While the stories of the bible are short and simply written, the illustrations are colorful and add to what we have read many times before.

Like all Usborne books, this is a first high quality bible and is very well adapted for children.

Beautiful illustrations. A sensible censored selection of stories, albeit misleading. That kind of can't be helped at this age level. However, I cannot BELIEVE the outright lies sprinkled in it. For example, Jesus does not flat out say, 'I am the son of God,' when he's questioned by Pilate. Pilate asks if it's true and Jesus says things like, 'That's what you say.' Christians say that you can infer his claims to divinity - but even they would agree he never says the words, 'I am the son of God,' to Pilate. What Jesus says throughout the gospels is that he's the son of man - and there is a lot of debate over what that means...not helped by it all being translated so many times.

We don't need to start making up quotes now and teaching them to children. It changes - and, if you ask me, removes the mystique - of the story. This is not an anti-Christian view at all. I happen to think the gospels are beautiful despite not being Christian. I just feel it's important to teach children the real story. If Jesus really is that important, why are we misquoting him?

My children bible was also a big favorite for me growing up. I read my children bible every night before bed. This is not a book that I could incorporate into my classroom because of the religious aspects. However, this is a book that will be apart of the rest of my life and my children's lives.

This is a great way to introduce the bible to children. Honestly, I wish it was a bit longer!

This is a great collection of stories from both the Old and New Testaments that are written in a child-friendly manner with lovely illustrations.
