This comprehensive survey of Spain’s history looks at the major political, social, and economic changes that took place from the end of the Civil War to the beginning of the twenty-first century.
Javier Tusell Gómez was a Spanish historian, writer and politician who served as a professor of modern history at the National University of Distance Education (UNED).
A nice summary of a period about which I didn't know very much. It was particularly good at tracking the slow decay of Franco's regime. The principal drawback was its minute focus on personnel changes in the central government (something it has is in common with the previous work in the series). I would have preferred both a more thematic treatment of some subjects as well as a stronger narrative. But all and all a good book.
A very interesting book and certainly very detailed. I agree with another reviewer who said that Tussel spends too much time discussing personnel changes within the government in detail. I would have preferred to read more about the experiences of the Spanish in general.
