“ God, I wanted to kiss her. I didn’t even care if it evolved to f*cking, I just wanted my mouth on hers, wanted to steal her breath and give her mine.”

What an excellent conclusion to this satisfying read!

We were left in the last book with a jumbled mess that the hero and heroine got themselves into due to their dishonesty and I was anxious to see how they would resolve it. Scott drew me in by his actions in displaying his love for Tess to the goal of their HEA. Scott didn’t come across as play boyish as we were introduced to him in the first book but he chased Tess and knew what he wanted which is always interesting to read.

The whole series was very well written and I enjoyed it. Laurelin Paige does not disappoint with the billionaire romances. I recommend.

With the way the 1st book ended, I have been waiting impatiently to read this final book. That was one heck of a mess to get out of, and I had no idea how Scott was gonna do it. I never would have guessed what would happen next.

I will admit that Scott lost some of the intensity in his character that I loved so much from the first book. He just came off so powerful and intense like my favorite characters Hudson and Donovan. The power his father had over him kind of took that away for me. I just felt Scott was untouchable in the first book.

What I did love was how Scott wasn't afraid to admit his feelings for Tess and he put up one heck of a fight for her. That right there won me back over. I need to see the man chase the woman. Those are the relationship I just adore in my books.

I loved how this all came together in the end and how Scott got rid of all the obstacles in his way of Tess. It was pretty romantic. The side story with her friends was a nice bonus as well.

THE RECYCLED “WORKING GIRL” SAGA FINALLY ENDS …

Honestly? I rejoiced when it ended.
What did I learn in three books besides the parts that were lifted straight out of Working Girl? There are lots of hot Sebastians and they have a crazy amount money, but money doesn’t buy happiness and Scott is unhappy with his position as man at the top. His career passion is elsewhere in the company and doesn’t fit into his demanding father’s master plan, so there’s a man above the man at the top. He and Tess make a sexy team, and mostly prove it in dirtyish sex scenes at the office, where Tess already has a thing for being watched that begs getting caught. Neither one is pursuing “more.” Tess wants to succeed and Scott doesn’t think he wants a relationship, but can’t yet work Tess sexually out of his system. Still, he’s been hiding something by omission about Tess’s boss Kendra, and now we know what that is.

So this is the closure book where Tess tries to pull off the finale of her charade and prove her worth without getting fired, while Scott navigates his dad and Kendra. It’s all about the angst. Lots of balls are in the air, between the engagement and the romantic triangle, and the results of what happens when Tess’s big deception comes out and reveals who she really is. It was all so bland that much of the book didn’t stick with me. I only remember the high points that match Working Girl. So disappointing.

Not the author's finest work. None of these books remind me of the couples or situations that Laurelin Paige has created in the past that made me read her books over and over again. This one began with multiple strikes against it for imitating Working Girl. Any hope that the books would deviate significantly from the film’s basic concept got dashed, though some of this book followed its own course, dull as it was. Scott’s been outed for being engaged to Tess’s boss/mean girl friend Kendra who returns from being M.I.A. to claim him … even though all is not as it seems and the engagement is not a love match. So clichéd now, but not 32 years ago when Working girl released.

There was plenty of drama in the wrap-up book, since Tess is miffed because she assumes Scott lied to her about being single and used her, because he was engaged. And Scott turns rather wimpish while groveling to get Tess back and fix things for himself at the company. What happened to that imperious man at the top? The finagling they pull off to seal the charity sponsorship deal and allow Scott to get out from under his controlling dad’s thumb was both original and still reminiscent of what happens in Working Girl, just with a different spin. Scott easily could have ended the whole engagement charade with some alpha assertiveness, but that was too easy. He took the hard route to draw the story out.

I wasn’t entertained by this book in the least. Kendra undergoes a personality transformation to make her likable, Tey continues providing comedy relief as the upbeat but disabled friend, and there were more continuity issues. It was almost at the end of the story before we learn that Tess is bi-racial (Iranian dad) – not white -- and has brownish skin. Where did that come from? Did the author change her mind midstream while writing? And then there was the Uyghur twins – what name is that? I will never read this duet again. Just watch Working Girl instead. It may be dated, but it’s still entertaining and relevant and Melanie Griffith rocks in it.

