About the author

MIchael McCarthy is Emeritus Professor of Applied
Linguistics at the University of Nottingham, UK. He is also
Adjunct Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Pennsylvania
State University and at the University of Limerick, Ireland.
He is the author of many titles of interest to teachers, including
Spoken Language and Applied Linguistics. Well known as an
expert on the teaching and learning of vocabulary, he is a co-author of the basic and upper-intermediate levels of Vocabulary in Use, and is also Academic Consultant to the Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs and the Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms. He is co-author of the 2 latest successful corpus-informed publications by Cambridge University Press: Touchstone and Cambridge Grammar of English.

من الممكن أن تختلف الاسماء باختلاف نسخة الكتاب ولكن الكتاب غاية في التنظيم وتم نشرة وطباعته من جامعة كامبريدج
الكتاب سهل المتابعة والمذاكرة حيث أن كل درس يقع في صفحة واحدة وفي مقابلها مباشرة تمارين على الدرس مما يعطي فرصة ممتازة للدارس على التمرين على الدرس مباشرة وفهم كل أجزاءه
أنصح بكل هذه السلسلة بشدة لكل راغب في تعلم اللغة الأنجليزية كما أنصح بالبداية بهذا الكتاب حتى وإن كان الكتاب للمبتدئين ولكنه مفيد جدا لكل المستويات فبعد مذاكرة هذا الكتاب سيكون الدارس قد تحصل على قدر مهم من الكلمات التي تستخدم بكثرة في اللغة الانجليزية

الكتاب يتكون من 60 درساً، الدرس في صفحة واحدة تتحدث عن المفردات المستخدمة في موضوع معين، موضحّة بصور وجُمل، وفي الصفحة المقابلة عدد من التمرينات لحفظ هذه الكلمات، وفي نهاية الكتاب تجد حلول تلك التمارين

ذكر المؤلف في بداية الكتاب أن المتحدث العادي باللغة الإنجيلزية يحتاج إلى حفظ من ألف إلى ألفي كلمة، وهذا الكتاب وحده به 1250 كلمة

الكتاب لا يبدأ تعليم الإنجليزية من الصفر، وإنما هدفه يختص بجانب إثراء المحفوظ من المفردات في شتى الموضوعات

It's a very useful book for learning the basics of English language (especially British E.). I communicate easily with English-speakers; but I'm learning a lot more using this book.

این کتاب رو برای مرور لغات و جملات محاوره ای روزمره در عرض یه هفته خوندم. 60 درس یک صفحه ای و صفحه های مقابل هر درس تمرین داره. خیلی روان و کاربردیه. سه کتاب دیگه رو هم خواهم خوند.

A very helpful book for learning and understanding basic English (read:British) vocabularly.

The book has 60 chapters, and each chapter ends with exercises to test your learning. There are answers at the back.

The chapters are well arranged and explained. The scope is wide enough (covering sports, travel, everyday problems and items, professions...) to get one familiar with common English words. I enjoyed the brief yet important grammar (as well as phonetic symbols at the back of the book) that was thrown in.

I needed a refresher on my vocabulary and a base for teaching English, this book delivered!

Questo libro è davvero perfetto per chi si sta accingendo ad imparare i vocaboli inglesi.
Non importa se stai imparando l'inglese da pochi giorni o da anni, questo libro sarà in ogni caso uno strumento utilissimo che ti renderà consapevole della tua conoscenza dei vocaboli anche (e soprattutto) per la preparazione agli esami.

Personalmente, l'ho utilizzato per fare un ripasso generale e devo dire che è molto carino e divertente ma, soprattutto, non è mai noioso..nemmeno nel capitolo dedicato ai Phrasal Verbs!
E ho detto tutto!
