Oh wow. Was this ever the lamest non-romance I ever read!

First off, this is a religion book which had I known in advance would never have gone near it so in that respect, would it be asking too much for Authors/Publishers to freaking categorize it as such? Not everyone shares your beliefs and wants it shoved down our throats! How would it feel if other religions did that to you? Sheesh!

Secondly, when you have 2 MCs who constantly argue for 99% of the story, have no intimate scenes, attraction for one another or any deep feelings, saying an ILY at the end does NOT make it a "romance".

Also, a 7 year old kid is NOT a baby! He doesn't need to talk, act and be treated as such. Give me a break!

DNF

PS: The "Christian" part was added to title after I wrote my review....

I got the first few audiobooks of this series on sale and thought I'd give it a whirl. I have a mixed relationship with Laura Scott's books in that some of the series I've read (Callahan Confidential, especially) are too repetitive/cookie cutter, while others I've rather liked. This book (and series) is unfortunately on the repetitive side, with rather weak FMCs. I got a bit annoyed with the FMC in books 1 and 2, but book 3 was better (probably because she was a deputy, so she had smarts), but rolling around to book 4 (this one) was my breaking point with this series. The FMC in this book Grace absolutely drove me up the wall, with how whiny and illogical she was. Add that to the constant repetition (how many times do you need to give the first and last name of a character or state their relationship to someone, especially in the same chapter). It might have been better if I were reading it so I could skim instead of listening to the audiobook, but I doubt it. After churning my way through the first 4 books in less than 2 weeks, I definitely need a break from this series - maybe I'll come back to it, maybe I won't. We'll see...

Exciting continuation of a super series!

Grace is horrified when she wakes up and discovers that her six-year-old son Caleb has been kidnapped right out of his bed. So she calls the one man she knows can help her find him, Brady. Unfortunately, she had never told Brady that they had made a child together, Caleb. Brady figured out quickly that Caleb is his, but has to work through his anger and hurt to help try to find his son. But the bad guy seems to always be one step ahead of them. Can they find Caleb and figure out why this happened? Can Brady let go of his hurt to protect both of them? Read this and see. Read these in order. There are 2 other series set in Milwaukee that happen before this one. You can check them out too!

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kisses but no steam. The characters are vivid and engaging. The Christian ideals are woven into the story, and showcases how hard it can be to trust in God, when bad things happen to you. This is a great series. Enjoy!

This was such an awesome read. Grace and Brady have a past. Grace ended their relationship 7 years ago for a good reason but didn't tell him that she was pregnant with their son Caleb. Brady finds out the truth when she reaches out to him when Caleb is kidnapped in the middle of the night.
Thrown together, they must search for their abducted son and his kidnapper while unraveling the reason why Caleb was abducted. This was a riveting suspense read with a wonderful plot line, action, second chance at love, and danger.

In MIDNIGHT ABDUCTION, a six-year-old boy is taken from his bedroom at night and Grace Ramsey, his mother calls Brady Finnegan, an old flame who is now in the FBI to for help. But when Brady he sees her son’s picture, he immediately recognizes that he’s his son since they look exactly alike.

Okay, so that’s a bit tropey, but it’s a romance. I enjoy these Christian romantic suspense series novels that I’ve been buddy reading with my mom because they have good pacing, with a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter and no slow spots, and the books are quick, lasting about six hours each on audiobook. The Finnegans are a family of nine siblings, all of them first responders. As the two parents drive around t town, searching for clues to where their son could be, the net is slowly closing in. But will they find him before the kidnapper does something rash? This was a suspenseful one! 4/5 stars.

This is a tough book to rate. I really enjoyed the mystery and how Grace and Caleb had a passed relationship. What I didn't care for was the character Grace. She was selfish and entitled, and a couldn't find anything in her that I liked. Reading how these characters came together at the end just didn't make sense. I love the idea of counseling but it would definitely take more time for a relationship like theirs to work.

I enjoyed reading this book!

It's enough suspense to keep one going. The family's embracing the faith is encouraging. There is enough time between dating and engagement considering their past history.

The FMC was extremely unlikeable and made this book difficult to get through. I only finished so quickly because I listened to it.

I listened to an audiobook, but not Audible. Book 4 is Brady’s story and a good one. Fresh ideas and premise.

I like the character Brady but I could not take Grace. Her irrational thought process of trying to find her son and keeping it from Brady was too much.

Another enjoyable reading this series. I did think Grace’s reason for keeping Caleb secret wasn’t plausible but then I’m not sure there’s any reason for keeping a child secret from his dad for six years that makes sense.

Very good suspense with clean romance

This book has lots of suspense and twists. The family of characters are wonderful, although Grace was annoying through most of the book. I really like the way the story unfolds and the happy ending. The clean romance and the way faith is sprinkled into the story adds to my enjoyment.