Man In Love, the second instalment of Laurelin Paige’s Man In Charge series was a page turner. As we watched Tess and Scott’s journey unfold we were captivated by the passion, drama, twists and turns that consumed each page. Falling in love was easy for these two, the challenge is finding a way to hold on to what they adore. Is their love worth the sacrifice it may entail? Great conclusion to the series.

Solid 4.25 Stars!!!

I was really wondering how all of this was going to work out. I am really thrilled with how everything played out with all the characters involved and look forward to the next book involving Scott’s family.

Scott’s grandpa was the best!!!

I will say I figured out the problem (bad blood….issues whatever it is you want to call it) between Teyana and Kendra. It certainly helped the storyline come together when it all seemed like it was so far apart that bringing it altogether was going to be difficult

Man in Love delivered on the romance, steam and a HEA. After the cliffy from book 1 Man in Charge I was excited to find out how it would go.
Tess never disappointed. Always strong and determined when it came to her beliefs and wants. Secure and vocal in her sexuality when being with Scott.
Like with Man in Charge her friendship with Tey was a highlight. These two made me smile as did Scott’s grandfather.
I felt Scott lost some of his alpha intensity which I had come to enjoy so much in book 1. In MiL he kind of felt too soft and I don’t know if it was because of his evolving feelings for Tess. Only a minor issue that didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story.

Tess and Scott had just as in book 1 insane chemistry. It oozed off the pages. Laurelin Paige knows how to write dirty talk from both the female and male perspective to perfection. Hot!

Man in Love was a terrific and light romance. It had its surprises along with a good story and likable characters. Just what I needed.

“We have to choose to love ourselves the most.”

Scott Sebastian has a lot of explaining to do. He can’t just click those magical fingers and have me forgiving him. But then again...they are really quite magical fingers. Perhaps he can try to earn my forgiveness after he explains himself. Then the fingers can do the talking.

The beautiful Tess Turani remains professional and dedicated to her cause. With Kendra back at the helm she has to stand up for herself and show she means business.

Scheming, interfering parents with bucket loads of money are the worst. I bet Henry Sebastian is a republican. I think I hate him. Now Irving Sebastian, I like him a lot. That man talks a whole lot of sense. Grandpas for the win.

I’ve loved reading this duet. Loved Tess and her dedication, her strong business acumen, her devotion to her friend, her determination to get support for a cause that she absolutely believes in, her passion. The sexy times are hot too. I loved how she brought a powerful man like Scott Sebastian to his knees.

“With her, I felt like I was spinning. Or rather, with her I noticed that I was spinning, that I’d always been spinning, like I was on a merry-go-round or a hamster wheel, and she was standing tall and steady on the ground, and for the first time in my life, I wanted to get off the wheel. I wanted more than the ride. I wanted to stand steady. With her.”

“I wanted my mouth on hers, wanted to steal her breath and give her mine.”

I binged this one in a single session, finishing in the wee hours of the morning. This author likes to toy with my emotions and this book had me gasping out loud on more than one occasion.

It was the perfect emotion packed ending to their complicated love story. I swooned, I cried and I cursed the author more than once. This was just fantastic!

Man in Love completes the Man in Charge Duet. We finally get a conclusion for Scott and Tess's story. This pair aren't without their flaws which was actually great to see in a romance.

Book two continues where book one finished on that cliffy. How can Scott dig himself out of that mess and what does it mean for Scott and Tess. That isn't even touching on the issues Tess has to deal with. Well, each time we think we are getting the answer Laurelin throws in another curveball.

The sexy times are hot and the pair have their kinks. This book and the duet were a solid read.

Sinfully delicious! The Man in Charge duet kept me hooked throughout.
“I’d only seen the trailer for Scott Sebastian, but I was already sure I’d love the whole film.”

Heroine : Terese Turani. Assistant to the owner of Conscience Connect, who would love nothing more than to be able to partner worthy charities with companies who are willing to sponsor them. She was a passionate and loyal friend who loved life. It was impossible not to love her.

Hero : Scott Sebastian. Billionaire. VP of image at Sebastian Industrial Corporation. Sexy, domineering player. He’s never known love, didn’t think he would be capable of it or want it, but now that he’s found it he’ll have to make a huge sacrifice to hold on to it.

