ini agak beda dengan HR2 yang biasanya...disini gak di bahas lord2 mata keranjang or playboy insyaf....lebih ke arah emansipasi wanita ( lady)..spy2 an...pengkniatan dan perang antar ingrris lawan rusia...
alkisah miss julia reed adalah seorang gadis bangsawan yang berjiwa bebas, lama terkurung dalam kastil bersama keluarga dan satu2 nya kaka laki2 nya yang tukang bully bikin dia gak bahagia...
satu2nya kebahagiaannya adalah pada saat dia bersama2 Samuel Sherryngton (sam), anak tukang kebun keluarga reed...
saat ini julia berusia 14 tahun dan sam pergi untuk masuk ke army pada usia 20 tahun..
sam pergi karena dia tau gak bakal ada akhir yang bahagia bila mencintai anak majikannya yang berdarah biru sedangkan swluruh keluarga sam bekerja untuk keluarga reed baik menjadi gardener, pelayan dsb nya....
julia dari kecil udah mencintai sam, so hancur hati nya pas sam pergi masuk militer dan gak pernah balas surat2 nya..
sementara lewis reed, kaka julia yang tukang bully meniti karir di militer..
saat itu sudah biasa anak2 bangsawan ikut berperang dan menjado jendral/komandan dll dalam menghadapi rusia...
setelah kakaknya pergi, julia hanya tinggal sendiri di kastil keluarganya (ayah ibu sudah meninggal krn kecelakaan..kalo gak salah)..lewis pun pergi..
so julia memutuskan menyusul lewis ke india dan afganistan....
lewis yang sebenernya gak ada sayang2 nya sedikitpun sama adiknya terpaksa menerima.....
julia yang tidak bahagia dan selalu merasa tidak ada org yang mencinyainya mulai menjalin affair...dia yakin gak akan menikah jadi gak ada salah nya dia mencari kasih sayang sesaat dalam pelukan laki2...so dia melakukan affair dengan salah satu anak buah lewih selama seminggu....
pria ke 2 yang affair dengan dia adalah salah satu teman sam.....dalam hati julia pingin membalas kelakuan sam yang gak pernah membalas surat nya selama lebih dari 10 tahun.....
sam yang mengetahui julia menjalin affair dengan temannya sakit hati..
suatu hari julia di tangkap dengan tuduhan menjual rahasia inggris dan menjadi mata2 bagi rusia....
sam membantu menjebloskan julia ke dalam penjara....
tapi hati kecil sam walau benci ke julia tetap merasa gak mungkin julia adalah penghianat yang menjual rahasia negara dan menyebabkan sekitar 1600 tentara inggris tewas....
julia tinggal menunggu waktu untuk di hukum mati.....
sam yang memutuskan mendatangi salah satu saksi yang memberatkan julia (anak governess julia) mendatangi dia...sayangnya sebelum sam bisa mengintrogasi, lelaki itu udah bersiimbah darah..tapi sebelum mati dia bilang ke sam kalau julia gak bersalah..semua nya adalah kerjaan lewis, kaka julia yang mata2 sebenar nya dan menjadikan julia kambing putih :p
lewis membutuhkan banyak uang untuk mengurus kastil nya...
sam di tuduh membunuh saksi tersebut dan dikejar2 petugas juga...
sam akhirnya membantu membebaskan julia dari penjara....mereka mencari cara buat mengembalikan nama baik julia dan menjebak lewis reed untuk kejahatannya.
MY OPINION :
1, GW KURANG SUKA DENGAN MASA LALU SI JULIA INI...gak pantes aja bagi lady seperti pergi berkelana dan menjain affair dengan cowok2 ( cuma 2 sih) walo dengan alasan krn dia kesepian, merasa gak ada yang peduli dia dan yakin gak akan menikah karena love of her life (sam) nya gak mencintai dia (menurut julia)
2. walo buat bikin sam jeles gak berarti julia mesti affair dan tidur sama sahabat sam sendiri
3. sebenernya tokoh sam ini sangat lovable...seumur hidup mencintai julia tapi merasa rendah diri dan memilih buat pergi karena dia yakin kalo anak bangsawan gak mungkin menikah dengan anak gardener..tapi mestinya sam jelasin ke julia biar julia nya juga gak jadi terlalu bebas.
YG GW SUKA DARI BUKU INI :
1. tulisannya gede2 dan bhs eng nya gampang...kayak baca novel bhs indo aja...bisa sambil ngemil2 baca nya :p
2. julia nya pemberani, nyamar jadi laki2 dan memotong rambut panjangnya yang indah juga bukan tipe ce lemah
3. adegan ML nya seruuuuuuu bo.......
pertama : sam lagi latihan tinju di belakang kastil (topless boooo), tempat dia mencurahkan stress nya dengan cara mukulin samsak...tiba2 julia datang...suasana jadi 'panas' (kipas2 :p) saat untuk pertama kali nya mereka mau uhuk2 eh kakaknya sam yang jadi pengurus rumah nyari sam kesana ...untung gak ketauan....
dikira nya julia nya udah pergi...gak taunya julia nunggu si sam berbaring naked di bangku taman....first time mereka disana....
(ada adegan kayak shakespeare's in love..pas ce nya yang dadadnya diilit kain, lilitannya di buka co nya pelan2...ahaaaay ;p)
ke dua : pada waktu mereka menggeledah kamar lewis...mereka hampir ketauan pelayan, mereka ngumpet di kamar sebelah di balik dinding atau pintu gitu...trus disitu kembali mereka uhuk2....ada bagian julia jongkok dan oralit hahahaha.....
trus saking terpacu adrenalin bisa2 nya mereka ml sambil standing gitu dan gak kedengeran sama pelayan ( niat banget)
4. ending nya manis....lewis berhasil ditangkap, diusir dari inggris dan julia mendapatkan kastil keluarga sebagai ganti atas tuduhan dia dan pernah di penjara....
julia dan sam merit dan tinggal di kastil itu...happily ever after ^^

