After a failed pregnancy and an addition 6 months of TTC with no success, I surfed the net for more information. While searching I came across the interesting concept of Spirit babies and just had to know more. This book was the highest ranking of it's type and I agree it did deliver on answering all my questions. What I found most intriguing was the stories from couples and the multiple reasons why spirit babies might not be ready to join their parents. While I did not do the exercises, I did every night take a deep breath and tell my baby we loved them and were ready for them no matter what. The month after I finished the book we were pregnant :) Coincidence? Who knows, but only 6 months left to go before we get to meet our baby, spirit and body.
I have read this book after I had a stillborn baby born at 36 weeks gestation. I started looking for a way to find out what happens to babies who die in the womb, or during birth. I came across this book, that I found really fascinating. The book is a story of a medium and his work. The first pages give you understanding on how the author opened his talent. Then he tells stories of couples and mothers, who came for a reading due to different reasons. Some could not get pregnant, some had fear of birth, some wanted to communicate with a baby in the womb, some had miscarriages. Whatever reason that was, they all had explanation from a spirit baby realm. The author talks a lot about chakra system in the human and how it influences a lot of processes both in the physical and spiritual worlds. He also gives meditations and chants in order for seeking couples to get connected to their spirit baby, and possibly ask questions, or comfort the baby. When a child dies in the womb, or during birth, he does not go to the land of the dead, but rather go back in line to be born again. He is staying with the mother until conception happens. The author talks a lot about karma. He is saying that a child chooses parents based on the karma, the learning life experience that this parents are able to offer. This karma is what he is coming back to Earth for. Spirit of babies are different like all of us. Some are sad, some are happy, some are slow and some are fast. If miscarriage happens, it might be caused by different reasons. Spirit baby might not be ready to incarnate yet and might want more time to prepare. Spirit babies can incarnate as males or females, but some are more used to one gender than the other, and are afraid to be born. So they need more time. Some get scared because they are afraid that the mother would not welcome them. Some just don't want to be born in a sick body, so when something is developing wrong with the body, they withdraw. Some spirit babies have painful memories of past lives that keep them afraid to incarnate again. If a spirit baby is not present in mothers aura, then conception does not happen. Author tells that there are some people who are born with the karma of having no children. But if they want to have a child, they can call for a spirit baby. Author offers meditation and chant to do it in the book. Sometimes conception does not happen due to miscellaneous blocks in mothers chakra system, due to work environment or unresolved psychological issues, some of which can come from past life. Stores of couples and mothers differ from to another revealing each spirit baby as individual with his needs and treats of character. This book inspired me to contact a medium so I could ask questions to my spirit baby. I got my answers. This book inspires and leaves you with a very happy feeling. I highly recommend reading it.
At 21 weeks I lost my twin sons due to prematurity that resulted from a subchorionic hematoma that I suffered from most of the pregnancy. This was my first intimate brush with death and loss and grief. I had been thinking that as Christmas 2012 approached I would be bringing my twins home from the hospital, instead that fall, my husband and I purchased burial plots and picked out a coffin. I was so starkly shocked by the turn of events that I felt everything with such gut wrenching purity that I had no idea where to start processing how I felt anything. A few weeks after the funeral, life carried on as if the summer of 2012 hadn’t happened at all. My husband returned to work, my life picked up where it had left off prior to the pregnancy and conversation of my twins’ fate seemed to cease amongst family and friends, it turned into a taboo subject that I was left to reconcile with on my own. The offered words of, “Everything happens for a reason” and “Time will heal all wounds,” were nothing of comfort to me. Just phrases to fill an awkward silence with dear ones that felt sympathy, but couldn’t relate and didn’t know the right words of comfort - if there were any.
I don’t know how I came across Makichen’s book or why I even gave it a go. It sounded kooky and bordered on bizarre, but he wrote with such conviction it was a comfort. Besides leaving me grief ridden, my twins' death had also shaken my comfort in the universe and my place with in it. It brought the reality home of how fleeting life could be and that nothing is for granted. Spirit Babies didn’t unshake this new realization, but it made it okay. It never gave a reason on why I had to bury my twins and it didn’t even really offer hope that this wrong would be righted, but it gave me solace. My faith in God was never shaken, but it reminded me that I had it.
