Rudy and Cirrus of Karma

Rate this book
A boy named Rudy breaks his mom's treasured vase and blames his little brother and sister. His mom sends him on an errand and he soon discovers sometimes even on a regular day typical things can lead to strange encounters.

Rudy looked up, and towering over his head
he saw the strange cloud, and froze as it said,
''I'm Cirrus of Karma, I've three wishes to grant you.
Make the first this instant, or you'll have only two.''

Caught off guard to make a wish fast,
Rudy chose pizza with no time to pass.
"I grant you your pizza," the cloud bellowed down,
and Rudy ate pizza alone in the ground.

Cute book with a good lesson for all young kids. The story was short and sweet and perfect to help teach young kids consequences of their actions. The illustrations were vivid and will certainly grab a child's eye. I already have know exactly which young cousin I will pass this book on to...

This is an interesting book. Why? It teaches young children about the consequences of their actions when they are wrong. It has a good message about telling the truth and not blaming others. We can tell from this book that Rudy learnt his lesson by never blaming anyone again. Great illustration and beautiful bold colors by RM Smith which helps bring the story to life. I highly recommend this book.

I got this as a Goodreads first-reads book. I was excited to receive this and read it the second that I opened the package. Here's my honest opinion...
The rhyming is terrific.
We get a great picture of what type of boy Rudy is...and his family...I imagine there is no coincidence that his name is "rude"y.
So, all of these good things...why isn't my rating higher? As a teacher, I try to avoid using the language of "bad" boys and girls...and to say that there was a place where all the bad kids go seems harsh to me...but I can edit it if I'm reading this aloud.
And the monster Lily and Eddie were too scary for my tastes. I get that they are to be scary and maybe I'm just overly sensitive to things like this.
The overall message is great. I'm sure that I will read this over and over again to my class...and I know that they will enjoy it too.
I've already recommended it to the head librarian of the school district.

I won this book in the goodreads giveaway. I personally thought this book was very well thought out and had a great underlying message for children. Rudy and Cirrus of Karma teaches children reasoning and that your actions do have consequences.

I read this to my daughters and they loved the book as well. The illustrations kept there attention along with the story line. They were easily able to relate to rudy and reflect back on the times when they lied, stole from their sister etc...After finishing up the book I always have them summarize and tell me what they learned from the book and they were able to break it down just fine and got the moral of the story as well. They have asked me twice in the same day already to re-read the book to them.

Author Interview & Book giveaway on my blog (ends 3/31) http://iamareadernotawriter.blogspot....

Rudy falsely blames his brother and sister for a misdeed he commited. He falls into a sinkhold and can't get out. Cirrus a cloud, who claims to be his conscience, grants him 3 wishes which help him learn the error of his ways.

This was a fun picture book to read outloud. I enjoyed the rhyming text and it has a good message about telling the truth and not blaming others. The illustrations help bring the story to life.

I received this as a giveaway from goodreads. I think the illustrations were really neat and somewhat different. I loved how it's a little different and focuses on the doing of good things. I was a little confused about the Karma part and will read it again to see if I missed something. It seemed more like Cirrus was a genie in a bottle than an example of Karma, but perhaps I misinterpreted.

This kid's book had pretty good artwork and nice coloring. I'm not sure what age group it was for. Received this as a Goodreads giveaway.