Plot/Pace : Man In Love continues where Man in Charge left off. Tessa has just found out the true price of being a Sebastian. Months before meeting her, Scott had made an agreement with his father which now makes his and Tessa’s relationship seem impossible. How much are they willing to sacrifice for love? Can they find a way to be together?
Boyfriend. What kind of word is that? Manfriend seems more appropriate […] Whatever you call me, I just want to be yours.”

Sexiness : This duet is filled under contemporary romance, but I’d add an Erotic subgenre to it because wow does it have some sizzling hot romance scenes.
“Like heavy magnets with no choice but to slam together at every possible point. It made me feel dizzy and twisted inside. Made me feel twisted with her, not just literally as our arms and legs got tangled, but on another level. Spiritual or emotional.”

Feels : Loved Scott’s character growth. It made me smile and swoon.

Facts: Man in Love is book 2 of the Man in Charge duet by author Laurelin Paige. Told from both points of view with a happy ending. Tropes: contemporary romance | erotic romance | billionaire romance.

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: MAN IN LOVE.

GENRE:CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE.
AUTHOR:LAURELIN PAIGE.POV:POV:
TYPE: BOOK #2 OF THE DUET MAN IN CHARGE.
POV: FIRST PERSON.
MY RATING: 5" my heart beating out of my chest" stars.

Man in Love is a conclusion to Scott and Tessa's twisted, suspenseful, and love awakening love story in the duet Man in Charge.

Book 1 ended with a blast...come on...it was totally unfair to end it there...I was literally screaming at the top of my lungs with how the secrets destroyed the unique love, the connection they had developed.

After reading this book, it's safe for me to say that this one is more emotional, edgy, angsty...the agony of separation was clear between them.

This book shows us how a person in love will forfeit any war just to be with the person he loves...
All Scott ever wanted was to promote to a more advanced position but now he desires something else...more so than ever. But he has to fight the shackles holding him from Tessa...Will he leave everything for her...or was she never his first priority?

At the end of book 1, Tessa was in for the king of shock...she could have never imagined in the million that the man she has given her everything was just an illusion...the real man was engaged to someone else...a woman she has known her whole life but never suspected for such a thing.

If you are looking for just a contemporary romance to pass your time then you are in the wrong place...but if you are looking to just lose yourself in the life of these amazing beautifully crafted characters, a plot which will leave you sleepless night, suspense which will just kill you slowly then this is for you...Drama queens, you have met your book match!

I was consumed by Scott & Tessa’s story. After the cliff hanger from their previous book, I needed their story and it was worth the wait! As soon as it hit my kindle, even though it was the middle of the night, I read for hours. I couldn’t stop. Scott & Tessa’s story gave me all the feels!

With the little teaser of Brett’s book, I need it ASAP. I just loved these characters & their world and I can’t wait to visit them again.

Man in Love is another superbly written sexy and emotional romance from Laurelin Paige, set in the dramatic world of the rich and powerful. It was an explosive and enticing combination of dramatic storyline, incredible characters, intense emotions and nuclear hot passion.

This story is the second book of a duet and must be read in order. At the end of the first book, Tessa came to know about a devastating secret involving the man she loves, Scott Sebastian and her best friend aka boss Kendra. But it isn't what it looks like. Everything at jeopardy. Scott's position and future in his father's company. The deal about the donation to Tess" passion DRF that actually brought them together. Their relationship. Too many things are at stake. Most importantly their hearts.

This story was all about finding what is most precious to one's heart and go for it. Tess always had issues about self worth and standing up for herself but Scott made her realise that she shouldn't settle for less and she should fight for everything she deserves. Be it a better recognition of her work and value from her best friend. Be it demanding the full devotion from the man she loves. Similarly, before Tess, Scott's life revolved around getting promoted to a better position in his father's company and to earn his approval. But Tess made him feel true love and happiness for self are more important than any position. The story had ups and downs and I almost thought they cannot be together. But everything fell into their places.

I loved Scott even more in this story. He is still the sexy, cocky, dominating, controlling beast. But I loved to see his confusions and dilemmas. I enjoyed seeing him go crazy for a woman for first time. And I swooned by the ways he changed everything just for their love. And Tess was her sassy, sultry and smart self. My heart broke for her pain but I know it was worth it. She is the biggest heart as she felt so much for everyone. All the sweet aching steamy feels were poured in this story. And the chemistry was ON FIRE.

