There are currently 21 million quilters in the United States, and this collection of 20 stunning projects will have them running to their sewing machines. From the cute Spring Bunnies to the classic Cadeaux de Provence quilts, the festive Christmas Baubles wall hanging to the innovative Coffee and Cream throw, there is a design here to suit every home. Plus, they take very little time to make! Beautiful photography and helpful line drawings make assembly simple, and numerous ideas throughout for varying the designs will inspire quilters to personalize the projects. All the basic techniques are explained, so newcomers will soon be on their way to creating heirloom-quality quilts.
I will give it credit for giving a lengthy beginner quilters guide at the end but in terms of the rest of the book I had a number of issues. For some of the quilts there was no photo or drawing of the whole quilt so you could get a good idea of what you were making, most of them didn't have block assembly guides so you could get a visual on how it went together and in some of the samples the workmanship was very poor (stitching all over the place, quilting pinching where the quilt hasn't been pinned flat)
This stunning book of quilts won me over at first browse. It is a wonderful collection of both classic and modern quilts, with instructions that are easy to follow. this book is chock full of quilty inspiration. I have already purchased it for my crafting library and am working on my first of the patterns now.
It is that time of the year! And this book is perfect for anyone wanting to do modern quilts that are not overly country or cutsey. I borrowed it from the library and now wish I could keep it.
