns her down flat. When things get complicated by crazy relatives, annoying disasters and an apparant stalker, Zane has a way of shaking things up a little more. With lots of help from his brothers, sister-in-laws and one cousin, Zane finally helps get everything worked out. Ghost that turn out to not be ghost despite the aunts insistance and a descriptive journal help to complicate matters
This book was just ok. I thought it was weird the way the heroine wore a wig and colored contacts for her job but was actually blonde and green eyed. The heroine could not stand up for herself and live her life as she wanted to, she let her crazy relatives rule her life. I have trouble respecting someone who can't take control of their own life. Kane was not as exciting as I thought he would be after reading the other Winston brothers' stories. He was supposed to be this great lover of women but he didn't seem to know what he was doing with the heroine. I would only recommmend this book if you really like the other Winston stories and wanted to finish out the series.
So bad it's painful. This is my second attempt with this author, but I couldn't make it through this heavy-handed, eye-roller of a book; I couldn't justify wasting more hours of my life on this drivel.
The line that killed it dead for me went something like this: "Zane, you're...upset?" Zane didn't like that Tamara could read him so well.
Umm, Zane my dear, she asked if you are upset. That means she wasn't sure. She didn't read you well at all, she just surmised from recent events that there may be a possibility.
Ladies, if you want some romance that is sexy and smart - go read some Victoria Dahl. Your IQ will thank you.
The story of Zane Winston and his gupsy neighbor, Tamara Tremayne.
The two own shops across from one another and barely spoke to one another until one day Tamara propositions him. Zane initially refuses, taken aback, but can't stop thinking of it, so ends up taking her up on it, and getting much more than he intended.
The Winston curse is alive and strong, and he ends up falling hard and having to fight to get what he wants, her.
Enjoyable story, with appearances from the other Winston brothers and the hero from the first Visitation, North Carolina book and Zane's cousin, Joe.
