Secret Betrayals
The Merriam Webster Online dictionary defines lust as an "intense longing" and love as "strong affection for another". As human beings, we sometimes get love and lust confused and once the characters of Secret Betrayals cross these two emotions, their relationships will reap its chaotic aftermath.
Jasmine Reeves has it all – a good education, a cool job, a man who loves her and a man she loves too. Unfortunately, they are not one in the same. After falling hard for her friend's husband, Jasmine has to figure out what direction her life is going to take.
Toya Johnson loves the luxuries of life and has no problem using the world’s oldest profession to obtain them. But when she unexpectedly finds the man of her dreams, she cannot seem to shake the past that keeps coming back to haunt her.

This book had plenty of drama. Basically truth was never in them.

In Secret Betrayals, three women not satisfied with the men they are with find what they want elsewhere in a twisted love triangle when things go wrong for all of them. The theme of the plot is betrayal with a sex scene in each chapter. Not much to the plot.

Backstabbers who are called friends
I enjoyed this book and with all my heart believe there are females out there that this book depicts. I am just happy to have none of them in my circle. Author Harriet Wilson does a good job conveying the feelings and getting her message across. After reading this book you will believe in the old saying ‘With friends like that you don’t need enemies’
From the opening page we meet Jasmine Reeves and from the middle of the page I knew I was going to “hate” her. As the book progressed I forgave some of her sins because she was young and stupid. She’s in love with a married man - ok that happens right? Well this married man wife is a friend of HERS. Not to mention she has a boyfriend who will do anything for her. The things she does to get her married lover to stay with her will have you screaming out loud.
Next up we meet Toya Johnson and of the three women she was my favorite with her ‘I don’t give a damn what you say about me I am gonna do me anyway’ attitude. She is a bonified gold digger; if it is not about dollars then it doesn’t make sense. Toya keeps its real all the time…that is until she meets Shawn the man of her dreams and suddenly she is ashamed of the way she has lived her life.
Chante Summers the last of click who is married to Josh. Josh takes care of home monetary because in the bedroom he slacking. This forces Chante to look elsewhere. Of all the characters she was the one I disliked the most with her ‘holier than thou’ attitude and she was the dumbest of them all. Chante had me screaming “no don’t do that you fool”
Author Harriet Wilson tells a convincing story of three friends that will leave you wondering how they are friends. As they all have skeletons in their closets; none of them can point the finger at another. With a crazy ending I am left to wait for Part two to drop, which I look forward to.

This book keeps you glued from the 1st page! I put the kids to bed at 8:30, rush to do my night routine, and laid across my bed and didn't move until I finished this book at 2am. And I'm having no regrets. The book didn't give you time to breathe before some more drama kicked off.
I won't give the synopsis because it already given and when I read reviews it doesn't help me that it was repeat. All I want to know is how the person like the book and if it not mention what does it entail. This one has sex,murder,pregnancy, adultry and other things to include the obvious betrayal.
I like all the girls but man, this was one mess up group of friends. Even though what Jasmine did was wrong, I could really say I hated her because she didn't know. Once she did she should have stopped but I know it hard to but the brakes on love, she should have tried and come clean though. Then there is Toya. Mess up yes, but she was straight forward and honest (up until the end there). She I really was rooting for her. Chante out of all of them she is the one I couldn't feel sorry for period. She got what she deserved. I wanted to hate Dre but hey, she was and idiot. She took way to many risk and it came back and burn her butt (lol you need to read to see just how true that statement really is lol). I only feel sorry for one person, poor left out Brian. +sigh+
And the ending...man,your wrong for that Ms. Wilson. Now I've got to track you down to see if there is a sequel!

Jasmine, Toya and Chante are best friends. Well, technically, Toya is the glue that keeps this friendship together. Jasmine is in quite a dilemma; she's in love with Josh, a married man who has told her he refuses to leave his wife and kids for her. Brian, her boyfriend, a nerd, is the ideal man. He loves her unconditionally. Pregnant, Jasmine is uncertain which man is the father but her heart is screaming Josh. As she tries to convince Josh that they are meant to be, Brian is making all of her dreams come true. Can Jasmine keep her secret and her man?
Toya has her hands full with work. Unlike her friends, she doesn't "date" for free. Toya has had her share of poverty and once she learned the secret to success, she's been selling it to the highest bidder. 'Secret Betrayals' by Harriet Wilson is an okay read. Like the character dynamics, the story is full of drama, and holds your attention easily. Enjoyable, the story does have some questionable parts and the editing is in need of tweaking. I also don't like that the book didn't end forcing readers to wait for a sequel.

Just a Friend?
Harriet Wilson's “Secret Betrayals” follows the lives of three women whose lives are intertwined by friendship and the betrayals that are ultimately revealed. First, there's Chante, who is married to a successful man and has two beautiful children. Yet, Chante has a special friend who may drive a wedge into her happy home. When her secret is revealed, will she allow her family to be destroyed?
Next, there's Latoya (Toya for short). She has lots of special friends and she uses them to get what she wants. But, what will happen when true love arrives but the special friend won't let go?
Finally, there is Jasmine. When her secret friend is announced to the world, will she be able to do what is right or continue with her ultimate betrayal?
“Secret Betrayals” is all about friendship, secret friendships, betrayals and the truth. The combination of all these elements leads to action that is steamy and volatile, sultry and explosive. Wilson's story is a very fast read. I found myself fully engaged in the novel from beginning to end. That aside, there were quite a few grammatical errors that proved distracting at times. Otherwise, it is a good read.

Secret Betrayals was a delight to read. I was able to read this book in one sitting as it was filled with twists and turns. At times, I was shaking my head because I could not believe the turn of events. This book had the perfect recipe for disaster and drama when a person mistakes lust for love and gets the two emotions confused. As human beings, we sometimes get love and lust confused and the characters of “Secret Betrayals” were no exception. The reader will probably recognize either a part of themselves or someone that they know while reading this book because it touches on real life situations. I could not stop reading this book and I look forward to reading more from Harriet.

This book certainly lives up to its title. Betrayal was running rampant all through the pages. The sickest was Jasmine and Josh. Sleeping with and getting preggers by your friends husband is pretty low down. I like Toya, she kept it real the entire book. Her agenda was upfront no matter how disgusting it was. She knew what she was, and how to get what she wanted. Chante was just a complete mess. The only word I can use to describe her is stupid. I liked this read. This was the my first by this author and it kept me interested. I'd recommend.

June 9, 2010Ms. Wilson outdid herself with this novel. It is amazing how you can be there with your best friend without even knowing the betrayal that is creeping in to destroy your friendship. This is A MUST READ BOOK.

I think this book could have been excellent but I have to agree with Leona it did have some editing issues. Overall, a pretty good read.
