Deepdene has been swept by what seems to be a vicious tropical disease. Luckily Eve and Jess are both healthy so they're taking their chance to enjoy the unseasonal heat wave. But then teenagers start to disappear. The spread of the disease worsens and the town is placed under lockdown. A demon is among them. It could be anybody. And now there's nowhere to go...The third title in this successful series. It is suitable for all fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Charmed" and "Twilight".
Amy Meredith now lives in California, though she has lived and worked in New York and the Hamptons where our heroes, Eve, Luke and Jess, come from. She has always had a fascination with the supernatural and wishes she had a super power like Eve's - although in real life she says she would definitely prefer shopping to demon-fighting!
I love this series and this is the second book I've read from that series . I loved this book more than the other . It's always fun to learn about the characters backgrounds and to know more about previous characters.
Everything seems to be going great for Eve and Jess. It's March and their enjoying a mysterious heatwave and gossiping about boys. But when people start to fall ill with a tropical disease that causes pieces of flesh to fall of the victims skin they know that this is no normal disease. When Luke's father falls sick they are determind to find the cause. Amunnic, a blood sucking demon followed a school teacher home from Egypt and is causing havoc in the town and it's Eve's job to track him down...
Fever was an interesting instalment as Eve, Jess and Luke aren't dealing with the usual supernatural threat. This story was as page turning as ever and I loved seeing Eve and Luke be shy around each other. Jess decides to learn how to defend herself which was great! There wasn't as much talk about fashion which was enduring, I liked seeing everyone grow as characters. Amunnic wasn't as scary in the finale as I imagined and there wasn't as much action throughout the book compared to what I was expecting but overall this was a good read.
Such a weak book. Much worse than the first two. Read's like a first draft, plot holes, grammar mistakes and under developed characters. I will not be reading another one of her books.

This book gave me goosebumps, honest. Meredith really stepped up as a writer, and I felt like she needed some sort of world-wide recognition (I may say that, but I must be honest: J.K. Rowling is the best of the best). What I'm trying to say is, Fever is the best she's written so far, and I hope she doesn't mess up with the fourth book, like so many author have done with their own. A potentially good series like this would be a flat-out disappointment if it were messed up.
Moreover, I'm REAL happy I got what I wanted out of the characters (: *unfortunately, y'all gotta read to figure out what the frick I'm talking about* (:
I now understand why this was in the library book sale.
Please, if you have half a brain, or even a single working brain cell, do not read this because it is torture. DNF at 4th chapter because I decided my life has more worth than sitting reading this.
I didn't even realise there was a book in the middle and it still made sense to real - LOL. Nothing special, cardboard characters, empty plot and meh writing. If not for the book reading challenge, would've put it down.
Love the fact that Meredith keeps coming up with different ways for the demons to behave - stops the series getting tedious. Now on to the next one. :)
When I first started this series, I hated it with a passion. Seeing as I got the second book for review, I was persuaded to give it a chance and I am bloody glad I did now. The second book was so much better than the first and now the third book was even better!
Eve and Jess have come a long way as characters. In the beginning, all I could see were shallow, spoiled, rich girls but not anymore. Yes, some of those aspects are still there but it is not nearly as in your face as it was in the first book and now, I kind of like this about them both. Their obsession with clothes, shoes and accessories annoyed me to be begin with but now it is quite funny because of Luke being around a lot and getting annoyed with the girls. Eve has probably come the furthest though, finding out she is the Deepdene Witch and having to kill demons. I guess having this responsibility really makes a girl think about what is really important although it was nice to see that she didn’t lose all of herself when she realised what she was.
I love Luke. He’s adorable. The new, non demon kid in town has finally settled in and made some great friends in Eve and Jess. He still has a bit of a reputation as a player but I like the cheeky side to him, even though he has feelings for Eve. I really wish that Luke would get to some more ass kicking than he does though, considering the huge sword he has but instead, he seems to get stuck with doing most of the research. Something has been building up between Luke and Eve since the first book and I was sooooo happy to see this finally go somewhere this time around. Ok, it was exactly what I wanted but at least it was better than nothing at all.
