The woman who wrote this book also founded an online support group that's pretty stellar. It was awesome to read someone elses experience with this creepy blood disorder. This woman is insanely "balls to the wall" in her dealings with having this disorder. Apparently doctors used to treat this illness way more more aggressively than they do now and this woman really threw herself into a lot of different treatment approaches. I think halfway through reading the book I realized she was trying to get over the disorder before her short term disability expired which gave her only 6 months to get better. She went through sooo much in that short period of time. She must be an incredibly strong and determined person. I really appreciate the book and the support group. If you're going to have some kind of obscure disorder this is definitely the kind of person you want trailblazing through it before you. I appreciate the book but it's kind of a harrowing tale of awful medical experiences and unfortunately for me blood talk makes me feel all squeamish. I would have liked it if there had been some more emphasis on her personal transformation from aggressively attacking the disease to incorporating aggressively compassionate self care. She dove into a lot of alternative medicine treatments as well but didn't elaborate on that experience as much. Maybe there's room for a squeal.

This book is fascinating for anyone who has ever had any experience with ITP. My husband has this condition, and it can be very scary and frustrating. This book helped us a great deal.

This was an easy read. For someone who has ITP for over 39+ years, this was a breath of fresh air. To hear someone beat this disease is wonderful. I plan on looking into some of these practices to help raise my platelets.
