As the leading purveyor of only the finest teas and herbs in the world, The Republic of Tea is a progressive, socially conscious California company that was founded in 1992 by the co-creators of The Banana Republic. In 1994, an entrepreneur named Ron Rubin bought and took charge of the company, and shortly thereafter marketing veteran Stuart Avery Gold joined him in the company's mission to create a Tea Revolution. “Success at Life: How to Catch and Live Your Dream” is one of the Zentrepreneur Guides by Ron Rubin and Stuart Avery Gold. It is a fun take on some basic success principles that combines ancient wisdom with some basic business practices. Being someone who studies both business and Asia, I enjoyed the book. I found it motivating and inspirational.

The book is a fairly quick read with chapters on living your passion, staying focused, finding a mentor, risk, setting goals, and being a Zentrepreneur among others. Again, not topics that are necessarily unique, because they aren't. They have been written about numerous times. But the authors take on these topics was refreshing, fun, and again motivational and inspirational. I liked it.

So, if you are looking for a dose of motivation with an Asian flavor, I'd recommend this book. It's fun and contains some very good lessons for succeeding at life.

Nestled at the core of this book are some genuinely good ideas for living your life, succeeding at business, facing your fears, and living a happy-for-yourself life. However, unless you suckle exclusively at the teat of motivational speakers and self help books, the extended metaphors, fragmented sentences, and portmanteaus such as the one in the title will break your spirit. It slogs at 150 pages and 1.5 spacing.

If you want to hear a couple of Westerners talk about Eastern thought as it applies to business, this is your book. Attempts to add personality and verve to the book fell flat, as often happens when one hides behind one's humor. The two do give the solid advice of following your dreams and doing what you love in order to be successful, but that idea is so far beyond novel that it seemed like a lot of pages were wasted on the concept. Do not recommend.