This book will not be for everyone and it is not meant for everyone. One would hope that most will not ever face a need for this book. But if you find yourself having trouble conceiving or just seeking a connection with your spirit baby or in the unfortunate state of burying your infants, Makichen relays his encounters with spirit babies with a compelling admission of truth that connected me back to the universe and my journey in it. It allowed me to find the hope in myself that the wrong of the summer of 2012 will be righted and that my spirit baby will grace me again. I hope his words do the same for you.
This book could surprise the readers who are not familiar with what happens when we return to our spiritual world after our physical death. But if you have read a few books about it, and they all say the same things (thousands of patients regressed in their past lives, after their death, count the same extraordinary experiences), then this book will make sense and will help all mothers to be to understand and be aware that they have been chosen long before they knew they were even going to get pregnant.
This book was referred to me from a friend. I read the book cover to cover in less than three days! I was hooked from the beginning about Walter's experience as a boy in church (seeing angels) and on how Walter discovered his gift. It held my attention and I just couldn't put it down. I would love to find other books like this one.
Powerful. Easy read. Full of tips on how to connect with the baby you're meant to have.
I think this book is a very helpful tool for all those women out there, struggling with getting pregnant, deciding whether or not to have a baby, or those who have had a miscarriage. We all seek answers in life and this book did reassure me.
Re-read 2024: maybe I needed a little reassurance, maybe I needed a hit of spirituality on the matter. I love that the book also speaks on miscarriages & abortions. But you need to be open on the matter for this book to speak to you. I don't think my partner has the same approach when he sees me reading this book... but oh well...
This books brings up so much emotion for me. It came into my life while I was wanting a child and struggling along that journey. I had a consultation with Walter Makichen and carried his teachings to heart. I still pay him homage several times a week in my meditations. He is an astounding spirit guide although no longer on earth, he is a guide and guru in the astral world. Any want-to-be parents (or parents wanting to understand their children) should read this. Thank you always, Walter.
I read this as my first intro to mediums and psychics. I'm still not sure how comfortable I am with the whole idea of invoking spirits, but the author of this book seems truely legitimate, compassionate and called, which helped me to read it with an open mind. The stories are interesting and the intro to our own psychic abilities was fascinating to me.
This book gave me so many things, but most of all peace, during this time in my life. This is a great book to read preconception, pregnancy and if you’re just plain curious. I couldn’t put this book down. From beginning to end, you will be connected and will learn so much! I’m so glad I read this book! Highly recommended
Mixed feelings on this. I’d love to know that my baby had a reason for leaving us mid-pregnancy, but I also didn’t see myself or my experience reflected in this book - and of course, there’s nothing but the author’s word to lean on evidentially here. I’m glad it’s brought others comfort, though.
This book was so helpful in gaining a better perspective about how we are all linked through karma. It explained in straight-forward segments the intricacies of the soul's many incarnations. It also soothed in helping to understand what is spiritually behind things like "unwanted" pregnancies, abortions, miscarriages, infertility, adoption, etc. It even talks about angels' roles in some cases! A must read for anyone who's ever thought about having a child. But even if you don't have or don't want children, this book helps to explain the mysteries of karmic ties.
When read with an open mind, this book has the ability to speak to anyone’s heart. Whether you are already a parent, are trying to get pregnant, have experienced miscarriage, infertility or pregnancy loss, the info presented can help you see things from a new perspective.
I loved how the client examples reiterate his points and the exercises are also helpful and applicable. Definitely check this book out if you’re interested in learning more about conscious conception!
This book is a gift. Whether you're trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, have lost a baby, had a miscarriage, trying to adopt or just further spiritually connect with your newborn - this book helps, a lot. It has made it's way around my circle of friends and has helped each of us individually in different ways. I strongly recommend it.
This book came to me at a time when I was beginning to gain deeper understanding about the spiritual implications of the conception and birth process. It has provided deep comfort through a time of profound grief and affirmation to trust a mother's intuition....and the voices of spirit babies.
