“I have found that making just a few small changes in your diet can add up to significant health benefits,” Norene said.
“I strongly believe that the simple choices we make each day have the greatest impact on our health and well-being.”
I purchased this cookbook as a gift for myself. I needed a pick-me up, and this was a wonderful choice! Listen, it was either this or chocolate. I may have purchased both, but the chocolate is long gone!
"Norene's Healthy Kitchen" is permanently occupying a prime corner on my counter-top, a position that no other cookbook has ever occupied (and I have at least 30 cookbooks). This is my go-to cookbook. Recipes are organized into sections by type (poultry, fish, vegetables, etc), with convenient dictionary style tabs (hard to explain - the tabs aren't cut out, but the categories are printed on the extreme edge on each page, so you can easily thumb through the book to find the section you want to reach, without having to go to the index). Many recipes include a little story or explanation, and many have variations, which is useful if you don't particularly like an ingredient she mentioned, or don't have it on hand. Norene gives you a good overview of nutritional information, and explains how to make good food choices. The good thing is that you don't feel like you're cooking special diet foods. These are good everyday and special occasion recipes that you should be eating all the time.
I've made wonderful fish, poultry, salad and vegetable dishes, and plan to keep on using this for a long, long time. My next planned purchase is the "PCOS Diet Cookbook", which Norene Gilletz co-wrote with another author.
