The Cold War was like no other conflict yet experienced. It was more than a struggle between two superpowers, it was a war of ideologies, the Capitalistic West and the Communist East. The Cold War leached its way into every facet of British life. The period was punctuated by an arms race which pushed the world to the edge of destruction, as both East and West amassed arsenals of nuclear weapons far beyond what would be needed to destroy, quite literally, everything. This book looks at Britain's part in the conflict.
Kinda interesting as an intro to the subject, nothing new if you're familiar with it. Also the writing style is annoying; the author doesn't seem to know the difference between commas and semicolons.
Good examination of the British defense establishment during the Cold War. Highly technical in some areas, and very superficial in others, like the USAF presence and operations in Britain during the era.