Man In Love by Laurelin Paige is the sweet and sexy reprieve from everyday worries. I just lost myself in the pages of this seductive and heartfelt romance.

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

If you haven’t read Laurelin Paige, there is something you should understand about her romances. They usually involve heroes most would term “alpha-heroes.” These are men with decided views on life, and controlling situations is their superpower. It’s actually quite interesting how she oftentimes quiets them. She tends to write duets or trilogies, and the first book or two are narrated through one point of view: the heroes. As a reader, it’s maddening as you encounter these overtly dominant masculine overtures through the specter of the heroine’s voice, and you long for the hero’s point of view, to read their longing for the heroine. Because that is key to a Paige romance: the hero falls decidedly hard, usually against his own better judgment, for the heroine of the story. It becomes a requirement of her heroes to do so, and the heroine’s point of view encapsulates it in a way that makes us distrust the hero’s motives. What does this mean: her heroines oftentimes are unreliable narrators. In crafting her romances this way, it creates a tension that drives her readers forward, and you can’t help but gorge on the manna of her stories because the trials and tribulations of their journey are heartfelt and oftentimes angsty. Yet, her heroes exist in a world of dominance, deftly positioning their heroines in emotional, mental, and physical spaces that can make the reader feel uncomfortable, given our own world. I’m sure many of us would rebuke a Paige hero (even though we might fantasize about that level of dominance). In a #metoo world, romance can problematize heroic constructions.

Enter Laurelin Paige’s Man in Charge duet. With Man on Top, Man in Charge, and now, Man in Love, Paige has aptly written a hero in Scott Sebastian who is challenged by his privilege and his gender. One of the most insightful aspects of reading Man in Charge and Man in Love is the internal dialogue of her hero, specifically in Man in Love. What Paige has done is evolve her typical Paige hero into a “woke” representation of a modern-day hero, one perched ready to acknowledge his shortcomings so that he can become a better partner for his heroine. And this, my friends, is an exciting turn for romance, whether we want to admit it or not.

Man in Love, Paige’s final book in this duet, is the continuing story of Scott Sebastian and Tessa Turani. I will provide no story summary because the blurb for this book offers enough, and I don’t want to spoil anything about this book, given that Paige left us with a cliffhanger in Man in Charge. What should you know?

The chemistry between Scott and Tessa continues on its fiery path. This is also one of my favorite parts of a Laurelin Paige romance. They are so darn hot, and Tessa and Scott are no different. Their $exual tension bleeds off the page. Yet, it’s also their emotional connection that draws you into their journey.

I mentioned Paige’s undercurrent of discussions about privilege in my Man in Charge review. This conversation continues in Man in Love. When Scott ponders how Tessa makes him “a better man,” he’s noting how she challenges him to see the world beyond his privileged one. Interestingly enough, Scott and Tessa’s lives are very similar while seemingly dissimilar. Each is struggling with various restrictions on their freedom. One would think that Scott, with his family’s money and legacy, would have the most freedom, but Paige explores that his freedom is restricted if he follows his family’s expectations for him. His familial responsibility restrains him in ways he doesn’t realize until Tessa. Like Scott, Tessa is hindered by her lack of resources and the mindset of “settling.” Until she meets Scott, she doesn’t realize that her mindset is hindered, and it’s the potential cause of feeling caged by her job, her friendship, and past love relationships. Paige enters us brilliantly into this discussion of privilege forcing us to question its impact on our thinking. While it would seem counterintuitive to engage in these discussions about privilege, racial injustice, and gender inequality, romances provide the perfect platform as love as a vessel for empathy is the answer to remedying these issues.

As I mentioned earlier in this review, Scott Sebastian’s characterization is the best part of this book. He is similar and yet different from Paige’s other alpha-heroes. There is a compassion and empathy in him that cause him to question his life, but he still maintains his alpha-hero status. What I especially loved is Paige’s focus on the ways in which Scott espouses some traits of toxic masculinity, namely in his want to protect Tessa from outside forces and his “speaking for her.” Yet, Paige has crafted a bold, intelligent, insightful heroine in Tessa, and she confronts him when he acts as some of Paige’s other heroes have acted. From a reader standpoint, you understand this to be a typical move for romance heroes, but Paige seems to be upending and placing a magnifying glass over those toxic traits in romance heroes. That discord between them is a conduit for re-thinking aspects of romance that aren’t always healthy in their depictions of masculinity and femininity.

