Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth. I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day. To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was ‘a dinky little thing’ weighing in at four and a half pounds. However, I answer to Fern since people are more comfortable with a name they can pronounce.
As they say, the past is prologue. I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids. When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job. Those were his exact words. I didn’t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother. I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like. The library was a magical place for me. It still is to this day. Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book. For some reason that didn’t intimidate me. As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does. Guess what, I don’t have that husband any more. Guess what else! I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.
Moving right along here . . . Several years ago I left Ballantine Books, parted company with my agent, sold my house in New Jersey that I had lived in all my married life and in 1993 moved to South Carolina. I figured if I was going to go through trauma let it be all at one time. It was a breeze. The kids were all on their own at that point. The dump was a 300 year old plantation house that is listed in the National Registry that I remodeled. Today it is beyond belief as are the gardens and the equally old Angel Oaks that drip Spanish moss. Unfortunately, I could not get my ghost to relocate. This ghost has been documented by previous owners. Mary Margaret as we call her, is “a friendly”. She is also mischievous. It took me two weeks to figure out that she didn’t like my coffee cups. They would slide off the table or counter or else they’d break in the dishwasher. I bought red checkered ones. All are intact as of this writing. She moves pillows from one room to the other and she stops all the clocks in the house at 9:10 in the a.m. at least once a week. When the Azaleas are in bloom, and only then, I find blooms on my night stand. I have this glorious front porch and during the warm months I see my swing moving early in the morning when the air is still and again late in the day. She doesn’t spook the dogs. I always know when she’s around because the five of them line up and look like they’re at a tennis match. As of this writing we’re co-habiting nicely.
Most writers love what they do and I’m no exception. I love it when I get a germ of an idea and get it down on paper. I love breathing life into my characters. I love writing about women who persevere and prevail because that’s what I had to do to get to this point in time. It’s another way of saying it doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what matters is where you’re going and how you get there. The day I finally prevailed was the day I was inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame. For me it was an awesome day and there are no words to describe it.
I’ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years. I hope I can continue for another 37 years. It wasn’t easy during some of those years. As I said, I had to persevere. My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot. She said when God is good to you, you have to give back. For a while I didn’t know how to do that. When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels® Foundation.

Way out of my normal reading range, I read this to help me choose books for housebound readers who've said they like Fern Michaels. I also hoped it would help me to understand what makes a New York Times #1 bestselling author.
I've seen her books referred to as warm-hearted, the author as much loved. Nobody has mentioned first class writing.
The formula for this series seems to be the girls (the Sisterhood) and their men gang up against the nasties (men), all the characters happily or unhappily in love. The girls win out. Some reviewers talk about humor, but I found it pretty leaden.
The action shifts rapidly from scene to scene. By book #14 in this series, it's assumed you know all the characters and their back stories, which I didnt, but have checked up a little since thanks to gr and other reading sites.
There's no attempt to make the characters believable, much of the action is slightly mad fantasy stuff.
The writing is prosaic, dialogue like cartoon captions and there are holes all over the plot.
Given her output I suspect a team of ghost writers, a bit like a writers version of an animation studio.
I will read another book from another of her series. Couldn't bear a repeat in this one.
I can't give it any stars.

OK, I get the whole idea of the Sisterhood of Pseudo-Feminist revenge. That's cool. It's just that this book was pretty convoluted. I understood that they were going to get revenge on these philandering politicians, but did they have to spend the entire book talking about the fact that they were going to get revenge on these philandering politicians? By the time they did get their revenge, the book was over. And I wasn't quite sure what they did exactly. I guess I just didn't get it.

This book was slow and kind of sucked. The whole point of these books is revenge and I didn't even understand what happened at the end. Disappointed.

I love Fern Michaels and this series! I feel like I am sitting n the kitchen with these women. There are a lot of characters but you feel like you know every single one. I think it takes an extraordinary writer to draw you in and make you feel like these characters are your friends/enemies. I just had a really good time reading this book during the hectic holiday season and would recommend this author and this series to my friends.

Entertaining Series by Fern Michaels. Although the situations the Sisterhood find themselves in are unrealistic, the book is more than enjoyable for pure entertainment. Definitely worth the read.

