A textbook approach to language learning with a heavy emphasis on interaction with classmates. I used this book for an intensive three week course upon first arriving in Japan. Perhaps if the lessons had been spaced out once a week for a longer, less intensive course, the book could have been useful. In our format of a new lesson every day or two it proved to be way too much information, and I forgot most of what I studied. I learned more from approaches such as Pimsleur and Mango
