Really helpful book for understanding the neuroscience behind how we react to change, tactical guidance for identifying self-limiting beliefs and working through imposter syndrome, and steps for growing into a strategic leader. Highly recommend!
Psychology and Neuroscience are tremendously important aspects to understanding what it takes to become a better leader. R. Michael Anderson covers everything from the Ego to Neuroplasticity in this book and lays out a lot of good practical practices for the leader to implement in their daily life. Get out of your ego and go read Leadership Mindset 2.0 you will be glad you did and ultimately so will your ego.
The best leadership book I’ve read to date. The way it is presented in focused chapter form, allows you to target certain aspects and re-visit them frequently. I’ve immediately ordered extra copies to give to my close management circle. This will help in our leadership meetings. I can imagine saying “lets all go away and read chapter ‘x’ and then we will discuss this topic further”. I’m genuinely excited after reading this book.
This is an absolutely brilliant book and probably now the best one I've read in the leadership space. Michael is emotionally intelligent, honest, raw, relatable and concise in his approach and written content. I highly recommend this book to all leaders (including executives) and aspiring people who wish to be leaders. Don't waste your time reading any other books on leadership until you've read this one first! Fabulous work Michael, you've sumed it up perfectly in only 284 pages.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Enlightening to approach leadership via psychology and neuroscience. Helpful actionable tips and reflection questions throughout.
Truly a book that demonstrates what service in Leadership is all about. Gets you thinking about being a leader that can make a difference. The world needs more real leaders that are not driven by ego, but passion.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for Leadership Mindset 2.0 and let you know how much it has impacted me. Your book didn’t just help me understand myself better—it completely shifted the way I approach leadership and how I engage with the leaders I work with. The insights on mindset, adaptability, and truly leading with intention have been invaluable in my journey.
I saw a recent review that dismissed your work as “generic self-help,” and I couldn’t disagree more. The reality is, leadership isn’t about quick-fix hacks; it’s about continuous growth, self-awareness, and intentional action—all of which your book lays out in a clear and actionable way. Not everyone is ready for that level of reflection, and unfortunately, some will project their own frustrations instead of seeing the value in the material.
But I want you to know that for those of us who are committed to real leadership transformation, your work is making an impact. I’m grateful for the wisdom you’ve shared, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.
The book collects behavioral contexts, some psychology traits, mindfulness techniques, neuroplasticity observations, all together integrated in a growth leadership path - as mentioned by the author. References are made to existing business, managerial and mindfulness tools and findings. Makes me be aware that with today's tendency on self-development information tends to be repeated with only occasional "aha" moments. Overall, a good book to read, in case you are documented in psychology and leadership, it is just a recap of concepts and how to interpret the world.
As a new leader I was becoming frustrated with my team and lacked understanding as to why I couldn't make a difference and achieve the results that were being demanded of me. This helped me look introspectively and resulted in a far more confident, authentic leader. I have been able to coach my leaders and managers meaning all our individual teams are thriving, and the team as a whole is in a far better place. Trust in the process and you will be rewarded with an enjoyable less frustrating leadership journey.
I enjoyed this book and will look for a printed version so I can use the different suggestions and process it further than the audio book allows for. The chapter about commitment vs goal was especially enlightening and something everyone can use.
Really enjoyed the concepts in this book (audio) but now want to read the hard copy to reflect and absorb more fully. Highly recommend for leaders at any level - whether that be professional, personal, volunteer realm.
Rating this book was difficult because it really depends on where you are on your personal journey. Stepping back and trying to look at it objectively, I decided to rate it high because there was a lot of valuable information in it to guide your leadership development and work through barriers to that growth. The middle of the book, I found boring because it was going over how to overcome your past. I worked through my issues ten years ago. I found myself saying several times, “I could’ve used this advice back then.” The information was good, it just doesn’t apply to me. When the book was not addressing the past, it provided some great points and concepts on growing as a leader from a fresh perspective.
Great read for new leaders. Anderson lays out the fundamentals, supports them with evidence and actions for each. I do appreciate the general psychology themes throughout the book, often missed by traditional and/or conservative leadership books. Overall, well rounded leadership development book that highlights some unique focus areas.
