Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (1898–1993) was a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking".

Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He has earned degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University (where he became a brother of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta) and Boston University School of Theology.

Raised as a Methodist and ordained as a Methodist minister in 1922, Peale changed his religious affiliation to the Reformed Church in America in 1932 and began a 52-year tenure as pastor of Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan. During that time the church's membership grew from 600 to over 5000, and he became one of New York City's most famous preachers.

If you find comfort and answers in God; this book is for you. If you feel that blind faith may not be the best solution to all of your problems without putting some of your own work into it; don’t read this.

Hier stonden zoveel prachtige quotes in! Een beetje het midden tussen humanisme en christendom en dat sprak me best wel aan! Wel ook best wat herhaling.

Samenvattende quote: Do your best and leave the results to God.

I enjoyed starting each day with a quote from this book. Some were worthy of writing down for sharing and for reading in the future. This book really helped me believe more and more in the power of the mind. It’s so important to have a positive attitude as much as possible. The more negatively one thinks, the more negative your life becomes!

With such high reviews, I was eager to dive into Positive Thinking Every Day: An Inspiration for Each Day of the Year. However, from the start, it becomes clear that the book's official description is somewhat misleading.

The content is essentially an "applied guide to Christianity," which wouldn’t be an issue if the book had been upfront about it. Instead, the description suggests that it offers daily inspiration and affirmations from Norman Vincent Peale’s collection of wisdom, particularly emphasizing positive thinking without hinting at its religious undertone. The description reads: "Compiling the wisdom of nine books—including international bestseller The Power of Positive Thinking—this timeless classic provides readers with a daily message of inspiration and affirmation... Dr. Peale’s classic books provide inspiration when you most need it and lead the way to a fuller, happier, more satisfying life."

There is no mention that this is essentially a religious work. While there’s undoubtedly value to be found in its pages—as there is in all aspects of life—the book may not resonate with those who are not seeking a faith-based approach.

This was a nice book to have throughout the year to look upon when I was having a rough day. It also helped start the day on a positive note every morning. Although it's impossible to be positive all day, every single day of the year, it is good to at least have one small part of the day be positive!

In a sea of daily negativity, it is nice to rest the mind and soul ( if one believes in the existence of such) on a morsel of inspiring and aspiring kindness. I have enjoyed the daily reminders.
