Cyborg Seduction #2

Kissing Steel

Rate this book
All Rena wanted was to steal back a spaceship and earn enough money to buy her freedom from her travesty of a life. Her mission to recover stolen property from pirates backfired and she became a possession when she encountered cyborgs instead. Now, one of them will own her. Rena is a survivor... and she wants the very tall, big, brutally sexy cyborg who doesn't like to share anything that belongs to him.

Steel is beyond irritated when he is maneuvered into ownership of a fragile human female. She's not nearly big enough to handle his size or strength, yet she's determined to get him into bed-into her. Steel realizes just what this little female is capable of when he awakens, chained to his bed, with her riding his very turned-on body. For a man who prides himself on his unyielding control, Steel soon finds Rena stripping him of it an inch at a time.

I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

Steel & Rena Gates

Steel is just a sensitive Cyborg who is desperate to be part of a family unit. His female thought he was dead and replaced him with another male. Now, he is lonely and bitter and in search for a new family.
(Note: Due to the lack of females, the family units in the Cyborg world consist of three males and one female.)

Rena was captive by Flint (From book “Burning Up Flint”) and she was given as a gift to Steel. Steel really does not know what to do with his new property and he is thinking to give it to another Cyborg who may share her with his mates.

Rena is desperate of course. She decides that if a Cyborg has to have her, she definitely prefers Steel. Although she is not very experienced in the seduction techniques, she will try to convince him to keep her.

I loved the way Rena is trying to seduce Steel. It is both funny and hot.
Rena is a strong-minded woman and a true survivor. She knows what she wants, she knows what she needs.

Steel is a nice, thoughtful guy. He may seem cold to an outsider, but he is thinking all the possibilities before he makes any fast decisions. When he falls in love with Rena, he already knows that things will become complicated.

Steel has already thought of the consequences and he will still fall in love with Rena and he will still keep her.
The two of them will arrive in Garden where a surprise is waiting for Rena.
The story is a bit rushed towards the end, but it is still very enjoyable.

“I’m enjoying you right where you are so don’t you dare move. Don’t you cuddle after sex?”

“No.”

A laugh bubbled out of her at his horrified tone. “You do now.”

Gotta love a woman who knows what she wants and how to make the most out of even the worst shituations. Rena volunteered for a mission to gain her freedom from a failed marriage, tired of keeping up appearances with her cheating husband, but her plans all turned to shit when she is captured and given as a gift.
“You don’t like to share women, you’re the biggest cyborg that I’ve seen and I know you don’t want me dead. That means that I want to stay with you.”

Rena realizes that she is safe, just as long as she can convince Steel to keep her. He isn’t too happy with his human, she is far too fragile and doesn’t think she has what it takes to satisfy a man like him, that was all the invitation Rena needed to prove to this man that she can take everything he can dish out and more.
...she was in control. It was kind of empowering and the sight of him tied down, muscles straining, turned her on more than she wanted to admit, feeling the wetness between her thighs.

Tired of putting herself out there, Rena has to accept that he is only willing to help her for right now and not for the long haul. Steel is looking for a life partner, who he can breed and fulfill his obligations with and sadly Rena doesn’t fit in that picture, no matter how much he want her to be. All they have is the few nights together until he sends her back to Earth.
“I’m a breeder who wants a woman I can’t have children with.” He sighed loudly. “Ironic, isn’t it?”

Kissing Steel, was such an unexpected love story, Steel is a logical man, he is so smart and controlled which drives Rena crazy. She’s a strong compassionate woman who shows Steel how to enjoy losing a bit of control. I totally devoured this book, I just wish it was a bit longer so I can spend more time with these two. Can’t wait for the next one!

Slightly better than the first book because the male character is actually pretty likable. The female character is another dumbass, but apparently you can't have everything in your cyborg-smut. It's not like there are tons of other choices if you want robot porn.... oh, there are? Eh, I've got this series sitting in front of me. I'll deal.

might as well embrace the suckiness..

Another great thing about this book that only halfway sucked is that the dubious consent is on the male instead of the female. Yup, she ties him up and forces him to accept her sexual advances. But, don't worry, she almost gets raped later. We wouldn't want a story where things go completely off kilter! It wouldn't be right if the girl doesn't have to deal with at least a couple of rape attempts. Cuz, that's sexy, right ladies?...... right?

oh shit. Can we ship him out into space?

So, this one sucked slightly less than the last one. Let's see what door number three holds, shall we?

