Peach-Pit (ピーチ・ピット Pīchi Pitto) is a female manga artist duo in Japan, made up of Banri Sendo (千道 万里 Sendō Banri) and Shibuko Ebara (えばら 渋子 Ebara Shibuko). Their group name derives from the diner hangout Peach-Pit from the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210. Although both have similar styles, with some artwork it is possible to identify which artist drew it. Both are known for their bishōjo styled works. As noted in their books, they are both Geminis and have "Almost flushed our phones down the toilet...twice."
The two of them grew up together and went to the same elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Both started as doujinshi manga artists, but not as Peach-Pit. Then they were scouted by Dengeki Comic Gao!. In 2008, one of their manga, Shugo Chara!, was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga. Shugo Chara was also turned later into an Anime television series.
This ending was a real m!ndf*ck. So, we read 11 volumes, only to find out that the much-sought-after "Embryo" is *NOT!* this wonderful magic egg that can grant anyone who finds it their greatest wish, but instead it is just the name for the heart's egg that every child has. We also find out that the garbage they told us about the heart's egg disappearing when you become an adult is a lie, and that the egg stays inside you as it becomes a part of you. And, that the rainbow shards were not really something Amu needed to find, but were--instead--a part of her all along. Bonus points for Tadase growing up to be a totally sexy young man. (So, he looks like Tsukasa, somewhat? Tsukasa is a good-looking man, too.) ----------------------- While this is *NOT!* the final book of the SC! series, it is the finale of the main plot. V12, *SC! Encore!* is an anthology of short stories about SC! couples.

When I finished volume 10 I honestly thought I was going to hate this volume...
BUT - This was overly cute and kind of emotional. It was nice to look back on the series throughout this volume and see some things from the "future" after the manga is completed too. I'm definitely looking forward to the last volume now.
The main story is concluded in this volume (there is one more volume filled with side stories to cover any loose ends) and after re-reading the entire series, I continue to adore it just as much as when I first read it. The concept, the characters, the art, the pacing, the progress, the character development; I love it all! I'm getting a little teary eyed as I get to the end of this re-read!
This was so very philosophical. It made me feel good about one part of life...the fact that I can truly be an adult at my own pace. This has been one amazing series.
The only reason I give this a four, because Ikuto shows up. Also, Amu says she loves Ikuto, but doesn't know if it is true love. Which she is just a little kid, so that's the best I'll get. We have to remember that this is about a young child, she doesn't want to make a decision before she's even in middle school about her future soulmate.
This book annoyed me a bit, because it really reminded me that this series was written for grade schoolers in Japan. Yeah, this series was NOT written for teens, sorry to disappoint all of you that believed so. No really, originally written for grade schoolers in Japan, why do you think the T.V. Show is really childish? I'm quite annoyed that we're traveling through a starry space in this book! I'm no longer annoyed by Tadase though, grown to respect him a little more in this book. I'm glad he's finally accepting Amu as herself.
Yeah, Starry space just too childish, would have given it a 3 if not for Ikuto. Of course, I have to remember it was originally written for grade schoolers.

This is technically the series finale of Shugo Chara!, the twelfth volume being actually Shugo Chara Encore! but labeled book twelve for English readers. For a finale, Amu ends up going on a magical meta trip through the road of stars to rediscover her guardians – and in essence, herself. It may sound incredibly cloying and ridiculous at first, but like many of the mahou shoujo tropes SC! employs and manages to twist into interesting designs, Amu’s self-realizing adventure is a revealing trip all its own for not only Amu but other certain members of the cast. We see how guardians affect the lives of those who hold them and the true story behind the eggs and the Embryo – and that the egg system runs deeper through the hearts of humans than previously seen before. As a finale and the conclusion of Amu’s character arc into true emotional maturity and discovery of her inner self, volume eleven succeeds on all fronts possible.
Though listed as the penultimate volume, "Shugo Chara!: The Road to the Future, Vol. 11" is actually the final volume to the series in Japan, followed by an 'encore' series that lasted one volume (which will be released as "Shugo Chara! 12" here). As such, Volume 11 has the feel of a series finale that ends on a very high note, with Amu going on a voyage through time and space for her to rediscover as to how much she has changed from who she was in the beginning, due to the help of her Guardians and friends.
Though it's somewhat sad to see the series draw to a close, Peach-Pit made up for it by going above and beyond with their art direction in this volume. Several of the two page spreads would have made for spectacular posters if they were in color.
Honestly, this ending is so bitter sweet. Re-reading it, especially as an adult, has left me more with that feeling; I AM an adult now, and it IS scary growing up- you never quite feel like one, but you have all of these responsibilities, and when that realization sets in it can sometimes be crushing- but at the same time being an adult can be so rewarding, having freedom and being able to pursue your interests as much as you'd like is pretty great. I know this isn't the last volume but I feel like Amu's chara eggs coming back defeated some of the purpose of the journey she just went on (and like I get it, she isn't quite ready to "grow up" yet, but having just the eggs and not her gradian charas feels like it defeated the purpose of going to the cradle).
I never thought I would be so depressed to come to the end of this series, but a lot of things happened that I really can't deal with. Although actually, it's not the end quite yet, so maybe some happiness will lie within the twelfth volume. We shall see. I would give this volume like one star because it made me cry too much for a Thursday morning bit of reading, but I adore this series too much even still to do that so I just can't. I want to, but I can't...... Eager to get my hands on number twelve soon !!!
Amu was a great character, she was a little whiny at times but overall she was able to fight and stand up for what she believed in. I liked her relationship with everyone else.
The guardians added some comedic humor to the series and you can't go wrong with a little battle magic.
I like manga and anime books and Shugo Chara is absolutely a great book for those who like anime and manga. It's all about keeping people's dreams safe with a little help from the gaurdian characters. Shugo Chara includes a lot of drama.
Wow, I really enjoyed this volume! : ) and been enjoying this manga series! <3 can't believe I'm almost finished : ) its really good and love it as much as the anime, definitely recommend this series! : )