And one final favorite facet of Paige’s Man in Love is her portrayal of female friendships. When I read Man in Charge (and I’m fairly sure I mentioned this in my review), the movie Working Girl came to mind. Figuring that I had it right, I was pleasantly surprised when Paige notes it as her inspiration in her end note. In that explanation, she points to a serious flaw in the original movie: the way in which a female power relationship undermines equality for women in the workplace, casting a female as a villain towards the heroine of that movie. In Man in Love, Paige absolutely rectifies this error. She casts a keen vision for setting a place for all women at the table of humanity, and it challenges the reader to be mindful of the ways we potentially denigrate our own $ex. That’s a powerful message, thought-provoking and important for our society today.

Laurelin Paige’s Man in Love provides the perfect ending to her Man in Charge duet. It’s a respite from our world with dissension and ugliness at every turn. Even as her characters encounter potentially unsurmountable troubles, Paige deftly guides them to an ending that challenges us, engages us, and leaves us swooning with adoration. This duet is an apt example of the ways in which romancelandia can embrace contentious societal issues and spin them into productive solutions for change. Writing should reflect humanity and challenge us to become better humans. And Paige’s Man in Charge duet is continuing that charge.

„I expect all of you. I’m worth all of you.”

Man in Love is the perfect conclusion to Tess and Scott's story. It's angsty, filled with twists and turns and sexual tension so intense that it can set your Kindle on fire! But most importantly, it beautifully shows the development of the characters and their feelings.

I love that Tess is such a kind-hearted person who fights for a good cause, and that even though she found love along with it, she wouldn't let that feeling overshadow her purpose. Not only that, she gained confidence and a sense of self-worth, and even though she risked breaking her own heart, she wouldn't settle for less than she deserves.

I loved seeing how Scott's value system changed after he met Tess. He's still the alpha, incessantly dominant, but he has gained a softer side that forces him to question his choices and desires.

Man in Love is the part that reveals the secrets, tests feelings and teaches patience. This is the time when they both have to think about what they really want and whether love is worth the sacrifices. There were many obstacles on their path, my heart was broken more than once because of their situation, but these two proved that great love will face all the challenges.

Man in Love is a book full of emotions and passion. It's captivating and addicting. As always, Laurelin Paige didn't disappoint, delivering a sexy alpha and a strong woman who brings him to his knees. Tess and Scott gave me all the feels and their turbulent love story was nothing short of amazing!

After Ms. Paige dropped an epic cliffhanger on us in Man in Charge (which you must read first) I was chomping at the bit to sink my teeth into Man in Love. I desperately needed to know what Tessa was going to do and how Scott would right his major wrong.

Really I can't say too much because I don't want to ruin it for anyone but just know these two will suck you into their lives. This story is so dynamic and titillating. You won't want to tear your eyes from the pages.

I loved the twists and turns that just made you gasp in utter delight as they unfolded.

Kudos on this fabulous duet that ticked off all the boxes for fantastic read!!

Man in Love is the conclusion to the Man in Charge duet. Scott Sebastian and Kendra Montgomery just dropped a bomb that ended in a cliff hanger in Man on Top. So now we know that everyone is a freaking liar! Some lies are small little lies that get you out of a jam, while others are bombs! This was a grenade. Terese Turani has no idea when just happened at the party, and we come to find out all the secrets, some you can predict while others are a complete surprise just like Laurelin wanted to take her readers by surprise!

I'm sure this is the beginning of a great new series with lots of sketchy characters

This second instalment didn’t deliver for me, sadly.

As I always say, I love a Laurelin Paige book, so I think this was a case of ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ here.

Scott Sebastian might be a rich playboy, but he is no Donovan Kincaid (Filthy Rich Duet). He was just too nice. Whilst in real life Scott would be perfect, I was hoping for a Donovan to keep the chemistry sizzling.

There is also a lot of (what I felt was) unneeded drama that could’ve all be avoided if the characters talked to each other every now and again.