Owned by the Cyborg!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁☺️
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Rena - she was part of a six-man crew on a ship called the Britton. They were farther out in space than she ever was before, chasing a lost ship called the Star. Her company had taken a huge loss when the ship was taken by pirates, so Rena wanted to get the big bonus for recovering the ship and recouping the company losses. It was supposed to buy her freedom and her retirement from her company.

The Hero: Steel - he was a cyborg who traveled the galaxy with other cyborgs. He hasn’t been with a female for a while because his wife had cheated on him. He doesn’t want anything to do with women now. He was an ultimate warrior and a virtual weapon and is over 6 feet tall and muscular with enough metal in him to make him lethal.

The Story: The recovery mission for the Star went completely wrong because her boss didn’t trust her and sent a second team. Her jerk of a husband was her boss’s boss and Rena knew he didn’t know about this. Rena wanted to divorce her husband and start a new life, but this turn of events was killing that dream. When seven large cyborgs boarded her ship, she was surprised. They weren’t supposed to exist anymore. They were a brutal species who were supposedly eradicated.

The cyborgs immediately treated Rena as a pleasure worker even after she explained that she works for Demco Insurance and that the Star belongs to her company. Though they said she would be owned by one of the men, and she chose Steel since she knew about spousal betrayal, and she was attracted to him. She was now owned by Steel though he wasn’t happy about it.

This was an odd one, since the Cyborgs were treated horribly by humans before the ones left were all killed. They have good reason to hate humans, but Rena is the one that is paying for it. She gets a lot of flak from the cyborgs. Though it is a good storyline and I liked it.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Mindy Kennedy. She isn’t one of the best narrators I have heard, but she is not bad and has a nice voice. Though she doesn’t have a bunch of different voices for men and women, so it was often hard to distinguish who was talking at any given moment. You have to listen to the clues in the content. I don’t really like that, but at least her voice isn’t annoying.

I'M LOVING STEELE!!!

Steele is a big, sexy cyborg and he's a sweetie :) He's smart and logical. I don't know why, I always find a very logical person to be funny..you know, they're rigid and stick to their ways, look cold and detached. I know, I'm weird to think that's funny.
Anyway, Steele met Rena, an insurance investigator whose shuttle ship met the cyborg's starship. Rena was kept as a prisoner and was given to Steele.

Now..I love Rena! She knew what she wanted and smart enough to be realistic. She took charge of herself and decided to seduced Steele.
Steele needed a mate to breed but he believed that he should be in a family unit with a cyborg woman.
He needs to have little cyborg babies with one of his big cyborg women.

It's a fun, sweet, sexy and emotional story. The author built a new world with this series. I enjoyed it a lot. It's nice to get away from the real world once in a while :) Off to the next one!

Not one of my favorites. And upon reread - it did NOT get better!

Steel did not want a human and he pushed her away for most of the book. Rena's forced seduction of Steel was hot.

No repercussions or retaliation for her almost rape made me ragey. Luckily I was able to forget the names of the almost rapists when one of them had a later book. If I had not there is NO way I would have read it!

yeah. i think i'm a bit weird. love the premise of this series. cyborgs. big, gigantic men with big, gigantic penises. human women - some brash, some wimpy, all soon consumed with the need to have sex with aforementioned big, gigantic penises.

don't get me wrong, though. this book is SF erotica. but the back story/world building is cool, and there is absolutely an emotional element. and although i may be a bit weird - i'm also evidently a bit of a puritan. because all the relationships end up being monogamous love matches.

le sigh. deep, impacting love + big, gigantic (gray!) penises = an awesome bath time read.

Not great but still good

This was a fast paced cyborg romance. I would have rated it higher had I felt more closure with the ending. Everything just came together a bit too easily. An epilogue would have been a nice addition. While I didn’t fall in love with this read, I still found it to be enjoyable for the most part. Ill read more in this series for sure.

5 Kissing Steel Stars

I am a FAN... Yep I remember reading these a long time ago but, I am loving them even more now.

I wasn't a fan of Steel in book 1 but he totally redeemed himself in this book. Rena is another human who really doesn't want to return to earth. And being caught up with the Cyborgs really isn't a hardship for her. Only she doesn't want to be passed around she takes a likening to Steel and does everything in her power to convince him she will be what he needs.

I loveeeeeeeeed how this one ended.. I mean awe and swoon and awe. I don’t want to give anything away but.. Yeah if you enjoyed book 1 you’re going to love book 2.

