Struggling cook Jenny works hard hiding her painful past behind fresh-baked muffins. Until a handsome stranger offers her a way out of her a job on his yacht.
Jenny is drawn in by Ramón, and together they sail into the sunset. It could almost be perfect…. Until Ramón reveals he's not a humble yachtsman but a secret prince—next in line for the throne.
What future could a simple small-town Cinderella have with a crown prince?
I'm a writer. I'm boring. Day after day I sit behind a word processor making up people in my head. Why do I do it? I love it. My husband, Dave, gets up in the morning, puts on a suit and heads out into the ice and cold of Ballarat's winter. (Sadly I live in one of the tiny parts of Australia that qualifies as cold.) I make myself another cup of coffee, head up to my study, choose what music I want and sit and daydream. And I get paid for doing it. Hooray!
My first attempt at writing romance, 'Dare To Love Again', a Medical Romance, was published by Harlequin Mills and Boon in 1990. It still stands today as a monument to my family's ability to survive on cheese sandwiches and spaghetti.
Since then I've written over 80 Romances for Harlequin Mills and Boon, with more on the drawing board. (I used a pseudonym - Trisha David - for the first few Romances but suffered with a split personality and have since reverted to being Marion Lennox all the time.) In between romances, I've co-authored a non-fiction history, (I love local history) done the odd (very odd) spot of housework and done a heap of travelling - research :-)
I come from a farming community. You can probably tell this from my books. There's not a skyscraper in sight. I'm very much a pets person. Chloe and Harry were my constant canine companions for many years as I wrote, demanding walks and air freshener at frequent intervals. Sadly I lost them, and for a while I vowed not to get another. My heart was broken and my study smelled so clean! But.. The cat and I missed them so badly we weakened and bought Mitzi. Mitzi's a black and silver mini-schnauzer who makes me and the cat laugh. Expect to find her in future stories.
If you're interested in formalities, I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a teaching diploma. I have a couple of kids and a huge extended family who look on me with affectionate tolerance. Marion? The crazy one who talks to people in her head... I've had nine nominations for the Rita, winning twice, and fourteen for the Australian Book of the Year. After years of thinking of my writing as a hobby I guess I finally now qualify as a `real' writer.
Thank your for taking the trouble to check out my web page. Now try my books. We might even end up having fun together. And write to me. I show my family - `See? Real people do like the things that go in in my head.'
Initially I thought the deception would run through most of the book, then when the truth about Ramon's identity was revealed, Jenny would be angry but they'd kiss and make up, get married and a HEA. So I assumed just from the book blurb.
Gianetta Bertin, aka Jenny, was slaving away in a bakery when Ramon stopped by for a muffin. As a joke her best buddy shouted to all and sundry Jenny was ready to be swept away for an adventure!
Enchanted by her muffins, Ramon did just that, regretting it every moment yet excited. Jenny of course thought he was crazy, but after her boss/slave driver found out she knew he'd be impossible to work for.
She decided to live a bit and took on Ramon's job offer, but he was not upfront with her about many things. Like he hired her for a year to be crew on his yacht but he only meant to sail 3 more months before spending the next 6 building houses in Bangladesh. And the biggest lie was he did not own the ship...oh and that he was born a prince, but now became crown prince unexpectedly.
All this happened maybe in the first quarter or third of the book only!
The rest showed how Ramon struggled internally. He knew duty came first so he was all ready to sacrifice his wants for the sake of his loved ones, who are his aunt, Jenny and even Philippe his boy cousin. To him the palace was hell because of his brutal family history...he had no choice but to stay, but in his mind he'd never subject his loved ones to the danger and hell of the palace.
The small boy in him could not forget the trauma that had happened when he first and last stayed in the palace.
Thanks to Jenny, she was able to open his eyes to the truth and possibilities. It was rather charming and heartwarming especially seeing the staff all rally behind Ramon and Jenny!
The title is stupid and exactly why I picked it up! Lol. I’ve always wanted to read a Harlequin romance so when I saw the Cinderella in the title on a shelf at the VA I just couldn’t stop myself. The writing was good. I liked that it was romance and not the smut that seems to be the romance of contemporary books these days. The story is silly and complete fantasy and that’s why I liked it. I will definitely be reading more of these when I see fun titles that peek my interest.
Gianetta Bertin has been Jenny for a life time. Working with her papa on a boat after the death of her mother, Jenny loved the sea. Cooking was the only thing she enjoyed more. After the death of her father, she had turned to a man for comfort against the loneliness, and was left with a son.
When Matty needed surgery for a congenital heart defect, she accepted money from a man who used her cooking abilites to his own advantage. Despite the death of her son, she continued to work to pay off her debts. When approached with the opportunity to travel the seas again, she took the risk. The greater risk lay in falling for Ramon.
Ramon was a prince and with the death of his uncle, he became the Crown Prince of Cepheus. His cousin threatened his life and family, and with the young orphaned illegitamate nephew Phillipe to contend with, Ramon could not follow his heart and commit to Gianetta, his Jenny.
Very sweet and romantic. Wonderful to see how Jenny is able to get past her tragedies and open her heart to love another child.
Famous story and romance. The Prince was a dream and Cinderella had spunk...finally. At first, Cinderella was a bit spineless and lost in grief. She came out of it about halfway at through the book. Enter a 5 year old illegitimate prince, and he family is complete with what HEA.
I really enjoyed this book. I could have done without the odd prologue though. It definetly shows Royalty as being just like you and me. The heroine was very believable. The Hero wasn't over the top. And it had a cute little boy added as well.
