Tsuna, a timid junior high student, is a failure at school, sports, and social life. But everything changes for Tsuna when Reborn, a fedora-wearing, gun-toting toddler who claims to be an Italian hit man, shows up at his house. Reborn was sent to Japan to groom Tsuna for his future life as a big mafia boss! Reborn's gun has quite an unusual effect: When Reborn shoots people in the head, they die but are then "reborn" with temporary supernatural powers that allow them to fulfill their dying wish. Reborn and Tsuna make an unlikely pair, but every day they're together, Tsuna gets reborn into a new (and better) guy!
Akira Amano is the author and mangaka of the shonen manga Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Amano began in 1998 with a job at Weekly Young Magazine. She also held a job at Shueisha Publishing Co, Ltd. In 2002, Amano participated in a contest for aspiring mangaka and was one of the lucky winners, with her comic Monkey Business published in Young Magazine. In 2004, she finally found success with the humourous and classy manga Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (or, for short, just Reborn!), and that thanks to her readers' support. This new manga was advertised more and more in Shonen Jump and became a hit. Two years later, her manga was made into an anime series by Artland studios.
Her ideas for Reborn!: Amano had some crazy ideas to entertain readers with. She came up with weird characters to add spice to the humour, a story written especially to be unique, and fast-paced action.
Other works: Boy Spin (1998) Hot Blast Baseball Legendary (1999) Pu Chipu Chirabii (2000) Monkey Business (2002) Tapir Hearts HAWK! (2003) Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (2004) Psycho-Pass (2012)(Original Character Design)
I don’t know what it was, but a lot of characters just came off as annoying to me in this volume, and not the charming kind of annoying either. Maybe it’s how Tsuna gets picked on for literally everything and no one cares😭idk. Still a few good chapters besides that though. On to my final volume that I have😙
It was okay, but the general storyline did not appeal to me much. I was tempted to give it three stars because it had a bit of humor in there, but it just wasn't enough to bump it up to three stars.
Reborn!, Vol. 3 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (17–25) of the on-going manga series.
An athletic festival starts in Namimori Middle School and Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada is forced by Reborn to enter. However, after several competitions, Tsuna's team loses and all the students end up fighting. Reborn also tests Tsuna by making him think he killed a thief, but the would-be victim turns out to be working for the Vongola.
Later, Reborn starts a Mafia competition for his own birthday, which lands Tsuna, whose birthday was on the same day, in the hospital. One day, another infant assassin named I-Pin appears in order to kill Tsuna, only to discover that she mistook him for someone else, so she ends up living with Tsuna as well. When I-Pin later befriends Haru Miura and Kyōko Sasagawa, she unknowingly gives them poisoned dumplings. However, they survive when Reborn shoots them with Dying Will Bullets.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Akira Amano. It continues the daily life of Tsunayoshi Sawada and the antics caused by his infant home tutor, Reborn, who is training him to become the Tenth Generation Boss of the Vongola Famiglia. It has the obligatory school athletic competition and the introduction to a third baby assassin in I-Pin, who is five-years old from Hong Kong.
All in all, Reborn!, Vol. 3 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
Between a school festival that ends with a massive fight amongst the students, to a rambunctious birthday competition and the arrival of another assassin, Tsuna may have to start living every day like his last with Reborn ramping up the danger! Amano keeps the humour rolling with more fun and mayhem with every chapter. Is Tsuna going to survive the semester, or is his time as a mafia head going to be cut short?
going to write shorter reviews from now on with comedy manga series until the plot picks up. then i will do proper reviews.
this volume was more lighthearted fun. we had a few new characters introduced and some entertaining interactions between older ones. more was explained about the effects of the desperation bullet and the fact that it can have very interesting reactions on different people. my only issue with this volume is that there was no plot progress and this volume was mostly random hijinx

Done with volume 3. I wonder why they omitted the Pole Knocking story in the anime? That would've been awesome. The introduction to Moretti is a lot better in the anime (hiding the 'dead' body was really hilarious) but it's understandable since the manga chapter can't be too long and it wouldn't be worth splitting that story into two chapters anyway. The Childcare and Vongola party episodes are expanded in the anime (featuring more 'participant' and a lot more crazy moments) and appear much later in the anime (thus, the inclusion of more characters). The eat and run story was exactly the same in both media as well as I-pin's introduction stories (I-pin and I-pin VS "Broccoli Monster" Lambo).
One more thing they omitted in the anime is the Kyoko VS Haru story. Maybe it was to avoid having both girls in their lingerie walking around but I like how Tsuna was not able to make a decision on who to give the single antidote to. The 'extra' episode on Hayato and Bianchi was also omitted from the anime and it's a rather so-so addition to their character development.
I also would like to note that instead of Lambo and I-pin going inside the 10 year Bazooka as depicted in the anime, an actual projectile was shot with the bazooka pointed right in front of their faces. The modification in the anime worked well in terms of reducing the violent nature of that 'technique' as well as making it look funnier.
Masih belum kelihatan jalan ceritanya kayak gimana sih.
I WANT MOOOOREEEEEEEEE.
This was a lovely nostalgic trip. I adored the anime when I was young and this manga is jut as amazing as ever. I never owned the volumes and I am glad the ay I have three, though I will not be buying more. They only published 16 or 17 out of 42 (something like that I believe) and as a collector I don’t want to buy all of those and still have an unfinished series. I am content with my three volumes. Either way, I suggest that people should give this series a try via the anime or all the manga volumes released then switch to scans of it. This is a truly great series.
Another not stellar but entertaining and decently written volume. Poor Tsuna - his family and friends (and hormones) get him in quite a lot of trouble. I do already start to feel the weight of the running jokes, but its not too bad at this point. We get a little more about several characters, which is nice, but again the strong part of this volume is the interaction between them.
Maybe this also wasn't the best vol, but it's really important to know eavh character before the real drama start, because will get you deeply the evolution of each character i feel bad for Tsuna in the Birthday chapter and was hilarious the pole competition. I'm looking for thr next one because it's introduced my fave character in the anime.
I-pin is so adorable. I do adore most of the characters. Things are progressing slowly. Not a lot is going on right now because the characters are still being introduced. Pretty soon we should be moving into some of the mafia battles. At least I hope it is relatively soon.
This vol was just ok. The story continues to be pretty random and weird, but it at least continues to be funny. I'm really hoping that the plot line picks up soon.
