"Sweetheart, I know what a rough time it is going it alone. You've made a good life for yourself, filled your time with meaning and purpose. You're too much your own person for me to overshadow you. You've carried a big load on your shoulders." His voice dropped to a honeyed coaxing that sent a shiver of pleasure down her spine. "Let me carry some of that now. I want to love you, Lily, to cherish and protect you. I need you."

"Autumn Flames" is the story of Lily and Reece.

A beautiful and mature romance between two polar opposite strangers. Our heroine is a school principal, who travels to a remote Chilean ranch to study about Guanacos. When she finds a man about to hunt them, she shoots at him instead. She soon faces off against the hero, who pins her down and passionately kisses her. As she is forced to take shelter with him during a snowstorm, he instantly proposes. But things are not as simple..
She's 36 year old widow, he is a 43 year old widower father of three. She comes from humble beginnings, he is richer than sin. He loves taxidermy and hunting, she loves animals, and has five pets. He has a sheepdog, she adopts a stray cat (named General Jackson, whose scenes totally made me laugh out loud). He is a wild primitive man, she is a controlled, poised lady. He has women pining after him, and his older sons are against the union- she has no one on her side- but him.

And he wants her, and oh so passionately.
There is courtship, romance, angst and a HEA in this one.
My only grievance is the heroine giving in to all that sheepskin, mink and rabbit fur stuff. Stick to your principles hun! Also VERY personal pet peeve- I liked the hero in parts, but I genuinely felt a little revulsion over his love for hunting and killing animals. But they compromised!

His weight shifted and moved over her.

His voice was rough. "I'll make you mine forever. Ill bind you to me with fetters that you can't break."

Anyways, a good read!
