Though I have to admit I like the NASB Bible more, this Bible holds a lot of significance for me. It was my first real Bible. I remember going to Sunday School with one of those picture storybook Bibles when the teacher told us to bring our Bibles, and was regretfully told that this was the wrong sort of Bible. So my parents faithfully bought me this one.
I read this particular Bible twice. The first time I finished by September 23, 2006 and the second time on June 7, 2008. My motive to begin was that well, since I am a Christian, and the Bible is our Scripture, why shouldn't I read the whole thing? I discovered that actually many Christians have not read the entire Bible, which astounded me, so I decided in my little 9-year-old heart of hearts to finish the thick volume, though it may take years.
I read the Bible everyday. My grandparents--one of the select few who had actually read through the Bible several times over--advised me to read the Old Testament and the New Testament together, which I did the first time. When I completely finished the Bible, I was satisfied. I had finished! I didn't need to continue reading it since I've reached my goal. But those rushed hours when I did read it now felt extremely empty, prodding me to reread this Bible along with all the little footnotes, and I succeeded once again.
I am currently reading the Bible for the 3rd time in my NASB study Bible which is much more informative and helps me understand the Bible better, yet at the same time drives me crazy because it has SO MANY NOTES AND FOOTNOTES AND MAPS AND DIAGRAMS AND CHARTS. But at the same time, I'm gaining new understanding of God's purpose in my life.
I would definitely recommend this Bible to anyone!!! It was perfect for a child my age with plenty of for-kids explanations, little biographies on important biblical figures, activities, maps, a concordance, and much more! Happy reading to all!
This is the only Bible I ever owned. I got this as a kid, but never read it. It took a youth trip - a week long conference - where my friend asked me, "Have you been reading your Bible?" Big fat no lol. This book is dumb, its old, how is it relevant for me? He encouraged me to read it. That night we went into the stairwell of the dorm (it was the only quiet place we could find), and we sat down on the cold, dusty concrete floor.
We turned to Matthew 5. And we started reading. My eyes were opened. This was the most incredible things I've ever read in my life!! I got so excited, we just kept reading and talking about Jesus' words. I've never heard anything like this! I've grown up in the church, but I never listened, never cared. And now here I am reading this ancient book with my friend and everything is just so amazing.
I kept reading until I finished the Bible on June 29, 2019. I've continued to read it ever since. There's so much here, praise God for showing me his truths and wonders. I'm inspired and I just want to jump into this book whenever I can!
Edit (second read - 6/5/2023): I've finally read all the books in the Bible twice (some books many time more than that, but at least each book twice now) and I've barely tapped the surface in my exploration of God's Word. I barely know anything about the Prophets, and my understanding of the NT letters is still shallow; my knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures is just simply lacking. I'm gonna dedicate more time to reading the Bible, uncovering its truths, and renewing my mind and heart.
This is a great resource even as an adult who is new to Christianity to break down the events and people of the Bible in simpler terms (especially to someone who grew up not hearing these stories as a kid, I found it helpful!)
Bought this Bible for my daughter Morgan and she takes very good care of it and reads it often. Easy for a fourth grader to understand and very girly looking. What's not to love?
I bought this Bible to help me teach children, but it has become my favorite Bible for myself. I love the historical facts in it. I don't think I'll ever actually be done reading it because I'll use it in continued study.
The Bible itself is of course perfect. Only qualms: NIV translating sinners with scare quotes is bad, in the NT. Some of the blurbs tend towards moralism rather than presenting the gospel to children.
my book adventure bible was AWESOME !!! i am a christian so i know a lot of information about God. this book is mostly about how God is our true saviour and tells the story of how God came along and how he & Jesus slaved their lives for us and how they died to clean our sins. i would recommend this book to anyone & everyone because its just an awesome book and i am so glad that i read it from start to finish ! :)) this book ended well because the entire book was written great and the ending was starting to close up the story of God and i just really loved how i read the Bible !! i was soo suprised that i finished it though because it was A LOT of pages !! it was 1,402 !!! so to end this critiqe up , id like to say ... read this book because it is amazing !!

Ik lees het Evangelie van Mattheus en de Handelingen der Apostelen. Onderdeel van het leesplan van Great Books of the Western World
Finished reading the Gospel of Matthew and the Acts. These two books of the New Testament are part of a reading plan of Great Books of the Western World year.
The Best Bible We Have Ever Bought for Our Kids and We Would Buy It Again Without Hesitation We have had the NIV Adventure Bible in our home for about a year now, and I can honestly say it is the best children’s Bible we have ever owned. My 8-year-old was not particularly excited about reading the Bible on his own before we got this, but that changed pretty quickly once he started flipping through the pages. The full color design throughout the whole Bible is what grabbed his attention first. It does not look or feel like a traditional Bible that kids might find boring or intimidating. Every page feels inviting, and the extra features scattered throughout make reading feel more like an exploration than a chore. He loves stopping to read the Did You Know facts and the Life in Bible Times articles, which give such interesting context about what daily life actually looked like back in biblical days. The Words to Treasure highlights are a wonderful feature for memorization. We have been working on learning a few verses together as a family, and having them called out clearly on the page makes it so much easier to find and focus on them. The Live It activities are a great touch too. They give kids something practical and hands on to do with what they are reading, which helps the lessons stick in a real way. I also appreciate how readable the NIV translation is. It is accurate but written in language that does not feel overly difficult for a child to work through independently. The dictionary and concordance at the back and the color maps are features my son has actually used, which surprised me in the best way. This Bible is trusted by Christian schools and churches for good reason. It is engaging, well made, and genuinely gets kids excited about God’s Word. A must have for any child aged 6 and up.
