The mysterious death of Ron Brown has caused much controversy and suspicion, and in this investigative book, Cashill takes a close look at Brown's checkered career as Clinton fund-raiser and commerce secretary and consequently exposes the Clintons' dirty, relentless practices for getting financial backing. Cashill answers the most trenchant questions surrounding Brown's rise and Why did his plane crash? Why did the White House suppress an investigation? What was the purpose of Brown's trade missions? And what larger forces caused the Clintons to seek international cash? Using the case of Ron Brown's untimely death as a touchstone for the Clintons' unseemly and unsavory practices in the White House, Cashill explores the seedy depths of the most corrupt adminstration in American history during its two most desperate years and focuses directly on the machinations of the direst threat to today's political scene, Hillary Clinton.
The Clinton hit list is a long one - it seems everyone who’s too close to them dies a tragic death - one-car-accidents, robberies gone wrong where nothing is stolen, suicides with no blood splatter where the body is found, etc etc. Ron Brown was a cabinet member who threatened to blab their foreign meddling secrets and then died on a trip to Croatia with Enron in a plane crash. When the body was returned to America it had no outward trauma, except for the 4 bullet holes in the top of his head.
One of those "conspiracy books" involving the Clintons, but boy does this book ever remind you of the stench from that administration. The Clinton's found some new Chinese donors and they needed bag men to bring back the cash. Al Gore was one, Ron Brown, Clinton's former Secretary was another. Brown was under investigation and Bill Clinton sent him on a trip to the war torn Balkans. He did not return and the way that Clinton's administration handled the autopsy of Brown's body was very suspect indeed. Well worth the read.
Wow! There is evil in the world! I found myself looking up each character mentioned in the book to see whether or not he/she was still alive. It was pretty interesting to see how many people who became 'too close' or 'knew too much' are dead.
Brown was just a typical Ferragamo tie-wearing sycophant political hanger-on who was out to make a (large) buck by parlaying his "standing" in the black community (guaranteeing votes a la Jesse Jackson,) and his polished charm to worm himself into the halls of power whereupon he could start stealing the silverware. Seems he was outsmarted by the people he thought he was outsmarting, namely the Clintons. You can almost feel a little sorry for this hungry sand shark seen swimming among the Great Whites. He's chum. Bill and Hillary are doing just fine.
From this book we should realize how little we really know about our government and the politicians we elect. Also I learned again how the media is more self-serving than serving the public.
