It's a beautiful book, with beautiful patterns and a lot of practical instructions, leading to superb results, however at times the instructions are difficult to interpret, and looking at the available photos and diagrams doesn't always help. Mostly the photos are unclear, and the instructions are spare. The steps don't always seem to follow a logical order. The dressmaker's carbon paper is near impossible to use. I had more success tracing the face, using a light box. I spent a lot of time puzzling and trying to work out what I was supposed to do next. The best way seems to be to give something a go and see if it works. I noticed that she/they had adjusted the doll's head position by sewing an "invisible seam" at the neck, once finished. This is visible in the photo on the cover but is not mentioned as an option. Also, the decorative cord on the dress on the front cover is too thick to achieve a neat job. I ended up using stranded embroidery cotton, which looks a lot better provided all the threads stay together. Twisting it a bit helps. I'm not sure I've interpreted the instructions for the lace collar and cuffs correctly. I'm finding the pivot point between the legs problematic. It frays. For the soles of the feet I slipped in little bits of plastic used to cut patchwork templates. Instead of trying to fuse these to the sole of the foot with fusible web, as instructed, I tacked them in place and took out the tacking after I'd stuffed the legs. There may be some errors. I found one. The cuff pattern says to cut one. Clearly you need two! Or do you do one double, cut on the fold, then cut on the fold line to have one for each sleeve?