Thank you @zonderkidz @adventurebible for the gifted copies
If you’re looking for an Easter gift that feels meaningful but still fun and approachable for kids, this one really stood out to me.
The Adventure Bible has been a go-to for so many families because it presents stories and big ideas in a way that actually keeps kids engaged. It’s colorful, easy to follow, and makes reading feel more like an experience than a chore. Pairing it with the Adventure Bible Daily Devotional for Kids just adds another layer in such a thoughtful way.
The devotional includes 365 entries (and they’re not dated, which I love), so there’s no pressure to “keep up.” Kids can jump in anytime, go at their own pace, and make it part of their routine in a way that feels natural. Each page includes a short verse, a reflection, and a simple takeaway that connects to real life.
What I really appreciated is how relatable the topics are confidence, courage, friendships, handling emotions, and everyday challenges kids face. It opens the door for small conversations and quiet moments of reflection without feeling overwhelming or too heavy.
It works with any Bible, but pairing it with the Adventure Bible makes it even more interactive and engaging, especially for kids who like visuals and structure.
This would make such a sweet addition to an Easter basket, or even just a way to encourage a calm, positive daily habit that kids can carry with them all year long.
The NIV Adventure Bible is a wonderful way to introduce children to God's Word! The fun safari theme captures their attention, and colorful illustrations make it come alive. There are different sections to make learning fun, including Life in Bible Times, People in Bible Times, Did You Know?, and Live It! Bonuses include a dictionary/concordance, color maps, and special full-page inserts for special topics.
The Adventure Bible Guide is a great companion to the NIV Adventure Bible. It may be compact in size but the content exceeds all expectations. The two pages devoted to each book of the Bible are filled with key details to help young people develop a deeper understanding of God's Word.
The NIV Adventure Bible and Adventure Bible Guide are wonderful resources for young people, and they would be a perfect addition to a home or church library!
I received complimentary copies from the publisher via FrontGate Women's Blogger Network. There was no obligation for a positive review.
The bible is not for children and to indoctrinate children is one of the greatest evils. You rob them of the sanctity of their freedom of choice. To choose a religion is one of the most meaningful decisions a person can make in their lives. Underhanded tactics like coercion (missionaries) and indoctrination (baptism) rob one of this beautiful choice. It is no coincidence therefore, that christianity is the worlds most widespread religion, because they are the most liberal users of just such tactics. This dying religion has to resort to these tactics because very few adults who have not been indoctrinated at their most vulnerable and impressionable willingly convert. Ironically it is this very book that converted me to atheism all those years ago. Even at that age I could not reconcile the story of Uzzah with my views on morality. The predestination bit really did it for me.
Book is good in terms of explaining references though.
This Bible has been such a gift for our family. As a parent, I’ve always wanted something that would not only introduce my kids to God’s Word, but actually keep them engaged—and the Adventure Bible truly does that.
My kids genuinely enjoy opening it up, which says a lot. The way it’s designed makes Scripture feel approachable and exciting instead of overwhelming. They love learning about the people, places, and stories in a way that feels like an adventure rather than a task. I’ve noticed them asking more questions, making connections, and really starting to understand God’s love on their own level.
It’s become more than just a Bible we own—it’s something we reach for regularly, and that means everything to me. I can absolutely see why it’s so loved by families, churches, and schools. If you’re looking for a Bible that meets kids where they are while helping them grow in their faith, this is such a wonderful choice.
When I first received this Bible, I was immediately drawn in by its colorful, creative design, and I didn't want to put it down! I truly believe that how the Word is presented makes all the difference for a child's reception of it, and this one gets it right. As I flipped through the pages, I could already picture kids being genuinely excited to open it. It's the kind of Bible that doesn't feel overwhelming to read, mainly because it's NIV and because of its articles, maps, person profiles, and activities. I now completely understand why it's a #1 bestseller because it earned that title.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐈𝐕 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 (+ Guide and Devotional!) are excellent resources for children to explore God’s Word and grow in faith and wisdom.
This is a full text hardcover Bible featuring a fun safari theme , colorful visualizations, and engaging sections like Words to Treasure, Did You Know?, and Live It!, giving deeper insight, fun facts, and daily applications. The Bible also includes articles of what it was like in Bible times and offers glimpses into key people in the Bible.
As young readers reach each book of the Bible, the devotional offers interactive elements that help them reflect on what the Scriptures and gain understanding. I love how these two pair together, encouraging kids to enjoy the adventure of reading God’s Word!
#CoverLoverBookReview received an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions are 100% my own.
This book is what I base my life off of. I really like this bible not only because it is NIV and the wording is easy to understand, but it explains different stories of the bible, gives ideas as to what you can do to become a better Christian, explains biblical terms, and points out what people of the bible did for God and Jesus. It puts God's word into easy to understand formating, and that is just...wonderful.
A gift given to me after "graduating" the 3rd grade Sunday school program at Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland, Texas. This was my 2nd Bible to have & read as my very own. I liked some of the practical life applications for kids written in the margins, even thru high school.
This book has the ff. features that are helpful for both kids and adults to know more about the story in the Bible and how to apply God's Word in life:
*Life in Bible Times *Did You Know? *People in Bible Times *Words To Treasure *Live it! *Book Introductions *Dictionary/Concordance *Color Maps
I have to admit, I haven't read the whole bible, but, if I did, i would choose this one. The side boxes explain things about the culture of the world at the time of the story, helping to clear up possible misconceptions.
