Cabbage is a plain girl, helping her brothers keep their inn and painting in her spare time. One day a magician stays overnight and leaves her a magic paintbrush. Anything she paints with it comes to life. After escaping her greedy brothers, she makes her own way and finally ends up at the palace. Will she have to change herself for the prince to like her, or does he like her just how she is?

Being a fan of fairy tales, I loved this book!

An excellent story about being yourself. A favorite of my grandkids. The little sister has a talent, what she paints becomes real. When she has had enough of her brothers requesting greater and grander things, she heads off on her own hiding her paintbrushes. Until she thinks, to be special, she needs to bring them out again.... but she is enough already.
