The thing with the brother got resolved a lot faster than I thought it would lol. Also I kind of don't like Sawako's dad?? Like he's not a bad person or anything, but he's so annoying and I wish Sawako could've given Kazehaya the hat!!! Like I'm really annoyed she didn't get to.
CHIZU AND RYU'S RELATIONSHIP IS A WHOLE ROLLERCOASTER I FUCKING SWEAR 😭 CAN SHE PLEASE JUST FALL FOR HIM SAWAKO ALSO KNITTING A HAT FOR KAZEHAYA WAS SO ADORABLE I LOVE THEM, wish her dad didn't take it tho

Liked this one a lot more then the volume before it. This one got a bit more into relationships and feelings. Was very touching to see a more softer side of Chizeru
ugh this is just so cute and nostalgic! love that this one focuses more on chizuru and her crush and her relationship with ryu. its just so nice that she & ayane aren’t brushed off to being side characters but they’re important across this series. love love love. and the last chapter being about christmas and sawako gets her first mobile phone and kazehaya brought her a key chain for it MY SOUL
This is my second favorite volume in this manga so far! VERY good!
I think pretty much anything that has Chizu and Ryu having even an INKLING of a relationship or something growing towards it, I'm 100% here. Though there was some sad moments/situations, I really loved this volume. The growth was epic and that one Chizu and Ryu scene made me tear up!
I LOVE how thoughtful Sawako is cornering her family!! What a fresh delight to see in manga! She has such a healthy relationship with her family and the ending was so moving because of it. I'm excited to see where things go and HER POOR DAD! Hahaha! Also poor Sawako because the final scene made me laugh!
I wish Sawako spoke up and told her family she wanted to go to the Christmas party. I’m sure they would have understood knowing that she seems happier lately and has two very close friends now. She’s always been a good daughter and has never done wrong before, so I’m sure they would have immediately said yes as long as she kept them updated that she was safe.

oooh... I like Ryu's brothers, I'm about to compare him with the live action version but restrained mayself, because of the time limit the live action makes it looks like he cold and doesn't care much about Chizuru, I'm glad it's not that case. My my Ryu.. such a good person *sigh* I'm glad though it's not totally focus on Kazehaya and Sawako but also their friends story.
This was an another great volume! I loved seeing Ryu comfort Chizuru and be there for her! It is so sweet! Also Sawako is so sweet and thoughtful when it comes to her friends and family!
"Comfort me...Ryu" Mira de verdad la escena de Ryu consolando a Chizu no me puede gustar más..... Also el capítulo de Toru volviendo sólo para estar un rato con Chi y recordar sus momentos de la infancia se sintió súper nostálgico y me entraron ganas de llorar wtf 😭😭😭
Coming up to the end of the anime and the beginning of new content for me but this volume was amazing. Seeing Chizu come to terms with her feelings was beautiful and the ending chapter was amazing. Sawako’s dad is a great character and I loved seeing him give Sawako her Christmas present. Overall this was one of the best volumes so far and has kept my enjoyment at an all time high.
3.5/5 The focus remains on Chizuru and the Sanada brothers in volume 6. Still relatively heart warming. Just a fun relaxing read.
The final chapter about Christmas is definitely the highlight this time around as Sawako gives Shota a handmade Christmas present and some mix ups ensue.
A very adorable cover of Chizuru and the Sanada Bros on the cover this time.
dude…‘say yes’ by Elliott Smith came on during Chizu and Torus talk and I was deadass tearing up. I LOVE MEDIA SM. Also Sawako and Kazehaya in the last chapter nearly got me :’)
I really liked that the majority of this volume focused on a couple that wasn't actually the main couple. It was a lot of feels and really gave you a feel for the other characters personalities.
Aww, poor Chizu! Poor Ryu! More Sawada being too kind a daughter to tell her parents she really want to go to the party rather than stay home with them.
This volume settles Chizu-chan's arc of unrequited love quite nicely, as she accepts that even though her first love isn't "the one" for her, she can still be happy for him and try to move on. It's a great instance of acceptance as a general lesson for what would otherwise be painful rejection and regret.
Apart from that, we get a quick and cute Christmas episode of Sawako's first time having friends. Granted, she doesn't actually go to the party, but she's happy to be invited and at least get a chance to exchange gifts.
All in all, this volume mainly wrapped up events from the previous volume, so it was a satisfying ending. I'm impressed to (re)discover how much the author has going on this early in the series.
This volume is covers Chizu coming to terms with her crush on Ryu's older brother, Toru coming home and bringing his fiancee. Everyone knows how Chizu feels about Toru, but they don't know how to help her and feels useless that they don't know what to do. Chizu tries to brush it off and act nonchalant about it all, but everyone knows she isn't okay.
Ryu has his own complicated feelings about the entire situation. He is relieved that Chizu now has to give up on Toru, which embarrasses Chizu as she thinks he was feeling sorry for her the entire time. She is upset that her relationship with both Toru and Ryu is strained now as she is taking out a lot of her frustrations out on Ryu.
He loves Chizu and doesn't like to see her hurt, but he is also glad because now she might actually get over her crush on his brother and he will have a change to let her know how he feels.
Chizu comes face-to-face with the reality that she can't be with Tohru, and struggles to work through her feelings and be vulnerable with her friends. While Ryu hates to see her suffer, he knew her pain was for the best. The two clash and lessons are learned.
Christmas is just around the corner, and Sawako is invited to hang out with her friends. But the holiday is her father's favorite, can she really leave him on such a special day?
I'm not sure if it's because I read so many of these volumes in a row, or maybe since I've been sick for so long (rip), but this one didn't really keep my interest as much as I was expecting. We get the character introspection and growth I typically enjoy reading, but I just found myself not reaching for it after I put it down.
I appreciate that the "love triangle" isn't a love triangle, and it's made absolutely clear from the start that Chizu can not (and throughout the volume it's revealed: could have never) end up with Tohru. I liked the realism of a young kid getting a crush on an older one, and hanging on for so long, before circumstances or things change and you often either naturally move on or are forced to face reality. Chizu took the heartbreak initially in stride, appearing strong, but was just hiding her hurt feelings. Ryu being a total expert at communicating was a great help (sarcasm lol). But that's the part of being a teenager and growing up. Everything is big and dramatic, even going to a Christmas party when you don't want to disappoint your parents.
Tohru's character was perfect though. I loved his maturity and thoughtfulness.
So that put me in a bit of a sour mood for the last chapter too.
Maybe I wanted more? Not sure, but this one just didn't excite me.
For Japanese learners: Check my review on volume one for more info. This is a series, so things are gonna be consistent.
🇬🇧 The volume starts emotionally once more. This time it's a slap in the face, even I looked really shocked 'cause that event was so unexpected. Even if I don't really want to talk it down, this event also has advantages for Ryu and possibly also Chizuru.
Ryu, Toru and Chizuru are friendzoning each other, this is also fierce. Everyone is kind of in love with someone else and then they always say ‘[...]like a little sister to me’ or ‘[...]like a big brother to me’. I mean I get it 'cause they are all sandbox friends, but it's still brutal as they all hurt themselves indirectly.
I really liked the middle and end part of this volume. In the middle there is really strong character development as well as room for new opportunities and the ending was cheerful and just sweet as Sawako and Shouta gave each other Christmas gifts.