Potentially still a skeptic on it all, but loved how this book reframes pregnancy loss and for those yearning to be parents. It helped me to connect with my body and welcome in another pregnancy. Would recommend for those who have experienced loss or infertility.
This book is a beautiful guide for anyone who wants to become a parent and/or desires to better understand how bringing a child into the world works on a spiritual level. Many aspects of this book were very soothing - knowing what happens to a spirit baby after abortion or a miscarriage for example, especially when these can be traumatic events, can bring a lot of peace to prospective mothers and parents. I enjoyed reading the spiritual take on parenthood, and how parents are chosen as spiritual teachers to their child. Recommended if you desire babies, and/or you work with parents and couples.
This book found its way on my path, and it was an extremely comforting read. As long as you have an open-mind, I think this book can be a comfort to anyone who is considering having children, anyone who has dealt with loss of a child or pregnancy, people having difficulty conceiving, etc. I do think this book could have had a little more mention about people who have a true medical cause of infertility, rather than assuming any difficulties conceiving are all a result of energy blockages, past life trauma, etc. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and its suggestions, and am moving forward with some new ideas and thinking about the spirit world.
Why didn't I think of this before?? Communicator of many beings and I didn't think about reaching out to my spirit babies. Being in that phase of life where it is not easy to become pregnant, this gave me hope and now I feel confident about it again. I lost my touch a little, my hope, my fears getting the upper hand and than this book showed up. I don't know who the thank for it, my spirit baby or my mum or maybe someone else looking out there for me and sending me a little love message.
I was recommended this book, it’s very far from what I would normally read. Judge this book by the cover, it’s a fair teaser of what will be inside. I have a lot of skepticism about psychics/clairvoyants, so this book was going to be a hard sell for me.
PROS: this is an interesting thought experiment, considering that there are spirits of babies waiting to be born and that they will communicate if you reach out to them. Maybe you think that’s silly, but at least no other thoughts leaders have really explored the idea. So, this will activate your imagination. Also, this is a fast and easy read.
CONS: there’s NO documentation. Either you believe the author or he is simply writing fiction. The most “documented” concept he refers to are chakras, which, of course, are not provable (but do have a lot of other thought leaders exploring). However, chakras are the only spiritual tradition he references other than what he seems to have just made up.
If you believe his philosophies, you’ll probably find this book to be encouraging. If you’re skeptical, at best, this is just an interesting thought experiment.
I really love this book and think it would be a wonderful gift for any couple planning on conceiving or who are pregnant! It does talk about past lives and karma and the spirit world, so it's not for everyone. But just read the back cover to know if it's right for you. I did and knew it was my kind of book! I wish I'd had it when I was pregnant with my first; I think it's a useful tool for helping parents-to-be bond with their babies in utero and even before that.
Okay, I love it even more now that I've finished reading it! I love the birth shaman, what lovely imagery for labor prep!
Makichen writes in an easy to understand manner for those whose beliefs align with concepts of oneness, karma and telepathic communication, as well as those new to these ideas. The book is geared toward new life, but I think it will be helpful for adults seeking to grow through issues from their childhood related to adoption, or previous incidents with miscarriages, abortion or pregnancy complications. It may be helpful to have someone to help you process these ideas as you read the text, or to have an outlet for expression. The exercises are helpful for the mother and all stakeholders in the spirit baby's life. Five stars!
This book is excellent. I picked it up at a local spiritual bookstore and it was better than I expected. When I had my daughter I felt a lot of psychic energy and I also felt her spirit before, it was as if I met her before. Now we have been trying for a second child for about 8 months with no luck, so this book gave me think about the different ways spiritually and mentally that I can welcome the next child into our life. The book also talks about past life connections and I would recommend it to couples who are TTC.
Really enjoyed reading this book after coming across it in Amazon reviews for something else. Easy to read and understand. Gives you another perspective. Very practical, packed with meditations that I am yet to try. Heard a lot of good things about it so I bought it and read it straight away. Just need to implement what I've learnt now. Definitely recommended.
This book is a must read for everyone on a spiritual journey even those who don't wish to have children. It helps you understand your own soul contracts and connect with yourself on a deep level before connecting to your spirit babies. The meditations in this book are powerful and assisted me greatly.