Not great; there are worse historical romances, but I wouldn't really recommend reading this one.

We have Julia Reed and Sam Sherryngton we’re on opposite sides until they weren’t!
In a previous story Julia was arrested for treason and seemed to be this ruthless spy who sold secrets and betrayed thousands and even enchanted a Duke close to a proposal!
Sam has known Julia since childhood and could not stop going over all the facts that did not add up!
When Sam visits Julia in prison he becomes more convinced that she is innocent!
When he goes go to confront Edwin he is dead and Sam covered on his blood takes Julia and they go on the run!
They return to her home and dress as Constables to gain access to the home and interview the servants for clues!
Julia in disbelief can’t belief her only relative could use her as a scapegoat to be beheaded!
When all the clues online up to what Sam has told her she is in anger and disbelief but one of the henchmen from London has followed them and keep attacking them within the house!
Julia has never stopped loving Sam but Sam’s family believes he has loved above his station and their can be no happy ending!
But when Sam calls on Colonel Whittington to help sort out this mess he comes up with a brilliant plan! Hopewell Manor employs several people including Sam’s family!
What will happen to them in light of General Reed Julia brothers treason?
There is nonstop action and explosive chemistry between two people who were always meant to be! I love how HEA pulls everything together! Bravo

A very satisfying ending to the trilogy. Sam saves the day, gets the girl and solves the overarching mystery of the traitor. The author based the story on an actual historical event, a massacre of a large British contingent by the Russians in 1843. Later in history, Russian soldiers would be massacred by Afgans, and it still goes on today. There is a satisfying epilogue where we learn of the HEA's of all 3 couples.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is good end to the series. Gayle is a good story teller. Even in the other two books I didn't want to believe the Julia was a Traitor. I liked Sam from the beginning. Enjoy the while series.

Not bad, not good. Some plot holes. Julia felt "whiny" to me and Sam overbearing.

Julia Reed through the help of Sam Sherryngton, secret agent who assisted her in getting her arrested for something she didn't do. But can't even convince the one man that has meant more to her than any other. So she is shocked to find that he rescues her, and she realizes how much he still cares for her, even though it wasn't her testimony that convinced him of her innocence. So now both of them are on the run, and decide to try to find the proof of her brother being the traitor, but framing his own sister for it. But with the danger surrounding them, there is a passion that flares between the two of them, but will they be able to give in to the love they feel for one another?

This is a book that will intrigue you, and I found my self througout the whole of the book, flipping the pages as fast as I could read them, not getting enough, yet at the end fully satisfied by how it turned out. This was the third in a series (of which I only read the 2nd and the third). I liked the characters and love a good frolicking spy book! It had some depth to it...meaning that not everything was hunky dorey happy all the way through. After all, the main character was accused of treason and was framed by her brother. And if the end wrapped up a little too neatly for such a plot....well that fits with the genre!