Side note; I kind of feel like a bit of an ass for not enjoying this. Laurelin Paige gives a very moving note at the end to explain how her personal life has influenced her characters and how this duet was not planned and was something that she wanted to write as it was close to her heart.I did enjoy the duet, I just didn’t feel like this second instalment had the angst I personally needed.

Where do all those lies and secrets lead? What to do when the words sound so different from the deeds? Do those hands, that caressed every inch of her body, now belong to another woman? Will those sinful lips now bring pleasure to the other one? Is there a way out of the maze? Is there an end to the lies, half-truths and that unbearable pain?
In the first book we were delighted to see how the gentle spark between Tess and Scott turned into those powerful flames of passion and belonging. Two hearts merged into one beat. She-not even a proper assistant, he-the powerful, corporate heir, burdened by the legacy of his last name. But even the most powerful families hide great secrets, rules that must be obeyed, prices that have to be paid…. But is Scott willing to pay such a price? Can he sacrifice everything in order to satisfy someone else’s plans? Can he just give up?
After the unbearable cliffhanger, I have no words to explain how eagerly I wanted to have this final book in my hands, and Laurelin Paige definitely managed to create a nice conclusion to Tess and Scott’s story. A sexy and sweet story, set in the harsh and calculated world of the rich and powerful, where true feelings are a sign of weakness and stupidity.
After devouring the first book and that hell of a bombshell at the end, I really expected a book that will be so intense and gripping, filled with lots of angst and drama. Taking into consideration her previous books, I expected a heavy read that will shock and delight me at the same time and most definitely push me out of my comfort zone.
Well, that was not the case here. The plot, a bit predictable, is so sweet and funny at times. A light-hearted romance that will not pull you into a whirlwind of emotions, but will relax you with the comfort and sweetness. The characters are consistent with the first book at the beginning, and continue to develop and grow, showing more depth and aspects that were not visible in the first book. The sweet and caring Tess remains true to her beliefs, showing more determination and persistence. Strong and vulnerable at the same time, she definitely manages to bring this cocky man to his knees. Scott, on the other hand, transits from the powerful and arrogant man in charge to the swoon-worthy and romantic man in love, willing to do everything for the love of his life. A man willing to confront everybody, to overcome every obstacle in order to see his Tess happy and loved. And the chemistry between them continues to be totally insane and sizzling.
Man in Love will provide you with a ticket and lead you on a nice journey into that sweet and sexy world, Laurelin Paige has created. With a hot, swoon-worthy hero, a sexy, strong heroine and powerful, scheming parents it guarantees a nice and relaxing read.

Okay Wow! Laurelin you have done it again! All kinds of emotions I feel at this book! First when Kendra introduces Tess to her fiancée and it turns out it was Scott. My heart was in my throat. I couldn’t believe it. The book just gets better and better after her shock after hearing and seeing the man she is falling for and has been with is engaged to her boss. Her secret she kept from him so small compared to the one he never shared. In the Sebastian way they care more about status than how Scott feels about Kendra. So much is revealed and eye opening. Kendra doesn’t want to really get married and Scott doesn’t want to Kendra. He tries to convince Tess this engagement will not happen. Scott acts as if he is not engaged. He introduces Tess to his grandfather. His grandfather gives him advice on this situation. In the end his grandfather is the one who helps Scott to see reason and chose the life he wants not what his parents have planned. Damn this was good. Unexpected twists and turns. Love it!!

Two broken people coming together and their turbulent journey to get there - Laurelin Paige shook this story line around, turned it upside down, and molded it in to a sexy, drama-filled, meaningful tale to remember. Scott and Tess are a couple that will forever stand out in my mind. You are shown two people that come from very different backgrounds; yet, they share so much of the same that brings them together. Being able to step into their lives; and the see similar problems that they experience from different angles is so interesting. Particularly how their take on privilege is drastically different, but very alike. Man In Love wraps up their story in a way that is so fitting.

I loved Teyana and the bond her and Tess shared. The uncertainty brought on by Kendra - did I like or loath her? All of the secondary characters are notable, which is par for the course. Laurelin leaves no stone of intrigue unturned. What a wonderful duet - TRULY! These characters and this couple are so remarkable! You never want to miss a story that Mrs. Paige lays down, so don’t. You will love Tess and Scott’s story!!!