Again Mindy does a fabulous job with the narrations. I love how she has the right kind of voice and tone for the cyborgs it’s how I picture they would take.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Another good one by LD. The cyborg world is interesting and our knowledge of it is expanding. We got a good glimpse of the females of the cyborg race in this one.

The characterization of Rena was very well done. She had a difficult life and was doing the best she could with it. When she is captured by the cyborgs she doesn't spend a lot of time fussing about it and trying to escape. She's realistic and knows that she is unlikely to get away since she is so far from home, she doesn't know how to pilot a space ship and the cyborgs have no reason to put themselves in danger taking her back to Earth. She looks around and decides that Steel is her best bet for staying safe in the cyborg world and does everything she can to stay with him even though he doesn't want to own a human. I like it when heroines look realistically at their situation and try to make the best of it. Being sassy and difficult just for the sake of the plot gets old.

Steel wants to marry a cyborg so that he can have a family and have children. He however is a very honorable man and does his best for Rena. He is not nearly as cruel as Flint in the first book. All of his decisions have a rationale behind them.

I found the relationship pretty believable in this one. You could definitely see the progression here of Steel falling for Rena. Looking forward to getting the next one downloaded and getting started on it.

The author has created an interesting world here. These cyborgs are believed, by Earth, to be dead. Killed many decades ago. Many escaped and they've settled into their own society and laws for survival. Some of these 'ways' are very contradictory to the way humans think. Humans are possessions... Property to them, nothing more.

There are many conflicts, due to this, with the earth females they fall for. Steele was particularly stubborn about this. Consequently, the females in these stories have a tough time breaking through the walls around these cyborgs' hearts. They have hard feelings toward humans and they are also very logical. So acting on emotion is not normal for them. I like the females in these books, they are strong and yet very feminine. However, I do struggle when they have to work so hard to make these men love them. To the point of begging sometimes. Ouch, thats a tough one to swallow. The traditional woman in some of us may not always admit it, but we want the man to possess, protect, and pursue us....not the other way around.

Either way, I love this author's stories and cant wait until the next one. Great love scenes too.

3 star re-read..

This was a 4 star read, but after re-reading it.. I think it's a 3 star as I liked it, but didn't like Steel as much as I loved Flint ;)

Also, I didn't like the fact that Rena had to beg a few times to get his attention and the whole begging thing was just an off-factor for me.

Still a good plot :)

Off to read more..

4 stars!
(Originally read on 10 October )
I'm giving this 4 stars only because I loved it a bit less than Flint's story.

Still.. It was awesome. It was quite different from the first one. And it hooked me from start to finish!

Beautiful work!

Although these books are part of a series they aren't "world" building and the characters from the other books have little interchange. All the books can be read as stand alone erotic sci fi.

Continuing with this series and still liking it. The author changed courses a bit here with having the h Rena not asking for consent while tying Steel down and having her way with him. Probably the worst line from our h was, "he may be saying no, but his body is saying yes." 🥴 But not to worry because Rena almost get's raped by Blackie. Yeah, Blackie kinda sucked. As far as the story went I once again couldn't put it down and finished it really quick. Actually, a complaint I have is this book was too short and ended too abruptly for me. I wanted more of these two. Rena was better than Mira from first book. Even though of course it was instalove. But hey, if I'm surrounded by a bunch of Alpha cyborgs I most definitely would be latching on to the one that was less threatening towards me and high in command just like Rena did. Steel was great honestly. He was wrestling with his feelings the entire book because he was a prisoner of the humans before Rena was born. There was a lot of angst here as well because once again like Flint, Steel is a "breeder." Meaning he helps couples who can't get pregnant by helping to impregnate them. While Flint had two children running around on Planet Garden, Steel had eight. Yikes! Steel was also one of Garden's most eligible bachelors after being pushed from his family unit. So there are cyborg women coming at him from all angles panting over him, and at first he let's them, but after seeing it upset Rena he had them back off. Though the end became a bit dangerous after he denied a cyborg female named Fusion. Yeah, all cyborg females are bitches. They obviously get the princess treatment because there are fewer female cyborgs than males. So we have our HEA with Steel coming out of the breeding program and announcing his commitment to Rena publicly. And Rena finding her long lost mother also on Planet Garden so it was meant to be. But humans are still slaves and considered property on Garden.

So something I'm asking myself because the author hasn't addressed it, and she may never do so. Though we have HEA for all these couples the FMCs are still aging. So in the future I'm assuming the cyborgs will have new partners, because they're not aging, so ... Not sure where that's going yet.

