I saw this musical when I was about 12 in NYC with the original cast and fell in love with it, with Shakespeare and developed a huge crush on the leading man, Raul Julia. The music was great fun, the story brought me to shakespeare and like any female of a certain age (over 10 and under 80) I loved and rooted for Julia. Funny, touching, very much of its time yet I reread my copy just recently and lucked onto a CD of the musical and found it as fresh and as funny and as touching as when I was a kid falling in love with it the first time around... the difference is I know what the inside jokes and phrases like "wonderland is not where Alice is" and "penis envy" mean nowadays. Still hate Sylvia, love Julia and fall in love with Proteus everytime.