Laurelin Paige absolutely nailed this conclusion. She nailed this series, period; so much so that by the time I reached the very last word of this novel, I just knew that this duet was a new favourite read for me - both a top favourite read of 2020, and a favourite read of Laurelin's altogether.

And honestly, I'm not surprised that I loved these books as much as I did, because whilst I absolutely adore this author's heavier romances' that push me out of my comfort zone, always keeps my heart racing to the point where I feel like my anxiety is going through the roof just thinking about where the story could go to next, and are ones that blow my mind at every unexpected twist and turn, it's actually her sweeter and more light-hearted and less angsty romances that I love to read more than anything else - ones that're all about the laughs, the love, the sex, and the overcoming of the easy yet still challenging obstacles that stand in our characters' way of a happy ending; ones like this duet.

Well, ones like this conclusion more than anything else.

Whereas Man in Charge was an intense read because you just knew a bomb was going to be dropped by the end of the story, Man in Love was the total opposite. It was still an intense read, because oh boy do Scott Sebastian and Tess Turani have a lot of challenging obstacles standing in their way of a happy ever after, especially now that both their secrets - of Tess's deceit about her job position, and of Scott's you know what - have come to light. And in the worst way possible, too. But overall, Man in Love was, hands down, the sweetest and most fun-loving and funny and deep and sexy and erotic and adorable, and just the most hilarious of reads that Laurelin has delivered in quite some time. Definitely different to Man in Charge, and I absolutely loved that it was.

And I think what I loved most about it was that we really got to see a different side to Scott in this book, which is mainly thanks to the fact that we get his perspective equally alongside Tess's. But it's also more than that. Even through Tess's eyes, Scott was just more... relaxed in this story. Carefree, even. Less like the man in charge that we saw in the first book, and more like a man in love, and I'm not just saying that because I wanted to blend the title in with this review somewhere - I mean it.

He could be tense at times because there is a certain someone in this book who'll do anything to see his relationship with Tess go down in flames, but overall, it was clear from the start that we were finally starting to really get to know the real him throughout this story; the him I don't think even he knew he could be, and someone who really started to fight for what was most important to him, and in my eyes, that was his happiness - his happiness within his career, and his happiness with his Tess.

Sunlight had a way of making the world forget there could ever be a storm. Tess was sunlight right then. A bright light piercing through an otherwise dark day.

It's funny looking back, because I was convinced that this duet would be a lot like Laurelin's Dirty Filthy Rich Duet, and I truly thought that it was going to be too heavy of a read for me at a time in my life where I just wanted to read a romance that was all romance. But oh how wrong was I. And I'm honestly so happy that I was wrong, because then I got exactly the romance I've been craving to read; a romance I can easily see myself rereading for fun again and again and again in the future.

And how could I - why would I - not?

Overall, the plot may've been a tad predictable, but it's still gripping and shocking and entertaining enough to have me gasping in surprise at many of the bombshells that're dropped throughout that I actually saw coming from a mile off. The humour to this story was absolutely hilarious, and the banter that flowed between Scott and Tess had me throwing my head back in laughter it was that funny to me. And the characters... Oh my God, the characters were all unique enough that I'm now left craving to know each and every one of their stories, especially some of the Sebastian men.

Brett. Cole. Zach. They're only three of many Sebastian's, and they each play the tiniest of roles in this novel. But they each also left the biggest of impacts on me to now have me truly craving to know each of their own stories. (Oh, and Laurelin, if you wanted to give Irving Sebastian a cameo in each of their novels and novellas... I would not be complaining one bit, because he. Was. H I L A R I O U S, and I am DYING to see more of him in the future stories that revolve around the Sebastian clan.)

But anywho. Back to talking about the story. There was a moment towards the end of this book where I did feel like there was too much left unsaid, and it left me questioning whether or not this novel would come to a smooth conclusion. But I really should never doubt Laurelin, because by the very last page she had all my questions answered, all my theories either proved right or wrong - and trust me when I say that when some of my theories were confirmed, I screamed in absolute delight - and I was just left overall satisfied with how Scott and Tess's romance played out in the long run.

If you've set high expectations for Man in Love, then I truly don't think you will be let down by all that Laurelin delivers here. This conclusion was absolutely brilliant, and I would highly recommend it.

"Why don't I show you?"
"Show me what?"
"Show you how well I'd treat a girl I loved."
