Public prosecutor Kyou Sugiura is pursing an investigation of government corruption involving a young parliamentarian named Tatsuki Toudou. The meeting between the two ambitious young men results in an unintended consequence that neither had been prepared for.
In this standoff between the enforcer and the lawmaker, there is a past that binds them together―and only they can decide the outcome of this duel.
All the warnings for rape, abuse (child and domestic), emotional manipulation, suicide, assault, and well.... A lot of stuff. But that's WHY you read it, because you want to see a dark awful relationship and horrible things happen to people. I'm actually a little disappointed it didn't go further and the first story was real sketchy when we could have gotten a longer story that really delved into the effed up nature of the characters and their relationship. Ah well.
I gave this a low rating because I strangely liked the last two pairs rather then the main ones on the cover. It was an interesting book but lacking strangely in the story.
I'm teetering between a 3 and a 4, and I guess I'll give the benefit of the doubt and round up.
I like the art, and I liked the stories, but I felt they were a bit disjointed in places, and I could have used a bit more of the main pair that was featured in the first couple of chapters.
There's some dark stuff in here, so just be warned.
(There's a really nice Japanese pronunciation guide at the end for names used in the stories. I like when I can hear stuff properly in my head!)
A favorite of mine, I have the paperback copy from DramaQueen which I treasure. I love the sophisticated artwork. Another publisher that I wished I owned more of their books!