Fever had a quicker pace than the previous two books in the series and this was something that I really liked. Because of the nature of the flu epidemic, people were dropping like flies and I think this is why the pace was so fast. Just as one person would get the illness, another would, and then another. All the time, someone new was getting sick and it was getting to the point where I was wondering how many people would be left before Eve, Jess and Luke figured something out. The story, although not quite as exciting as book 2, was still exciting enough to keep me reading. I wanted to know who the demon was this time and how it was going to be stopped. I wanted to know what was going on with Eve and Luke and I wanted to know some stuff about Jess but if I tell you what it was, I might spoil some things.
Fever is a great third book in the series and I just hope future books keep getting better, as this one did. It is quite a short and easy read but one that is thoroughly entertaining. It’s funny, exciting and has demons and witches. What more could you ask for?
Wow, I have to thank Amy Meredith again for this great book, I loved it, and the 2 before this.
Brief description: In this book, Eve, Jess and Luke or still in this book and let me say they are the demon hunter's still, a vicious tropical disease is being spread through Deepdene and they think its just a flu or something but they realise its a demon called Many faces/Amunnic when teenagers start to disappear.
Characters: Eve being the Deepdene witch when a demon turns up it is up to her to destroy it. But at the beginning she just wants to enjoy the heat with her best mate Jess. Eve's character is strong, bold, brave and also a shopoholic. Jess feels as if she need to learn something to help put the 3 of them, because she feels that she is the only one who can't do anything, Luke has the sword, and Eve is a witch, but Jess is brave as well and what would we do without her. Luke is the hot guy who just can't admit his feelings to Eve what annoyed me. He has the sword to help but is not much use for what happens with the demon. Luke is also brave and an amazing character and without him the book would not be the book. Many Faces/Amunnic is the demon they face witch could be anybody in Deepdene so the chances is Eve,Jess and Luke have all been near him at times.
Prologue: Everything what happened in Deepdene is linked to what happened in the prologue. So make sure you read the Prologue and i know when i was young i missed them out thinking they are pointless.
Love: Eve and Luke both like each other allot and you could tell this from the very moment they laid eyes on each other but they both think its just friendship and all through all 3 books I was saying just kiss, be with each other.
Overall: Overall i loved this book and recommend you read it if you have read the first 2. There is a 4th one called Betrayal coming out and i just can't wait.
When a vicious tropical plague sweeps Deepdene, Eve and her friends Jess and Luke just try to bask in the abnormal heat and do what they can to avoid getting the disease themselves. They suspect their teacher, Mr Dokey, brought it back with him from a recent trip to Egypt – but also begin to suspect that he brought something more sinister along with it. The plague worsens, the town is shut off and now with a shape-shifting demon on their tail, the trio probably have a lot more than they bargained for.
This is the third in the Dark Touch novels, and honestly I think they’re getting better as they go along. I mean, this one was full of clichés and stupid pet-names for things, but it was an enjoyable read.
The characters are developing and clearly getting older, which is nicer to read, as they’re becoming around my age a little more. Their education into the world of demons is also interesting to read, and I’m quite enjoying their progression from not knowing anything to actually anticipating what’s going on, which makes the action far more interesting. Eve getting used to her powers also helps this.
I quite liked that this plot almost had two strands to it: the plague and the demon. However, I felt like it was concluded far too quickly, and although there was a neat cliff-hanger, it came too quickly as well. So, bad time on author’s part.
Overall, however, I quite enjoyed the 3rd book in the series, far more than the other two thus far. Onto the fourth!
This is the third installment to the dark touch series. As the series progresses it gets better and better. It is about time Eve and Luke are getting some chemistry happening. There is a demon in town and where demons lay so do deaths... There is a fever, plague that is threatening the many lifes of citizens of Deepedene. Can Eve stop the spread before it is too late? Will she lose someone close to her in the process?