When Lizzie Fox's husband, Cosmo Cricket, is approached after-hours by a mysterious but famous Madam of a legal bordello in Nevada, he takes her on as a client even with minimal information or assurance she will ever be seen again. Someone outed her and her girls about a summer camp-style weekend they hosted not once but twice for several well-known politicians in D.C., where such weekend events are illegal. Now, the Madam and her girls fear for their lives. If the names of their clients get out, all hell will break loose in D.C. The politicians and the newly elected first female president of the United States want to pin everything on the Madam and hang her out to dry without repercussions to the men who enjoyed the weekends. That doesn't sit well with Lizzie or the Sisters, and not only are these men now in the sights of the sisters, but the President is as well. She hasn't given the promised pardon to the vigilantes, and now she wants them to betray a woman for the sake of a bunch of men and their uncontrolled libidos. The women decide that if anyone gets their help, it will be the Madam. Still on their own, that is to say without the guidance of Charles, the women plan a careful and targeted mission that aims for the highest office in the land - it's time to clean House, and the Sisterhood is the one best suited for the job.
It's been a while since I enjoyed two books from this series back-to-back. Let me clarify. While I enjoyed the storyline of this book, the relationship parts are just as annoying as ever. The relationships are nauseating because they are unrealistic, and that's not just me being cynical. However, I don't see Michaels easing up on these particular aspects of her series, so I will quit complaining about them as I've made my feelings about them very clear!

In Las Vegas, Cosmo Crickett received a lady one morning. She was Lily Flowers, a madam in Pahrump, Nevada. She wanted to leave her books and her story with Cosmo as she had closed her Happy Camp for Boys and Girls , had sent her girls away, and was running away herself. She knew she had no chance against the politicians in Washington, DC. Hearing her out, Cosmo learned some of her "johns' were so pleased with Happy Camp that they asked her to branch out for special occasions. They did everything to transport the camp to Washington DC. They set up the camp to coincide with the inauguration of the new President. Now the law was going to come after her and her girls for illegal prostitution. However, she knew she couldn't win so she was disappearing as her girls did. She wanted him to do what he thought best with the evidence she had given him. Then she left.
Cosmo told Lillie Fox when she arrived about the visit. While she was there, they learned of the accident that killed Lily Flowers. Since he learned he also was her executor, he had her cremated and spread her ashes in the desert as he thought she would have liked.
Whe the Sisterhood heard the story, they were livid. Once again the men who were the perpetrators of bringing the Happy Camp to DC were going to get away with everything while the girls and Lily were to pay. Not on their watch!

Razor Shaarp is the fourteenth book in the Sisterhood Series by Fern Michaels. This series has been languishing on my TBR for so long now, and as part of my reading challenge this year was to reduce my TBR pile, this series jumped out at me. This proved to be is a deliciously addictive, binge-worthy blend of revenge, friendship, and female empowerment that spans nearly 40 books – but somehow never loses its spark.
At its core, is a tight-knit group of women who’ve been wronged by a system that failed them, who then decide to take justice into their own hands. But this isn’t just about getting payback - it’s about loyalty, resilience, and the unshakable bond of sisterhood.
Ms. Michaels masterfully balances high-stakes action with moments of warmth and humor. Each book delivers a fresh, inventive mission - from elaborate sting operations to clever courtroom twists - all while weaving in the personal growth and evolving relationship/s of the characters.
If you love stories where wrongs are righted, villains get exactly what they deserve, and friendship is the ultimate superpower, then the Sisterhood series will keep you hooked, just like it did me.

Each of Fern Michaels' books is like all her other books with only slight changes in the plots, and so far, I have disliked all of them because of the wasted opportunity they represent. The books are about a group of women who have been mistreated by men and want to get even. Typically, the U.S. justice system would never provide satisfactory results, so the women have decided to work together and step outside the law to get justice. Yeah, I thought! But these books are full of stilted conversations and cliches of every kind. In addition, the women are all very wealthy, very smart, and very beautiful. Many of these women are gifted with being able to eat like horses without gaining an ounce, and almost all of them have new relationships with equally fantastic men. Screech! Why couldn’t we have the same set up with realistic characters that readers could relate to.
Unfortunately, I bought a small set of these books when I bought "Razor Sharp," so I will read a few more over the coming years, but I do not recommend the books to anyone else.

