Important parts from movie were summarized but very busy short story.

It was very choppy and really took the heart of the story away. I get it’s a small book, it can only contain so much of the story, but still it felt like a lot of important parts were missed. I still like Aladdin’s story, I liked reading this mini version of it and seeing which scenes they did choose to include. I just found it probably could have still been a bit better.

love it!
Never paid much attention to Aladdin when I was a kid but now I absolutely luv all versions of the story.

My favorite princess of all time!! I love this story and the pictures are of course so beautiful. It was funny how in the beginning they were very clear about how Aladdin wanted to end his thieving days so as to not morally confuse the young audience. No notes, Aladdin stays perfect.

September 2, 2016Aladdin in my opinion is an ok book I wouldn't go as far to say great. It's not terrible either though. It's a classic story good guy wants the girl. Bad guy tries to kill good guy, bad guy fails.

This story takes place in a vast Arabian desert in a Arabian village called Agrabah. Which is ruled by a sultan.
The protagonist is a poor street rat named Aladdin. With his best friend Abu he lives in a abandond building and must steal to eat. But even with his own unfortunate living conditions if he sees someone who is in more need than him he will help anyway he can. Even if it means giving away his meal.
The antagonist in the story is jafar. A scorcorrer who is very powerful but wants to be even stronger and rule Agrabah. He uses hypnosis to manipulate the sultan into doing whatever he commands him to. The ultimate goal of jafar is to get the lamp that contains the genie. Which will give him ultimate power.
The conflict of this story is jafar wants the genie in his control but he isn't able to obtain the genie him self he needs someone who is worthy of entering the cave of wonders! That's where Aladdin comes in. He is the only one who can obtain it but he learns of Jafars plan and doesn't give him the lamp. This leads jafar and Aladdin to be in conflict with one another through out the story.
The rising action begins when Aladdin wishes to become a prince so he can win the princess Jasmine's heart. While he is wooing the princess jafar is making plans of his own. To kill Aladdin so he can marry the princess jasmine. But his plan fails and Aladdin exposes the lies of jafar to the sultan and princess jasmine. After this Jafars only chance is to steal the lamp from Aladdin.
Jafars parrot iago steals the lamp for jafar and as the sultan is about to marry his daughter jasmine to the street rat/ prince Aladdin, jafar comes out of no where wearing the sultans clothes. He had made a wish to the genie to make him sultan and so genie dos what his master had commanded him to do. When everyone refused to bow to him he wished to be the most powerful sorcerer and he zapped Aladdin all the way to a snowy part of the world, jasmine became Jafars slave, and he turned the sultan into a puppet.
Then all of a sudden Aladdin came into the castle he made it back by the magic carpet he befriended in the cave of wonders. After a battle between jafar and Aladdin jafar questioned the street rat." Saying did you really think you could beat the most powerful being in the universe?!" But Aladdin surprised him. By stating that he wasn't the stringing being in the universe genie was and he could make him just as powerful. So Jafars third wish was to be a genie.
The resolution happend When jafar became a genie he gained unlimited power but with the consequences. Just like genie he had to be imprisoned in a lamp and answer to who ever shall find the lamp.
The denouement began when Aladdin wished for genie to be free and the sultan passed a law saying that the princess could marry who ever she shall like and she marred Aladdin and they lived happily ever after.
The secondary characters in This story are jasmine the princess, the sultan, genie, iago, the guards of the palace, Abu, and the magic carpet,
A memorable quote from this story for me would be a like from Aladdin him self saying "someday it'll be better than this. Just you wait!"
Finally my overall assessment of the book is decent I would most likely read it again

This is the type of book I prayed NOT to encounter when baby-sitting. Due to the popularity of the mind-numbing collection of animated movies Disney published a series of books taken based on their films. Children, enamored with these movies, often choose such reading material for bed-time story hour. I confess to skipping large portions of the text and moving on to a "real" book.

Fascination with Aladin started early on with the book of sounds. Can't find it at the moment. This is much longer and involved and belongs to the library.

I'm not sure why, I just didn't click with this comic version of the classic story. I am thinking of trying a different Disney story, I just wasn't a fan of how they tried to sum everything up here.
