I crawled through the ashes and reinvented myself...but what can I do when his darkness calls to mine?

It’s been a year since I stepped through the doors of Sterling High. A year since I reinvented myself and every day I put on my outfit of lies with a pretty smile but there’s a darkness lurking at the corners of my vision.

Moving here should have been the best thing that ever happened to me but the spoiled antics of my peers leave me with a cold heart. Not only that, but now I'm confronted with Ramsay and his wicked brother's in arms, all of whom, I've been avoiding since I came.

It's not his pretty eyes nor his devilish smile that have me hiding. Nope, it’s the affiliation I've been outrunning for 365 days. A lifetime. Not nearly long enough.

These boys with their little fiefdom don't scare me. I've seen true evil. But now, my worlds are about to collide. I can’t outrun my past and the present isn’t looking all that promising. Still, when Ramsay thinks to challenge me, I have no choice but to show my true colors.

Now the game is on…the question is…who will survive? My motto? Always bet on the unknown and I'm betting right about now…Ramsay has no idea what's about to hit him.

★★★Author's This book is part of a trilogy, although it can be read as a standalone. Ramsay and Willow's story is raw and beautiful but also contains strong language, violence and sexual situations that some may find triggering.

Hi! I’m Nina. I love to read. Obsessively. No joke. Just ask my husband. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Pursued a graduate degree in Forensic Psychology in the great NYC and settled in Phoenix.

I’m an avid Elvis Presley fan, a Tudor history aficionado (or at least I like to think so), and a zombie/end of the world junkie, who happens to also be a sucker for a happy ending! Yes, I see the contradiction.

On those rare occasions when I am not engrossed in a good book, or writing my own, I can be found cuddled up to my furry companions (the dogs not my husband) and relaxing with my best friend (my husband not the dogs).

I love books across all genres and can’t seem to keep myself in a single lane when I create my own stories, so if it seems as though I can’t make up my mind, it’s because I can’t. Heh.

~Nina

Every time I think I’ve hit my limit with bully romances, I find another that reminds me why the trope is so tricky to pull off. This one wasn’t confusing because it was complex, but because the story felt unfocused and repetitive. The drama circled the same beats, and while the MMC was intense, it never translated into showing real care for the heroine and they had some cringey interactions until the end of the book, which made the romance hard to believe.

Also, every single heroine by this author is a doormat, and this one is not different. She talks big but acts like a spineless pushover. By the very end, when they mumble that they “could” come to love each other, I was ready to throw my Kindle. A total waste of time.

Loved this series!

Yes- Loved the inner monologue! Author did great with this book. I really enjoyed the characters. Climax of the book was…good & disappointing.

No- Ending left questions. During some parts of the book it was hard to follow the conversation. Just a bit confusing. Left lots of questions throughout the book that never end up being fully answered.

Haven’t decided if I want to continue the series or not to the next characters. Overall I enjoyed the plot but the very ending just left me like….”What??? Thats it??” Maybe the next books will provide an answer to some prominent questions.

💕

This book has so much potential. It wasn’t a bad story, it was just a bit rushed.. it had a great potential to be a 4-5 ⭐️ and of this book was a two book series or even three book it would have been just that. I felt that your didn’t really get Willows backstory and some of the things that happens felt like you didn’t really got everything that happened. 🙃

However!! I like the story overall and the writing is okey. I’ve read Nina’s other series, the hate series, and LOVED it. 😍 And not I’m gonna read the other books in this series and see more of these guys. Maybe the other two book will get one more star since I now have some more backstory. 💕

Ok so here's the deal. I love stories with an h who is broken. Willow is certainly that. But I really don't like stories where drug/alcohol addiction play a major part. And Willow is also a recovering addict. She's a bit of an unreliable narrator because of her history of drug abuse.

The plot line in this is pretty complicated and twisted, which I do like when I can follow it. In this case, it could have used a bit more explanation to clear things up at the end, and there're a few plot holes that could have been filled in.

This is the first book in this series and it will blow your mind. I didn't want to put it down. The chemistry between Willow and Ramsay should have a warning label. It could say "Highly combustible when in same vicinity." So many twists and turns. Everyone is hiding something. Here's a suggestion, don't try to figure it out. Just read the book and keep in mind.... nothing is ever what it seems. Wow, this author is simply incredible.

Good suspense, storyline, and characters

I'm bouncing between 4 and 4.5 stars in this one.

The storyline was good with suspense on the plots within plots. The main characters were all so broken but perfect for one another. Willow was not perfect by any means. Heck, she was as tainted as they come but was one of those FMC that had a spine when needed and knew how to hold her own within needing to be a queen B about it.

I'm looking forward to the next book.

Beyond Bullying

Nina's written a story that is a step above bullying. I think it's more tormenting someone than just bullying them. It's a great storyline diverging two worlds and the girl caught in both parts. The spice is just right. The chemistry between our two main characters is sweet and hot. I am letting you know that there is a lot too unpack with this story. Be ready for it. Enjoy.

surprised turn of events

What I enjoyed most is that Willow kept up her fight..she wasn’t the normal damsel In distress. This book kept me guessing and definitely didn’t imagine the different shock values in this book…the action kept me reading and couldn’t stop until I reached the end. Now to read book 2.

This could have been such an amazing read, but the first 45% of the book is just a bunch of repeats. The heroine is constantly talking about how she has this dark side, bla bla bla. The repetitiveness gets on your nerve by 70%. The book was shallow, the characters even more so. Like I mentioned, it could have been interesting but unfortunately this was one of the worst I have read this year.

Awesome!!!

I could not stop reading once I got started. I can’t wait to read the next installment. I didn’t see the ending but it makes since. This story has so many twists and turns but I enjoyed the ride.

I've been in a book funk for a while now, I actually like this book. I love strong heroine, she fought back and didn't care about what others are doing are saying.

Enjoyed reading this one. Ramsay and the rest of his crew are real a-holes and in real life I don't think any girl would put up with any of their shit. I did enjoy her spunk tho.

No good

Willow and Ramsay's story was confusing. Not typical, there was no good with anyone of them. They both are trying to survive.

The book was interesting one.

I dug it

Honestly I dug the thriller like plot more than the spice. It’s also a relatively quick read too. I dug it

Grabbed me from the beginning

Willow & Ramsay… tense and confusing. At times, I did get lost in the plot. Still, “To Death, To Life, To Loyalty.” Good book. Worth the read.
