With the murder attempts behind us, I just want to focus on getting to know these bachelors. Fun not forever, lust not love. That’s my motto, and I plan on sticking to it. Until some of these males start sneaking their way into my heart. A tiger, a dragon, an angel — who can keep them all straight? Then there’s my ex’s twin. He has no right to be anywhere near my stupid, fragile heart that suddenly starts beating wildly whenever he’s around. As if dealing with jealous and possessive alpha males isn’t bad enough, another attack sends everyone at the villa on a tailspin. It’s time for the truth about these bachelors to come out before we have another dead body on our hands. Then on to the family visits!
Continue this steamy and thrilling enemies to lovers, new adult paranormal romance full of tension, mystery, and intrigue in one human - ish woman’s search for true love
Author's Wicked Games is an ADULT dark paranormal romance with some dark themes, possessive males, and adult language. It was originally published on Kindle Vella as Hitched Live. It is set within the world of Azar, along with (in reading order) Hitched, Darkblood Academy, Royally Hitched, Darkblood Prison, Wolfish, Vampish and Of Gods and Wolves, but it's not necessary to read the other series first to enjoy this one.
G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.
Ok second book in this is where the spice starts to happen except..... it is all the same. She says the guys are so different, but again it is exactly the same (boring), and not very well written. Also why does she keep writing about puckered skin? Really irritating 😒. I will finish the series the plot isn't bad, but also not really great. Would I recommend this probably not.
Is the reality tv trash? 100% is it giving me sweet sweet relief from the real world? Yes. SLADE 🥵 if she doesn’t pick him she’s wrong. I feel like Knox would just be too weird after the whole thing with his twin and deacon annoys the ever living shit out of me. Fallon? Meh Fallon who 🥱
If you’re in this for the spice, this is definitely not the place to look. Unfortunately, every scene is basically cookie cutter the same. The plot is super interesting, though Aspen does grate on my nerves at times. I’m desperately hoping Moon Valley will be just as revenge satisfying as I hope. If not I’ll be so disappointed 😭
Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.
I honestly am so on the fence with this series. There’s so much potential, but there’s also SO much frustration. I think what it ultimately comes down to is how much of a hypocrite and how inconsistent Aspen is. She’s empathetic but also not depending on the person. There was a lot of redeeming qualities about this book and it really has you questioning what she’s going to do, but there’s also a lot that just irks me. There’s not much of a review outside of spoilers because the spoiler specifics are what’s brought this down so much for me.
What I loved: - Favorite quote: Ugh, I had a feeling things were starting to get real. Dating five men was going to be worse than twelve. // DIED laughing 😂 can’t relate to any of this but it was comedic af - New characters, several unexpected twists, and I really enjoyed the character developments around Slade and Deacon both. - Knox. I enjoyed him in book 1 and I’m loving him more and more. I know two wolves ending up together might be a bit anticlimactic, but I love an underdog and he’s such a sweet boy actually. - Again, don’t care for reality tv actually but the premise in a book and the structure is pretty great tbh.
What I didn’t enjoy: - Aspen’s hypocrisy - I don’t really know what’s fully going on. Which makes for a great book but also I feel just sort of lost at times. Aspen’s “feelings” for everyone just kind of exhaust me. The author trying to convince us that she’s got feelings for everyone…but she actually doesn’t.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT ——————————————
- A Jack & Castiel double date right out of the gate was absolutely SAVAGE. In the best way possible. - Aspen’s disregard for Jack really set me off. She cared for him and he was so sweet in book one, but he comes back traumatized from his experience and she’s more focused on a movie, puts her hands on her hip and says “ok speak” when they talk, “he shouldn’t get off scot free” comment even though he was literally compelled to do what he did (aka he’s innocent), etc. and then has the audacity later in the book to feel so bad for him. It’s all just fucked. I feel like she thinks she’s empathetic, but she’s actually rude and insensitive af. - Again, her hypocrisy. She kicks Knight off due to being a prince when I think something could have actually developed, meanwhile Fallon’s storyline is WAY fucked up and he’s a bastard prince and she’s “falling” for him. To add to it, their connection seems very shallow and like the author didn’t do enough to keep him around even though his part is so much of the drama/plot in the series. - The inconsistency with what I believe would be Aspen’s feelings. She gets pissed off at Flint for getting jealous when he admits he’s getting territorial and has real feelings for her and is looking for love…but she’s fine with terrible remarks from other men like “at least I got my kiss”, “you can have my sloppy seconds”, etc from several of the other guys. Like what!? - Flint being eliminated in general. And Castiel getting a gold pin? I felt there was some true connection building with Flint and instead Avalon or Castiel should have been eliminated because of the lack of real connection. But instead, Flint is let go. It makes me consistently angry. - Slade being eliminated was great, because I didn’t enjoy him. And I was irked when he got brought back. But also, his character development was fantastic. I felt he was disingenuous, however, her meeting his family, him prioritizing not using his powers, and how he grew up really made him grow on me. I actually like the guy. Still not as much as Knox, but way more than the other guys. - Deacon is a shady fuck. He says some really fucked up things to Aspen, but she’s in love with him? I know he says he’s there for love but something just seems off. Especially when he’s upset and makes the comment about being between her legs. That’s truth coming out when heated. - I LOVE the family meetings. Slade’s mom is so sweet, living for the drama in the underworld, and meeting Deacon’s Pop and his dwindling mentality were some great aspects of the book. - Fallon and Aspen’s “connection” is very lackluster. And Fallon’s way of getting sex with Aspen and the words he said were eerily similar to Aspen’s to Deacon when they fucked. Which makes me think both Fallon and Deacon are corroborating and shady. - The cliffhanger was something. I loved it but also her struggling with Deacon annoys me. Maybe he’s a friend (continues to hint at this) but I hate the “doing the right thing premise” instead of her coming to terms with their lack of connection or analyzing fucked up shit that he does and says.
