My main issue with this story is a 30 years old man who is now 12 years back in time flirting with a high schooler , i know they were married before but it's still felt creepy (especially their first kiss) I would enjoy it more if they got physical after a couple of years into adulthood.it was a little boring until %30 but the rest of it wasn't that bad. Also if you're going into this book expecting an angsty story you'll be disappointed it was rather wholesome.

It's not that I didn't like it. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It was very short and cute. It's not full of angst like I expected, it's more on the fluffy side. Our MC is trying to repair everything that went wrong with his lover in his previous life and prevent his suicide... so when he goes back to his body from 10 years ago he's determined to not waste time.

It made me realise that first person pov, especially in danmei, is definitely not for me. It was a bit awkwardly written and I think the author themselves aren't clear about the timeline because there were some issues with ages and numbers. All in all, it's a cute read, no drama other than the beginning.

Nombre: Old Wounds, New Growth

«Many popular versions in folk culture describe the disease he had. Some refer to it as the disease of the rich, while others call it the disease of idleness, but some may call it the disease of art. What this means is that most of those who suffer from this disease are artists. Yes, yes, yes, that's the one. Its scientific name is depression.»

[Old Wounds, New Growth]

transmigration/second chance, first person POV

MC Shen Baoshan (gong) lives through the successful suicide attempt of his husband Li Chishu (shou ML) when he suddenly wakes up back to his third year of high school as he attempts to orchestrate a closer relationship to Li Chishu earlier in his life rather than later, as in his first life, in an effort to be more present and help the ML gain a will to live.

I thought this story was bittersweet in that we see the sweet moments where the MC shows warmth to the ML during his second life, while he compares it to how their meetings usually went in the first life, where it’s seen that the MC was rather careless with his words and intentions. Of course, it’s not done intentionally, but for the ML who is extremely shy and reserved, the MC’s words are taken as scripture. In addition, since the MC never knows if he’ll suddenly wake up or go back to his original timeline, he treats every meeting with the MC as if it’ll be his last, which just pulled at my heartstrings. One other thing that makes it all so bittersweet is that we are given snippets of perspective from the ML’s POV through the short daily journal entries he writes, with a comparison of how his day had gone originally in the first life followed by how their life goes during this second life.
This story is character-driven and both characters go through significant growth that I find refreshing. Both personalities are really great which is what kept me reading - I liked that that MC took the initiative to pursue the ML, especially when he started to recognize the shy efforts the ML had taken to pursue him in their first life. He takes this appreciation to build the ML’s confidence, which works when we see the ML voice his reluctance for too many gifts, or voice how the ML should trust him more to know when to say no.

My only real “complaint” would be that SPOILERS the answer of the MC going back in time is never really answered. We’re never given clarification if it was all just a bad dream that the ML had, if he really went back in time, or if he’ll eventually go back, or if the MC will perhaps remember the memories of the first life. The end alludes to MC being sent as a guardian angel of sorts for the ML, and I think it works well as an open ending!

Overall I would give this a 4.5/5
