Long on shoulds and shouldn'ts, do's and don'ts, but short on how and why, Wilde's prescription is a mix of pseudoscience, Freudian tropes, and the greatest hits of eastern wisdom. His writing displays a deep distrust of all emotion, but implicit faith in his own judgments of the motivations of others. If you enjoy magical thinking but couldn't get through the I Ching, or find Taoism interesting but not enough to read the Dao de Jing, this book might be for you.