"I did like broken things, broken people. If I could focus on fixing someone else, I didn’t have to look at myself too hard."
TITLE - Wicked Games AUTHOR - G.K. DeRosa TYPE - Series; #2 of 6 in 'The Hitched Live Saga" POV - 1st Person - Multiple GENRE - Urban fantasy, Romance READ DATES - 3/7/2024 to 3/8/2024
MAIN CHARACTERS - Aspen, Deacon, Fallon, Knox, & Slade
INITIAL REACTION - Ugh… I'm still unsure how I feel about this series so far. I'm glad that this actually ends in the next book instead of extending to all 6. The pacing was way off and it makes a lot more sense to have a new competition and characters than to continue to draw this one out.
I'm writing this review with slightly glassy eyes. It's not even fair.
At the start of this book, Aspen had her twelve bachelors down to eight. By the end of this book, it's been reduced by half again. She's been getting closer to each of them, and to reduce the numbers at all wasn't easy for her. Though, in a way, she was lucky... one elimination didn't happen due to circumstances beyond her control.
By the end of this book, she's visited a couple of the bachelors' homes and met their families. The way the author has set it up is fabulous because with each visit, it shows a look in their lives if Aspen doesn't choose them in the end. It shows the life they'll have if she ends up with another. It's great because it shows a future they may have and will leave you feeling a bit better that they won't just be at home wallowing, but it's still so hard. She's clearly falling for all of them, and they all show more of themselves than ever.
In the end, you know she has to choose. I half jokingly want a version where she can have all four in the end because that's the least heartbreaking way! Alas, it isn't, so I know there are more tears for her AND me in the future!
WICKED GAMES (The Hitched Live Series Book 2!) It is an adult paranormal & dark themed. The story picks up where, SWEET REVENGE Book 1, ends. This is when Aspen knows the games the producers are playing our dangerous and deadly. None of these gorgeous males are human, but she cares for each and everyone. To have to eliminate even one was very difficult for her. Some she eliminated for their own safety, and some for the safety of them all. She was now down to four. A Fae, an Incubus, Tiger shifter, & never forget about the Wolf shifter (the twin brother of her ex-mate!) This is where the next dates get dangerous. Aspen must visit the home and meet the family of the remaining four bachelors. The story doesn't end here. It will continue and end with SAVAGE LOVE, releasing March 14th, 2023!
As I read the three books at a nonstop pace, I did forget to review each one individually. One could say that there’s no originality in writing about the same subject; however G.K. Derosa always surprises us. The story could have the same main theme, but the way that the facts are developed indicates how creative is this wonderful writer. This time, our main character is Aspen, a half blood that could not change into her wolf form, and a fantastic choice of bachelors directed by the well-known characters Sheppard and Dax. A fluid writing, a fast paced narrative, mysteries to be solved, hot scenes, passion, jealousy, friendship, and compassion are part of this serie. The settings are incredible and it’s great to revisit some places in Azar and meet again characters that are so dear to us. Certainly, this was a journey to remember.
This author has always drawn me into her books. All of her books are so good. This one delivers it with more spice. It will draw you in with the drama of a supernatural competition, the drama will keep you reading.
There are spicy, hot scenes, I just kind of glance over but it is an adult book. Not giving it away, you have to read it. I mean HOT.
For me in this series go Team Knox!!
If you haven't read her other books, go back and read them as well. They all give a fantastic story and you will understand the world much better. You will find a favorite and keep looking for them in other books. I will always be for Hansom Ransom!
Aspen's pursuit of revenge has taken an unexpected turn! Her resolve is waning as her heart once again beats for love. In this second instalment, the elimination rounds help narrow the field to the top four amidst the dramas.
