I picked up the second volume to Rose Hip Zero quite by accident. There was an enormous sale and I grabbed it because I had heard the name before. Surprisingly, I liked it. So Rose Hip Zero is actually a prequel series to the original series Rose Hip Rose. Luckily, wikipedia is always available to help and the prequel series itself isn't too hard to jump into. Even if you start out with the second volume. The series revolves around the very mysterious and kick-ass Kasumi, who works for the Tokyo? anti-terrorist force along with a few other badass boys. Their main antagonist is a group called ALICE, who's main mission, as we find out, is to activate the monster inside Kasumi. This is main plotline surrounding the prequel series, and I'm assuming comes back later in the original series. While the characterization, dialogue and overall story is just okay/good for the most part, the action art is beautifully detailed and drawn. An interesting, if short (prequel 5v. original 4v) series that I'll probably consider getting the rest of. 4/5
totally lost interest in what was going on during this volume. the best part was when that lady (can't even remember any of the names) showed up at the hospital with a gigantic chocolate gun. that got my attention. but the rest- shooting, falling down, car crashes- yawn.
Stereotypical teens with guns story. Not bad, but nothing original either. If you liked Fujisawa's drawing style in GTO, it's pretty much the same here.
