Proud and independent, Savaana Hearnes's extraordinary beauty and fiery Gypsy blood have enflamed the passions of many -- but she will never be indebted to any man. When an unusual offer from a well-dressed noblewoman is too tempting to resist, however, she agrees to impersonate the newly-wed Lady Clarette Tilmont. But when dashing Sean Gallagher comes to call, all Savaana's carefully laid plans are shattered by desire.
The handsome, rugged Irishman is a welcome change from the aging servants who are watching Savaana's every move, and Sean is pleasantly surprised by the palpable heat of her passion -- so uncommon for such a highborn lady! But Sean himself is not what he seems. He is guarding a secret as shocking as Savaana's own. And the mission he is sworn to complete will be compromised if he allows himself to be bewitched by a mysterious minx he burns to hold and to have.
Born on a North Dakota cattle ranch, Lois Greiman graduated from a high school class of sixty students before moving to Minnesota where she professionally trained and showed Arabian Horses for several years. Since that time she's been a high fashion model, a fitness instructor, and a veterinary assistant. But an incurable case of writing fever put a stop to all those occupations.
Since selling her first book to Avon in 1992, she has sold twelve other historical romance novels, most of which are set in medieval Scotland and involve her very popular Forbes clan. In an attempt to pursue her love of humor, Ms. Greiman has also recently sold three romantic comedies to Harlequin Enterprises.
While caring for three children, fifteen horses, and a menagerie of pets on her small farm in Minnesota, Ms. Greiman writes full time, producing two or three novels a year and garnering much praise from readers and reviewers alike. Affaire de Coeur called HIGHLAND WOLF "magnificent." Romantic Times proclaimed LADY AND THE KNIGHT"...pure magic." Christina Dodd proclaims "Lois Greiman delivers....The Fraser Bride offers delightful characters, breathless adventure."
Her Highland novels have received Affaire de Couer's Critic's Choice Award, Romantic Times K.I.S.S. Award, and been nominated for Romance Writer's of America's prestigious Rita. Her titles have appeared on Barnes and Nobles Best Selling Romance list and won her the Midwest Fiction Writer's Rising Star Award.
OK, I loved, absolutely loved this book...until the end. There are definite spoilers ahead so beware.
First, the only two times they were together it was steamy, steamy foreplay then this line both times (I swear!): He didn't know how it happened but he was inside her heat. He didn't know how it happened? Did he miss that part in his other encounters? How do you not know...twice? He was so sexy as a man then to read this was just wrong.
The worst, however, was in the last three chapters or so, we have the heroine confirming Clarette is her sister, they are long lost princesses (of course) and the neighboring country is hunting them so they are being attacked. In the last chapter, they are saved (still not sure who did what), crowned, and everyone, including Clarette gets an HEA. I don't like that because I don't like Clarette. In fact, that's the point of the entire book until this point. Clarette is a character no one likes at all because she is so selfish and hateful. I mean, the book starts because she is trying to scheme to get an heir to steal her husband's inheritance from him! And just because she is Savannah's sister in the end everyone is fine? What about Sean? She ruined, literally ruined, his father and brother yet they all just chuckle at her caustic, hateful comments in the end.
Read this book. Thoroughly revel in Sean's tasty lines of seduction. Then stop when the girls start running. You only get two lines of "I love you" from the hero/heroine anyway so skip it and live happily ever after.
