The Morcyth Saga #6

Shades of the Past

Rate this book
Enough is enough! Time to kick some butt. James, along with those who have gravitated to him since his first arrival to this world, go on the offensive against the forces of the Empire. Lots of fighting, magic. Also mixed in with the Allies is the Hand of Asran. Think Druids with attitude.

The Morsyth Saga is an interesting action-fantasy series. I seem to remember the pacing being a little bit off on the sixth book, and I still haven’t finished the seventh (and I won’t necessarily read the sequel series). But it’s a fun yarn, and the author does a pretty good job of not making magic insanely OP and of putting James in real danger, despite the foregone conclusion that he survives and stays on the ranch in this world (I’m making a wild guess at that last bit, but I really don’t think James will go back home now).

I liked the main character and have read all the books but the last one. I like the main character and want to know the conclusion of the whole matter. Because of his creativity I can overlook writing mistakes and his writing improved over the different books that he wrote. The writers personal story is important me also. He went for his dream and I give him kudos for raising kids and writing and keeping it all together as well as he did.

This is one of the most underrated series out there. Are you looking for a fun engaging plot, with a quick pace, and inviting characters. Give this series a chance. Perfect for a immersive session of just a few hours.

I wonder is the plot will ever change. Seems to be war, fight, James win .. war, fight, James win... 💬

The saga continues for James and Miko. Miko comes into his own here and James faces many new trials and tribulations. A story of friendship, good vs. evil, fighting battles and finding the courage to do what is right. There is a new magical element introduced in this book and is a interesting addition. Love, friendship, teamwork and mercy prevail.

becoming that which you hate

revenge, even for the right reasons, is a gut-wrenching decision to make. planning to take it against an entire country is destruction that burns to the soul. The Empire is being pushed back by James and his friends, but the horrors burn both ways and the burning magic leaves scars

Great story, weak writing. This is the case throughout the whole series.

"Then we do stood a chance," he said with a grin.
This quote, lifted from the third book is only one of many examples. I read the series anyway and enjoyed it. The writing did set my teeth on edge at times.

I think written for teenagers but reminding me of BelGarion, love this series even tho its style is simple, I find that refreshing and interesting too. Looking forwards to more of James in the future. His story can end with the last book, surely?

I recommend this book because, long story short they lose a friend somehow and they need to find him before something bad happens.
