Yoshiki Nakamura (仲村佳樹) is a Japanese mangaka. She was born June 17. Nakamura made her manga debut with "Yume de Auyori Suteki" in the manga magazine Hana to Yume in 1993.
I fell in love with this manga immediately. It drew me in and kept me there. Sadly to say i have been reading it from the internet and hate to wait in between chapters. I've also been watching it's anime and I've seen the first episode of the TV show extravagant challenge based on this manga. But nothing beats the manga because it has all the extra details that are not shown elsewhere.
I'm writing this review for all of the volumes of Skip Beat because i tend to read them all together. I enjoy Kyoko's personality, the way she is inexperienced in various things(such as friends, boyfriends, etc.), serious with others(her acting,etc.)..Her relationship with Ren and how she won't admit to her feelings. I also like the turn of events with Sho, how he is now interested in her.
I like reading this manga over & over again because it basically shows a young girl who had her heart broken and was stepped on, who gathered up all her anger, her little left hope and decided to get revenge. Along the way she makes friends, experiences new feelings, develops a deep love for her acting which changes things around for her.
No matter how many time you get knocked down, you should get back up and fight!!
While an improvement on the previous volume, I'm still not entirely happy on this one - Chiori still bugs me incessantly :/
I mean... they DID explain her background in this so you see her motivation but I just... I don't UNDERSTAND the motivation? "I could never break out as a non-child actor so I'm going to DESTROY KYOUKO because she's doing better than I was, and purposely try to sabotage every aspect of her career in the latest drama". I mean... WTF. Kyouko never did ANYTHING to you D:
At least with Kyouko's feelings towards Shou and HIS career, she has REASON. I mean, she knew him for years and he took advantage of her and her feelings (etc. etc. etc.) but Kyouko has never done ANYTHING to Chiori :|
And the ending of this volume? I'm not sure if that was Kyouko-style fantasies-of-killing, or if Chiori ACTUALLY pushed Kyouko down the stairs and I need to know for sure NOW.

Damnn people like Chiori are scary and hella toxic 😬 The worst part is that while they’re smiling in your face, their original plan is to cut you down 😭

That was a great volume! I really enjoyed this one! I have to admit I really like the members of Bridge Rock, they are super cute and nice. The volume starts with Ren teaching Kyoko how to walk and behave like a model. Then she goes to the set of Box R entirely immersed in her Natsu character, and people are shocked by the change. Chiorin who set a trap for Kyoko failed and now she is the one who does not fit in the drama. Kyoko then goes to her regular job as Bo, where she starts to suspect Chiorin’s identity...
Bene, bene, un altro volume molto intenso che offre diversi spunti interessanti: - il legame tra Kyoko e Ren (e qui si sfonda una porta aperta, almeno per la sottoscritta) - un rapporto che si è evoluto rispetto ai primi volumi, un legame fatto di stima e fiducia (e anche di qualcos'altro, ma chissà quanto ci vorrà prima di avere una bella confessione). Kyoko si rivolge a Ren quando ha bisogno di aiuto; Ren, dal canto suo, ha già ben chiaro quale sia il talento della ragazza e le sue potenzialità. Anche questa volta, il suo intervento sarà essenziale, visto che permetterà a Kyoko di plasmare in maniera definitiva la sua Natsu. E sappiamo bene che, una volta scoccata la scintilla dell'interesse, la ragazza diventa inarrestabile;
- una volta che Kyoko riesce a calarsi per bene nei panni della "sua" Natsu, è interessante notare il modo in cui cambia l'atteggiamento di chi le sta intorno. Infatti, la ragazza riesce non solo a conquistarsi la simpatia delle gallinelle che sono sul set con lei, presentandosi effettivamente come la leader del gruppetto, ma riesce anche a far cambiare idea al regista in maniera pacifica. Natsu non è Mio e Kyoko ha fatto bene a sottolineare la differenza tra le due, senza farsi schiacciare dalle difficoltà dei primi giorni di riprese;

Today’s post is on Skip Beat!, Vol. 22 by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is 192 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Kyoko launching herself at the reader. As it is the twenty-second volume in the long running series you need to have read the first twenty-one to understand the story. There is no foul language, no sex, and mild violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of mainly Kyoko but sometimes from other characters for plot and character development. There Be Spoilers Ahead. From the back of the book- Is there such a thing as being too good? With Ren's help, Kyoko finally gets into her new character. But when she shows up on set and wows the crew with her new spin on the old bully role, it sends some of her costars over the edge! Kyoko's used to dealing with her own demons, but can she stand up to someone else's?!
Review- Kyoko finally gets invested in her new character for Box R and she changes everything on set. The villain for this arc is a fellow actress, Chiori, who is dealing with her past and for some dumb reason decides to take it out on Kyoko. But as always Kyoko is the star and she is just the best. From how she gets Ren to help learn to walk like a model to how she expresses herself as Nastu, Kyoko pulls out all the stops. I do have pity for the other girl and so does Kyoko but that doesn’t excuse her behavior, like pushing Kyoko down the stairs. I can’t wait to read the next volume and see how that resolves.
I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
This was published 10 years ago, it was around this time or maybe even a year later. Around the time of the live action adaptation. Funny enough i had watched the anime loong before i had ever read the manga. And so loving the anime. And excited about the live action.
So discovering the manga, i dived into the series. Wondering if the live action will go further along then the anime. And NOW. I have reread up to the most latest i can get my hands on. And watched the live action twice. I haven't watched the anime in FOREVER. So now i MUST rewatch it so i can see where it ended.
I always love to read how Mogami reinvents or finds her characters! The transformation for her is just amazing to read about! Even when she has unknown enemies after she and she still put them in their place through her character creation and acting chops. Mogami's resilience and determination to be a professional actor ( including guidance from others) are one of my favorite things about her. When I read any book or manga I always hope to leave with something and Mogami fills the void for me.
This is exactly why I love this series SO MUCH!!! Watching Kyoko improve her skills, and really giving her all to a role is very satisfying, and I adore that Ren was a key player in helping her develop her character. They are peak imo. I also love having a bitchy rival character causing problems, it's fun to see Kyoko come out on top in some way against those types.
I really love the way artist draw Kyoko in different characters she plays. I’m in love with this art style also the story and new characters are so engaging, I’m enjoying this manga so much! Heading to read the next volume!❤️
Chilling beginning of the volume. Funny Kyoko, who waits for Ren into the night and talks while chattering her teeth loudly. Ren is always helpful and helps her to identify with Natsume. Something about Chiori's past is discovered. Envious colleagues reassess Kyoko.
Kyoko finds her inspiration for her new role. She lacks the experience to be a "natural" teenager she can adopt a model's attitude by studying with Ren. It doesn't have to make sense if it works. Her mean girl persona is perfection. And DunDunDun!!! An actual cliffhanger!!!
Finally introduced to Kyouko’s Natsu! She looks great, like a mature girl. Chiori will either be an antagonist, or become one of Kyouko’s friend. Also Ren walking like a female model? I also want to see it like Yashiro. 🫣😁
Well, things are definitely getting interesting! I'm beginning to see how this series could be in the thirties in number of volumes. Nothing like a little jealousy to sweeten the drama.