Rena and Steel
Rena was on a spaceship with her crew to go and take the star ship back, but things happened and Rena ended up being captured, but she went willingly so it wasnt really a capture, and the person she let herself be with is Steel.
Steel wants a woman whom he doesnt have to share, and he knows that with Rena as his PROPERTY cyborg females won't even want to form a family, the'll just take one look at him and walk away when they hear that he has a human property with him. Rena has a father who tells her everyday about a chip in the cyborgs head whom she can make them fall into sleep for like 10 minutes, and she tries it and it works. Steel wakes up with Rena on top of him, and things go naughty from there.
later on Rena was free and was going back to earth, when government people found out about cyborgs and plan on takking her, Steel saw this and went to save her, knowing that the council wont approve of it, or one member wont approve of it. This chick named Florus is jealous and wants Steel to herself, and since he declined her for a human, she reported him to the council, and Rena was about to be taken away because shes now the council's property, but two council members found out her last name is gates, and rena finds out later that those two guys are her moms husbands. so yeah yeah, steel and rena are together and happy and Rena's mothers husbands help take steel out of the contract.happily ever cyborg life after.

It should be three-point-five but GR doesn't have it and I wanted to give it four but it didn't reach to my level of satisfaction so... yeah.

What I Liked.

It was better than previous book. The book was a good read solely for enjoyment but not so on the quality though. It was quick read too! I finished reading it less than 24 hours.

I liked the heroine at first because she gave me an impression that she was a strong person, a fighter. She was indeed a strong one. It was just that she wasn't strong enough to my liking. Actually I was hoping she was an assassin. She did give a vibe of some sort. At least that would probably make things more interesting.

Another interesting part was that there was a forced seduction involved where the heroine had a total control over her cyborg. It got me giggling a lot during reading the part. Thumbs up for that, very unique.

Unlike previous male cyborg, Steel didn't prefer to bond with human female. He was all about honor and his service to his people regardless of his wants and needs. However, that changed though after Rena was given to him as a gift by Flint.

I somehow developed fondness with computer-talking Pod 3. Don't ask me why because I'm clueless myself.

What I disliked.

I got bored with the settings took place in this book. If it weren't in spaceship or in this case, Steel's bedroom, it'd be in the Garden, cyborg's world. I needed complex exploration. Yes, I'm that curious.

This cyborg polygamy stuff is started to get on my nerves. If the story was on cyborg people alone, with such lifestyle I wouldn't bother to make sense of it and I probably ignored it best. However, since humans were involved too, it was hard to put aside the distaste feeling.

There was no glimpse of previous couple and it was frustrating as well. Seriously, I'd love to know what happened to them.

......

I hope the series gets better as it goes. I loved Laurann Dohner's Zorn Warriors series and I hope to love Cyborg series too.

Read on your own peril.

Book #2 in the Cyborg series

I have to say Rena was such a great character to read. She is smart and sizes up her situation and quickly chooses the best solution availible to her at the time. So after her scalvanger mission for the Star fails and she is faced with Cyborgs her furture seems bleak. Some want to kill her, others want to make her a pleasure worker (sex slave) on the ship, the other wants her unharmed. She can't escape so she does the next best thing pleads to be given to Steel.
Steel recently removed from his family unit contract is now given a human female. All he wants is to complete his mission, bringing the recently discovered cyborg females to the Cyborg planet Garden, and find a cyborg female to enter a family unit with and have children. What he doesn't factor in is Rena's will to do whatever it takes to convince Steel to keep her and not give/sell her to another.
So let the seduction games begin...
Blackie and Gene interrogation of Rena goes a little to far and Fusion (a female Cyborg) will give you weird vibes. She is one crazy chic. Female Cyborgs are offering sex to Steel constantly and Rena still tries her best to teach Steel intimacy.

Re-Read Dec 28-29, 2016

Based on the ending of Burning Up Flint, we should have gotten Iron's story but it looks like that will be book 3.

Here we meet up with Steel who has kind of been out of the picture for a while since his ship broke down and they were forced to land on a moon. Luckily, they find a whole bunch of female cyborgs that have been stranded there for 25 years.

When he gets back to the Star, they run into the shuttle Brinden. This is where we meet Rena as she's hoping to recover the Star for the insurance company she works for. They think that pirates stole the Star and have no idea about the Cyborgs.