The story also offers insight into the remaining candidates as Aspen visits their families. However, the two main bachelors with the most drama-filled storylines I have been looking forward to have yet to be visited. We can expect those in the next book, Savage Love!
I cannot wait to find out the true culprit responsible for the attacks on Fallon and the motive behind them. Above all, I am curious about who will be the one for Aspen.
Main Characters: Aspen, Slade, Deacon, Fallon & Knox
Review: I get the premise of the book, but my problem is the same one I have with the Bachelorette. I just don't get how you can sleep with two different guys with in hours of each other because you are "in love".
Quotes: "Why hadn’t I made my move back then? Would it have changed anything? If Aspen and I had dated, would our mate bond have clicked into place instead of that with my brother? There were tons of old pack stories about twins sharing the same wolf soul."
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Hitched Live series and ends with a cliffhanger. This book takes its time, and the reader goes through all of the dates. The threats and some of the bad guys are revealed. No spoilers, but there are shocking twists!
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I am starting to not be able to relate to Aspen. She is finally able to have mindless sex and does. I have a hard time believing she has real feelings for anyone.
The line I highlighted is the line that made me be completely done with the book. The FMC is extremely obnoxious and sadly I won’t be reading any more.
Jack was compelled, does she not understand what that means? It’s bad enough in the first chapter of this book she is saying how he shouldn’t have been let off scoff free. Clearly she doesn’t understand that he had no control of his body or brain.
It’s clear Aspen is one of those people you see screaming on Instagram every time they don’t get their way.
The anxiety! Aspen has some AWFUL luck! I also forgot that the show is airing as it’s playing out and people can draw their own conclusions. I know everyone wants to protect their friends from getting hurt. But it’s the name of the game. The men chose this.
Me on the other hand. I did not know there would be this much trouble! I don’t even know who I would pick and I’ve spent a great deal of time thinking about who she will end up with when this is all said and down and I still can’t figure it out. ANXIETY!
One woman, twelve supernatural bachelors, what could go wrong? Attempted murder, multiple times as Aspen and the bachelors try to figure out who is behind the attempts. Along with the murder attempts, Aspen still has to play the Hitched game. And that means elimination of two or three bachelors. Which bachelors will get to stay? Who will be sent home?
I read the short prequel to this series and wasn't completely sure I wanted to buy the rest. I'm soooo glad I did. It's not a typical shifter or supernatural story and a typical reverse harem tale. It's something unique and completely attention grabbing. There are plenty of romance and steamy scenes with a mixture of heartache, action, and mystery. A little something for everyone, you won't be disappointed.
Very enjoyable and entertaining read. Book 2 picks right up were book 1 ended. Aspen trying not to form any love connection with any of the Bachelors. But when passion, jealousy, and steamy encounter are at play I see Aspen having a hard time making the right decision. Still I can't wait to see what drama is going to unfold when Aspen returns to Moon Valley.
I really enjoyed this. I love the relationship Aspen has with each of her bachelors that are left, they are all so sweet but so different. This had a good balance of love/romance and action and kept me wanting to read. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next one. Gk DeRosa always an amazing story teller love her work :) definitely reccommend.
Just like some reality tv shows where watching it is like proper car crash tv, this book brings the trashiness yet enough storyline to keep me hooked. I actually really like the characters, and am starting to care for them and what happens to them! I think I can probably predict what’s going to happen and who she will end up with but I can’t wait to see where it ends in the finale.
I would honestly not have thought a Supernatural Bachelorette book series would be as good as this one has been. In this book, with the number of bachelors narrowed down, you get to see a lot more development and background into each of them. All of them are great until the end (Deacon lets me down a bit with his sudden outburst of meanness).
Not wanting to give any spoilers but this is such a great story so far. My favourite hitched series so far and I can’t wait for the next book, I know who I’m cheering for.
Such a steamy read. Definitely ramping up on those connections. My heart was so happy with one of the bachelor twists that happened. A must read if you’re looking for a little bit of 🥵🌶️
So I didn't quite time my reading accordingly as now I have to wait 10 days for the next book. This series already has my heart strings pulling. Now, to sit and wait...ugh!
I love all the drama of reality tv and the merge of supernaturals is the perfect mix. I can't wait to see what's in store when Aspen returns to moon valley . I'm team deacon but man can I see the potential for the others.
I think this one was a little bit better than the first in terms of the plot, but it’s extremely repetitive and the spice is very bland and Aspen is very annoying.
I’m still going to read it though because it’s an easy read and I need to know how it concludes.
I love this series! It's so fun. It makes me laugh and the men are so easy to love. It does get a little confusing with the bachelor's and trying to keep them straight but that's to be expected. It's so easy to imagine this playing out.
More depth was definitely added in this 2nd book of the Hitched Live series.. I am so enthralled in this storyline! I can't get enough! Definitely MAJOR surprises happened in this one..and MAJOR cliffhanger! Yet, I highly recommend this series!