Okay i still am not a huge fan of the series, although it was a huge improvement. I think the writing is lacking bringing a weaker story on board. But in saying that, I reckon this is the best book in the series so far. This one was a free one that I purchased with a voucher, anything I have I don't like to leave around unread so i read it and gave it a try. It did have some sort of cliff hanger, not a strong and captivating one. I don't know if i will read the next one in the series, 'Betrayal'. It is one of those things where if i have nothing to read, which is highly unlikely! then i will read it. Maybe I'll just read it through the library.... Anyway its not a bad little read.
I found it Okay at the start. It all seemed reasonable good after the first two books, but this was a disastrous. The story felt like a paper falling flat down. I felt tortured just trying to finish this book. I dreaded finishing it! but I had too :)
Either way the story was not for me. It felt like that the only thing the character were doing was saying 'Ammunic' 'Ammunic' THERE was no story except Ammunic! I felt sick every page you turned it talks about Ammunic! they've already given all the information yet repeat and repeat' I was shocked this story could become this sickening. Dont know if i'll read the next one...
One star just because I liked Jess, she should be the main character! Eve's BORING!
All Luke thinks about is touching EVE, (Yeah All HE can think about, I still think he's a player though)!
This is Just My Opinion. I felt no Substance...

What a great and horrendous read! Filled to the brim with horrific events and mystery I did not put this book down! It was a light read but that did not affect how much I enjoyed it.
Expectantly, none of the three main characters disappointed me, but in this book unlike in the previous novels in the Dark Touch series I found Jess as one of my favourite characters. I am not sure why but I found her a brave, considerate character and she just shone through in this book. Oh and yes, Eve and Luke finally had moments and I can not wait to see what happens between them!
Surprisingly I have enjoyed all of these books and can not wait to get my hands on the next book coming out, Betrayal.
This was so amazing. I'm so glad, that after 3 years I have finally been able to continue reading about the adventures of Eve, Jess and Luke. This installment in the "A Dark Touch" series was actually frightening. The elusiveness and cunning of the new demon the three friends faced was truly terrifying. And a plague? Wow... I loved the development of Luke and Eve's relationship (FINALLY!!) and the everlasting bond of Eve and Jess' friendship, which I absolutely love. Like is there anything these two wouldn't do for each other? I am so excited to read the next book after an ending like this one (LIKE WHAT?!?!?)
Deepdene is once again under seige this time by an unknown plague. The town gets sealed off and people are missing. Eve, Luke and Jess are on the case and research shows that behind it all is a demon, who can take the form of anyone. But how can they tell who it is?
This is a strangely compelling series. The writing isn't bad and while the endings on each book have the drama of a Charmed episode, it keeps you reading until the end. Perfect for any teenager with a short attention span and who loves shopping.
I felt this series is very lacking in depth. The entire time I've been reading, it's been shallow, predictable, unrealistic and just, uninteresting. I thought I must have accidentally borrowed a junior section book rather than a young adult. When I looked, nope, it was YA. Then i wondered if the library had categorized it incorrectly, turns out, no again. It's just a very undeveloped series, and I simply. don't. enjoy. it.
I actually finished this book in a matter of hours. I will admit that they were consecutive, but this book was glued to me eyes. The development of the storyline as well as the relationships between characters, paired with the supernatural themes make this book a must read for anyone who wants to enjoy a good book. I cannot stress how excited I was when reading this. I could not stop reading for one moment!!!!!!!!
I think that this book is the best so far, but next time when something happens (as we all know, something WILL happen) they'll know that its a demon!!!!!!!! If they don't use this reasoning I swear its time for a *facepalm* "as a wise man said if 1s is a cooncidence twice is a pattern 3 times! It's definitely time for a warrant" -Mr. Stalinsky but nevertheless the book was great!
I actually think that I sould give LESS stars but ''I didn't like it'' sentence is too strong. It's just boring book, alike to others, more interesting ones.
Looking back to when I first read these series, I'm kinda glad I didn't give up on them. This one was a page turner and it really did make you want to keep reading. It's definitely better than the first 2 books. But I did love this one
I found this series so far to be nice and easy reading, this book, much like the first two started of slow but found it's feet not far in, and I liked the little revelation about Eve at the end too.
i always find the book in this series interesting but i do have to say the twist on the last page was a WT? for me....didnt see that one coming at all!