She's taken and made property...though she chooses Steel and asks him to take her. He's reluctant to say the least and I wasn't too happy with her methods of convincing him. Feelings develop over time and they make it back to Garden where she makes a real shocking discovery.

Enjoyed this one because Rena was likable to me.

She analyzes the situation quickly when she is captured realizing she will belong to one or several of these cyborgs. She asks to be given to the biggest guy who is complaining about not wanting to share his woman (along with his recent 'breakup') and has the decency to tell Flint not to kill her.

Rena is miserable in her life on earth. She is in a bad, loveless marriage with a cheater. She sees Steel & likes what she sees, so she keep noticing his good traits, honorable, decent, strong, truthful and sexy. Rena plots to seduce him and succeeds on several fronts despite Steel still talking about giving her away. Steel begins to sway to wanting to protect & keep Rena. Rescues her from a forced seduction/double team.

Steel begins to see the good and admirable traits in Reena.

Sex scenes are goooood. LD can write some steam.

HEA on several fronts after some issues with the Cyborg council and a narrow escape from capture by Earth military.

4 SEXY CYBORG STARS!!

I really love how Laurann Dohner's series are mostly standalones. I can just pick up any and not need to read the rest of the series since they're not dependent on each other. I however, have read the first book in the series and I was disappointed in some parts of the book. Mostly because Flint -- the hero was the first book didn't come in and defend Steel against all the anti-human things, especially since he's mated with a human!

Other than that I really liked the characters and storyline. I had a suspicion that when Blackie and Gene pushed hard to get the code that they would use it against Steel towards the end, but it didn't happen and I was let down.. I had expected more complications than the 'cultural difference' thing that is present in most of Laurann Dohner's books.

Also, Fusion, I feel should have been dealt with properly. I still that she's a loose end that wasn't tied up properly.

I absolutely loved Steel!! I wasn't sure how i felt about this series after Flint. I didn't really like him to be honest; I didn't like for that scene with Mira begging or how she .... well i don't want to spoil it but I've been loving all of Ms. Dohner books and I'm just racing through all her series, so i figured I'd give the Cyborg series another shot and BAM I absolutely fell in love with Kissing Steel he and Rena are just perfection. I loved him, a romantic hero completely worth falling for and Rena was a great strong heroine!! next on my list is Iron who I detested in Flint's book over how he treated Mira so lets see if Ms. Dohner can work her magic and make me fall in love with him as well.

Another interesting read which I quite enjoyed. However, it is interesting and I can't help but notice the difference in reviews compared to Flint. Many, even myself felt squeamish of the fact that Flint had forcibly seduced Mira (some may even call it rape). Yet in Steel - I see no comment on the fact that Rena forced herself on Steel - tied him down and had sex with him despite his not wanting to. Some people might say 'Oh he had an erection so he wanted to' and some even mentioned that they loved that Rena took it upon herself to initiate the sex. Hey, don't get me wrong I quite enjoyed the book but once again I felt a little off with how these characters are being forcibly seduced be-it Cyborg or Human.

Steel is the kind of guy who isn´t really aware of how romantic he is, and that´s perhaps what I liked the most about him. How can anyone not like him? I loved the way Rena and Steel learn to care for each other, even in spite of their own fears, and the fact that Rena wasn´t exactly what he was looking for (apparently), but they still fall in love.
I loved the surprising ending! I kind of hoped to know what had happened to that side of Rena´s past life, and it was better than I expected.
I can tell that so far, Kissing Steel is the story I liked the most in the series (I´m currently reading #4, Touching Ice, so give me some time to get the whole picture)

The h is married, unhappily, working off world as part of an insurance salvage crew. They run into cyborgs who, of course, are smarter than the humans. She is the only survivor and the cyborgs don't care about her. She chooses the H, but he doesn't want her. She has to coerce him a few times before he is willing to live with her. Her marriage issues not resolved though, so I felt the story line was a bit untidy. I liked the setting and the HEA.

I think this one is my favorite of the series, Rena is a strong herione and Steel, well let's just say I would like to kiss his Steel as well (if you know what I mean). Great fast paced story, good action in and out of the sleeping quarters. The Cyborg Seduction series is a great erotic read. Definitely recommend.

I was disappointed with this hero. He just wasn’t very jealous or possessive at all. He lets the heroine go (and by this point it’s like the middle of the book) and never was very committed or desirous of being with her or keeping her. He was a big let down and the heroine seemed to do all of the pursuing.