A lot of repetition.
A lot of the dialogue was repeated as members of the group passed on information from person to person.
The majority of the expressions and sayings are incorrect and gets to be annoying. These are very old adages so it isn’t a regional thing.
I’m hard pressed to say the cost of the books are worth it. Slightly over 300 pages, a lot of repetitive dialogue and exact text from previous books in the series. I’ve never used the term “lazy writing“ before, but spending $8.99 for a Kindle book that has very little new story line is disappointing. I’m hard pressed to finish this series. It did make for mindless reading while being sick in bed with a vicious flu bug. If you’re not delirious with fever keep searching.

The Sisterhood delivers again...
And watch out White House. Some wrongs need to be righted and once again, The Vigilantes are there to make sure that those who usually get off scot free from any wrong doing from the Justice System by loopholes in said system or financial means will pay for their crimes and the innocent will be the ones to suffer no more damage. Always a pleasure to step into a Sisterhood book and live a few hours in a place where justice is served in a manner that fits the crime.

Could've been a good book, but it just wasn't.
Have you ever had someone talk to you for half an hour and, when they finally made their point, you realize they could have communicated the same information in two sentences? That's exactly the nature of this book. It might take five sentences to communicate the entire story. The rest is repetition and filler.
I still love the characters, but this one was not worth my time.

Politics and Prostitution, Who Knew?
This is the 14th book in a series that revolves around a group of well-heeled women vigilantes and their immense support system. Each book is a complete adventure, but each book builds on the past. It is best to read these in order to get the best enjoyment. This story revolves around 2 of the world's oldest professions: prostitution and politics. It is very entertaining. I have read the entire series to this point and am still enjoying them.

I just found these, so I am bringing on Fern Michaels great storytelling. Each book is great, characters are very real. Author brings the characters to life and you will fall in love with each and everyone of them.

Another great book in this series about the Sisterhood. Fern Michaels you have done it again,another great story on how men were made to pay for their indiscretions that they thought they could get away with. This is my review and mine alone. Scandal
I really enjoyed this story even though I actually read it out of line🤷♀️. The story brings many laughs along with it. However, the main story is about a scandal that includes many of the world’s leaders in our nation’s capital! They find themselves in a real‘pickle’ when they meet the vigilantes!

When the ladies get cooking, watch out. A madam is set to take the fall for a sleaze bag Vice President and his gang, and the ladies aren't going to let them get away with it. It's a wild, fantastical ride with their male cohorts assisting, as ordered. Outrageous and funny. If you're not a fan of politicians, you will be rooting for the gals.

Lol
They took out the vice president and several lawmakers!!! A madam from Las Vegas is targeted for a celebration that the vice president endorsed. When she supposedly dies in a car crash, the new president and all key players get involved.
Needless to say, she is alive and well in sorts unknown. The Vigilantes send the men involved to a male brothel in Thailand

Yet another fabulous story - I couldn't put this book down either. This Sisterhood Series is out of this world. A few times I burst out laughing and my husband gave me a strange look (he'd read the jacket). I think he was afraid I was getting ideas from the book (ha ha). Can't wait to start the next one!

This is book 14 in a series. Do not start here. Too many people with different connections and different back stories that make it confusing. There aren't any physical descriptions or very many details to differentiate one from another. Therefore, it's only names and its up to the reader to fit them into the importance of the story.

I was disappointed when I read the book's description after finishing the book as the description was incorrect in many ways. Very sloppy.

Another "can't put down" book!!
A sleepless night to finish this book!! It really had me going for awhile!!!! Some confusion and no real "vengeance" for the bad guys. Wanted to know more if the outcome for the girls! !A"tad" disappointed, but a great job by all!!

Wow
It's amazing how these ladies get away with their retribution, deserved or not, but then it is a book. One I enjoyed. It was moving a little slow but started to get with it at a workable point. I am truly enjoying this series! 👍

Bright part of the book is that Lizzie and Cosmos get married. The sex scandal that is caused by the Vice President of the USA shows how far politicians will go to get what they want..

another good read
Have to say the twists and turns of this novel kept me up late. The actual punishment that was doled out seemed mild compared to earlier in thia series. A bit of unclarity about what happened to the clients in the end would have added to the story.
Have to say the twists and turns of this novel kept me up late. The actual punishment that was doled out seemed mild compared to earlier in thia series. A bit of unclarity about what happened to the clients in the end would have added to the story.

Once again the Vigilantes outsmarte
d the FBI right under their noses. The mystery continues as to where Charles is at this point. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
